Non-medical, electrical appliances must be UL tested and approved by the NCOIC/Supervisor

as household.

Monthly inspection of the plugs, cords, and appliances should be conducted when the monthly fire inspections are completed.

Only electrical appliances meeting the standard and tagged with a green compliant sticker are allowed for use.

Cords and appliance itself must be in good working condition…no frays, cracks, etc.

Heat producing appliances must have an inspection tag on cord.

Monthly inspection of the plugs, cords, and appliances should be conducted when the monthly fire inspections are completed

Heat producing items must be inspected annually by the Area Fire Marshal and tagged noting this. (the Safety Office has more tags…and can answer questions about specific appliances if you have questions)

Nothing gets plugged in without approval by fire marshal, NCOIC, or Safety Office.

Compliant sticker must be affixed (these are green stickers)

Ward NCOIC/supervisors are RESPONSIBLE for inspecting and approving all electrical items brought in by patients prior to use.
