ECIWO Biology and Bio-Holographic Acupuncture Summary ECIWO stands for "Embryo Contalnine lntormation ol the lAhole Ot7ani"m . fel\\ O bolog b a ne^ biological discipline that has been developed in China. lt is based on the hypothesisthat living otganisms have a mosaicstructure, being composed of partsthat have embryonic properties and contain information rclating to the whole oganism. ECIWO biology is being applied to different lields of the life sciences, includinE medicine. It explains the acupuncture microsystems and gives a new scientific basisfor the study ol acupuncture. A new nicro-system of acupuncture based on the second netacarpal is described. Apparentlythese methods reflecta general physio- logical principle: a kind of holographic mirroring of the wholeorganism in its pafts. lt is a dynamic, two- way relationship: a pathological change in the whole organism is reflected in corresponding changes in each of the microsysterns, and a lhe apeu,i( inlenpntion in onc ot tl^e mir ro.ystem. may effecta corresponding changein the whole organism. That is why we can use these methods both for diagnostic andtherapeutic purposes. The common nature of thesemethods suggests that they afe due to a general biological principle: a kind of holographic structuring of the living organism. Such a principle would obviously serve the purpose of biological organization. lt would help us to expiain how a IivinS orSanism, which to the analytical eye is composed of an infinite number ot parts/ may as yet function as a whoJe and preserve internal coherence. cancer therapy. The aim of this strategy is not to killthe cancer cel ls, but to jnf luence them in ways thatwill further their development and differentiationbeyond the moruJa stage of embryonicdevelopment. To this purpose he proposes the use ofdifferent remedies (hormones, phytohormones, organ extracts, embryonjc extracts, Chinese herbalmedicines and Chinese medicines {rom loweranimals) which promote cell dif ferentiat ion,in combination with SMS bio-hoJogfaphicacupuncture,At The International Congress of ECIWO Biology in

Singapore 1990 a few cases of cancer treated bybio-holographic acuplrncture were presented. Thelargest Sroup was from Zhu Xizhang ef a/. of theWorker's Hospital, Liaocheng District and Thelnstitute of ECIWO Biology of Shandong University.Of the 2,000 cases they had treated wjrh bioholo8raphic acupunctlrre there were 16 cases ofbenign and malignant tumors. As regards thetherapeutic effect, they write:"On the one hand, the method can inhibit the

pain, vomit and hiccup, increase appetite, andalleviate the symptoms for cancers at the laterstages, the curative effect is quick and reliable, theremission rate of symptoms was 100yo; on the otherhand, after tteatment, some tumors, especiallybenign tumors, apparently reduced." (3)The l imited cl inical experience with this method

that we have in Norway so far supports these obser-vations. The symptomatic effect and improvement inwell being of even neaFterminal cases of metastaticcancer with SMS bio-holographic acupuncture isastounding (provided the patient is not on cytotoxicmedication). Apparently also the cancer may reducein size and, possibly, in malignancy. In view of the lack of material and of long{erm

studies, no comprehensive statement on the possiblevalue of this new approach to cancer therapy can'urrenllv be made. This is. howerer, d promi'tngfield of cl inical and experimental research.

I nte mati o nal congressesDuring the 1980s four conBresses of ECIWO bioloBywere held in China. The f irst international congresswas held in Singapore , May 12-13,1990, with theparticipation of 150 scientists and researcners rrom26 countries. In his address to this congress HuXiming, Vice-Minister of Public Health of thePeople's Republic of China and Director of StateAdministfat ion of Tradit ional Chinese Medicine, stated:"The founding of the ECIWO theory and ECIWObiology is one of the most impoftant events in thehistory of biology in this century. It will brin] abouta conceptual change in our uncle$tanding of theoryanism. lt will exert an important influence uponthe development of biology and medicine, especially upon the modernization of traclitionalmedicine such as ftaditional Chinese Medicine. ........ Today ECIWO biology is widely applied tomedicine, zoology, botany, Chinese herlcal

medicine, hotticulture, palaeontologv cancer studyand some other realms. ... More than Bo kinds ofdiseases in 20,000 cases have been trcated and therate of effectiveness is over 90/o. Bio-holographicdiagnosis and therapy have proved easy to lean,.ontenienl and hBhl\ et '{et l i re r lniLal l). 14)The Se(ond inlcr.|al jondl Cong.ecs ol FCIWO

Biology wil l be held in Oslo, Norwa, September 9-10, 1992. Betore the congress Professor YingqingZhanS wil l give a 3 day seminar in the practicalapplication of ECIWO biology.
