Englewood Parent Empowerment Series in Full Effect!
“We have to stay in front of the curve, because unfortunately Englewood
maybe faced with school actions again next year…”
The Englewood Community Action Council (CAC) kicked off their first Englewood Education Empowerment
Summit, back in January at Wentworth Elementary school located at 6950 S. Sangamon. Parents, educators,
community activists and students were in attendance ready to network and share best practices. Attendees were
greeted with the sounds of Dj Dap Deluxx (founding member of the Resident Association of Greater Englewood
also known as R.A.G.E.) who set the tone for a fun-filled learning experience.
This kick-off was the beginning to the Englewood Parent Empowerment Series which is a schedule of various
workshops catered to parents of the Greater Englewood neighborhood. The Englewood CAC is in full swing as they
immediately moved into the implementation phase of several goals outlined in their Educational Strategic Plan,
“We have to stay in front of the curve, because unfortunately Englewood maybe faced with school actions again
next year”, says Latesha Dickerson, Educator and Co-Chair of the Englewood CAC.
All Englewood parents, guardians, grandparents, community leaders are welcome to attend and invite a friend or
neighbor. The Englewood CAC strongly encourages all LSC and PAC members to attend or schedule a workshop at
their respective schools.
