September 2017 Greetings Thunderbird Families, This school year is already off to a great start! Students are settling into their classes and our students and staff are making great progress with school-wide programs and initiatives. This year in efforts to strengthen our communication with our parents we have provided each student with a homework agenda book. Each day, every class reviews and discusses the days schedule, records upcoming items and daily homework in agenda book, and students are asked to share agenda information with families each night. Parents and teachers are able to comment in the section provided in the agenda should questions and/or concerns arise that need to be addressed. Our vision is to provide our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure all students reach their full potential through effective instruction, high expectations, and active involvement. The educational program must be academically rigorous and relevant, engage each student by linking the curriculum to previous knowledge and experience, and also be exciting to promote further exploration of new ideas. Parents, teachers, support staff, and administration all have an important role to encourage our children to become active learners. It is my sincere desire to provide expanded opportunities for our students to achieve their maximum potential. I am committed in creating a school culture focused on student learning, a commitment to high expectations, innovation and collaboration. Throughout the school year, your child’s teacher and I will be making a special effort to stay in touch with you. We will keep you informed of your child’s progress and school activities. Look for papers coming home from school each day—newsletters, invitations, updates, tips, and reminders. I hope that you will feel welcome as you become involved with your child’s experiences at Eliseo C. Felix School. Your communication with us is very important, too. Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher, or me, whenever you have a question or concern.
