Dear Friends,

Following a wonderful Easter Sunday, our congregation enters this Eastertide season with a renewed sense of God’s resurrection power to sustain and send

us in faith, life, and ministry together. As we press on, please be aware of these three important pieces of information.

Long Range Strategic Planning Team UpdateThe Long Range Strategic Planning Team has been meeting weekly since February 11th. During this first phase of the process, the team has produced a S.W.O.T. Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats), spent time reviewing data about our own congregation and community, and planned for the next phase, which will actively engage the congregation in several ways. On April 3, 10, and 17, my sermons will focus on how Christ might be calling us and leading us to be his witnesses in our specific context over the next 5 years. The LRSPT will also be sending out a survey that will be different than the surveys the congregation has participated in recent years. This survey will seek to identify why you/your household have made First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta your church home, how the church might support your/your household’s spiritual growth and call in the world, and how you might use your gifts to support the spiritual growth and call of other members and friends of the congregation. From the late spring through early summer, we will have Town Hall gatherings, meet with Councils and committees, and engage various small groups, Sunday School classes, and other ministry teams. Stay connected and stay tuned as this exciting process continues to unfold!

Dear Friends,

There’s a trick to a graceful exit. It means leaving a stage of life without denying its importance in our lives. It involves a sense of future, a belief that every exit is an entry, that we are moving on, rather than out. It is time for my graceful exit from an amazing congregation that has been my church family. I will always love and remember you.

After 20 years, I have made the decision to retire. I came to First Presbyterian Church to cook, but the Lord changed this job into something even more beautiful. The wonderful people I have met and the joy that I found here are beyond description. I have been blessed by the very best staff – Rhonda Bass and Lenny Davis (my daughter and son), Shawn O’Kelley, Ivory Anderson, and Gerald Lee have all been there to support me for the good of the church. I am so thankful to the members for their love and support over the years. I am blessed to have the support of my husband of 46 years, Forrest “Frosty” Davis. I will never fully retire. I will just slow down and enjoy my family more. My heart overflows with love for your kindness and care during my time here. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Love, Karin Davis

A WORD OF THANKS...

Want a meaningful experience?Become an FPC driver in our Family Visitation program.

aFamily Visitation program was started, and is run,

by the Georgia Justice Project. Supported by the FPc/hillside Partnership, this invaluable program keeps families connected with loved one who are incarcerated. caring and connected family members are proven to ensure a successful

reentry into society once prison time has been served. every second Saturday of the month, an FPc driver teams up with a hillside driver. Occasionally couples chose to drive together. Volunteers do not visit the inmates; their job is to safely drive the families in a GJP furnished vehicle to and from the prison. While visits are taking place, volunteers enjoy interesting sites nearby. FPc is in need of additional drivers to drive up to 2 times a year. Please contact Susan Prutzman at 404 264 0846 for more information and/or to sign up.

THEOLOGYMATTERS Short Courses for the Thoughtful Christian

ROADSIDE RELIGIONWednesdays in the Berean Room | April 13, 20, 27 & May 4| 7:00-8:15 pmInstructor: Ryan Bonfiglio

In America today, christianity is not only encountered within the walls of churches or the confines of small group Bible studies. Rather, expressions of faith routinely seep into popular culture, whether in the form of Bible bumper stickers, evangelistic tracks, mega-church billboards, or christian theme parks. how can we understand and interact with these forms of “roadside religion”? What role do they play in shaping popular christian beliefs? And how might a Presbyterian respond to these curious combinations of christianity and culture? This four-week series will explore these and other questions about the everyday artifacts of faith known as roadside religion.
