During the month of May, St. John the Apostle Food Pantry served over 1,000 people in our community. We assisted almost 50 families with diapers.

Many families are still waiting for a call to return to work. While they wait, the assistance has been a life line for their family. We are very grateful for the partnership we have with our parishioners and Good Shepherd Parish to help provide food, toiletries and diapers.

Durante el mes de mayo, la despensa Servicios Sociales de St. John the Apostle sirvió a más de 1,000 personas en nuestra comunidad. Ayudamos a casi 50 familias con pañales.

Muchas familias aun están esperando una llamada para volver al trabajo. Mientras esperan, la ayuda ha sido un salvavidas para su familia. Infant Baptism ClassDeadline July 7, 2020

Our next Infant Baptism class (re-quirement for parents and sponsors) is scheduled for Thursday, July 9 via a Zoom meeting. The deadline to regis-ter for the class is Tuesday July 7, 2020. Please call the Parish Office at (817) 284-4811 for more information.

Safe Environment Reminder

If you have not attended a Virtus awareness session, Protecting God’s Children for Adults, it must be taken before 08/31/2020. This deadline applies even if the old Safe Environment course, Safe and Sacred, shows it does not expire until after 08/31/2020. There is no Safe Environment “grace period” for volunteers or employees. You must always be current with all aspects of Safe Environment in order to volunteer.

To volunteer, you must:● Register for and attend an Awareness Session at a location of your choosing every two years. Due to COVID-19, Zoom classes are

currently being offered in addition to in-person classes● Complete a Volunteer Application Packet● Have a current background check on file● Have a current driving/credit check on file if you drive or handle money (respectively) for your ministry● If you are a new volunteer, you will not be able to volunteer until your references have returned the reference letters for you.

Family Faith Formation

During June, we take time to celebrate our fathers in a special way. We invite parishioners to participate in two activities this month. 1: submit photo of father or father figure that we can upload to parish website, and 2: look at photos in Album on website. Food PantryDuring these unique, trying times we have all seen examples of fear, of hoarding, of selfishness. But you trusted and you gave! The last week has shown the true spirit of our parish. Donations of food have streamed in to help care for our brothers and sisters in need. The clients are very grateful for the assistance as a reflection of God’s love. Food Pantry hours:Monday & Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Tuesday & Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Donations can be brought to the Food Pantry during open hours. If that is not convenient, please bring them to the Administration Building. Food and supplies should be placed outside of the glass door on the north side of the building, and checks, cash or cards should be deposited through the mail slot near the front doors.
