As the 2nd quarter of FY15 ends, it leaves behind few memorable days of happiness and sadness and ways to march towards the 3rd quarter of FY15, providing ample opportunities to implement the vision of Dell eBiz Services – “Enlighten, Educate & Evolve”. Dell eBiz Services is a leading landscape to share the collective insights, strategies and best practices from across all Dell business units.

On June 7th 2014, many of our Dell eBiz Services members were recognised for their talent and contribution towards their work and honoured with Dell Champion Awards and other Dell Recognition Awards. For this quarter we have 6 Bronze Awards & Spot Awards distributed to our vertical members. This validates the exemplary efforts of the team leaders and the team members in particular, to deliver the business goals and strive of excellence.

As commonly thought, Change is always constant, effective from August 4th 2014; the 10 hour working pattern comes into picture and with no more working Saturdays will be applicable. With this change, the upcoming quarters will view lots of organisational hierarchical changes and leadership trainings, which would show positive enhancement in our business.

“Selling Our Stories & Capabilities” is the ongoing agenda for this year. With the changing outlook of business presentation approaches, Dell eBiz Services has deployed the Go to Market Strategy (GTM) initiatives. We are active in the social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Salesforce Chatter etc. This will not only help to market our stories and generate new business leads, but it will also help establish and enhance the brand for Dell Services.

With the outlook of new projects and business leads, the FY15 will be marked as the year for the overall grooming for every individual at Dell eBiz Services. This comprehensive learning approach will be an exciting opportunity to learn and develop soft skills through internal training programs, to nurture our assets and enrich the client relationship.

As persistently said, my message to every individual at Dell eBiz Services is – “Exceed the Expectations” and watch your career march towards success.

This time, in “Know Your Leader” column, we are going to know about Ramgopal

Kuppuraj, Team Leader from Site Audit. Let's get dig him to know more about him:

Can you name that one person who has made a tremendous impact on your life, both personal and professional and why?

It's my parents. They are my moral

support and the driving force in

my life. My mom has contributed

many to my success in both

professional and personal life. She

was very stubborn and had very

good administrative skills from

whom I have learnt a lot in

management and administration.

She is not with us anymore

however the knowledge and

intellect that she has left in us

drives us still now and will in

future. After my mom, it is our

father who guided us in all kinds

of situations and been the moral

support for both of us till now. I

always inspire him for his

tremendous knowledge in various

domains and learnt the art of

tackling situations of any extreme.

He has inculcated us with his

ethical values, spiritual and

morality that leads us to live the

life full and happy to our eternal

destiny.

How do you balance your personal and professional life?

Simple, I don't take office matters

to home. I forget about office

when I leave to home and vice

versa. I seldom switch on my

laptop during weekends. I ensure

that I spend ample time with my

family. Importantly I don't set

wrong expectations to my family

members weekends plans. I plan

my weekends well in advance. What is the most challenging moment in your career?

Challenges were there at every

stage in my career, but it was

when I was handed with the R&D

project on D&M of scanning

machine during my tenure with

AEL Data is the most challenging.

It is a new horizon for me and

never experienced any such in my

career before. We had few

engineers for the designing and

manufacturing part to take care of

and I took the responsibility on

the overall design concept and the

software integration of the DSLR

and the hydraulics for automation

which was challenging. As a

result, I personally learnt the

operation of DSLR and how to

effectively use a DSLR camera.

Finally, in 12 months I delivered

the prototype for a commercially

viable scanning machine that can

be manufactured at low cost.

Your most memorable moment in your career.

The moment I got my promotion

as Team Leader in Brigade

Corporation.

What was the one toughest decision that you ever had to take?

Marriage. Seriously. I was never in

to that thought. However,

eventually it happened. I lost all

my bachelorhood enjoyment, still

it is one of the most memorable

events in my life. Professionally, I

don't think I have taken any

toughest decision. All has been

taken according to the situation

and I don't see them hard.

What qualities do you think as a company we should possess in today's challenging times?

The major strength of the

company lies with its employees

talent, intellect and skills. A

company should look it to

improving these strengths to

expand its business horizon. The

commercial market is fast growing

and we should possess the skills to

compete in the market. For that

we should have our talent spool

equipped and tamed for

competing the challenge.

How does your day begin and end?

At office my routine starts with

checking and replying to emails

from various stakeholders, team

members and from other

departments. Have a

check on the process status and

metrics. Track the status of the

projects initiated and provide

feedback on the next steps and

improvements. I always keep a to

do list of the items that I need to

do for the day. It gets updated

daily based on the add-on work or

requests received from

stakeholders, management and

from other folks. In the latter half

of the day, I am engaged on calls

with stakeholders before leaving

for the day.

What would be your piece of advice or suggestion to someone who wants to grow in his / her profession?

Choose the work that interests you

and be passionate about that.

Show dedication and involvement

towards your work which will

bring you growth. Be open to

receive feedbacks and criticism

that increases the opportunity to

improve your skills.

Your most favorite quote

Don't have one. I just read them

but don't take it to heart.

KNOW YOUR LEADER

Let us know about your career journey and current role.

I started my career in Sep 2000 with Brigade

Corporation (then Brigade Solutions) as a

Customer Support Rep providing technical

support to HP/Compaq consumer segment. It

was one of the most enjoyable companies

where you would love to work even on your

Off days. I grew along with the company. I

became Team Leader when I left the company

after 5 Years in 2005. Then I joined HP

technical support in Bangalore for a short

stint before joining Siemens. In Siemens I

took over the role of an Assistant Manager in

driving Content Management projects for UK

clients. My association with Siemens

continued for 2.5 years and then joined AEL

Data. AEL Data is part of AEL group (Andhra

Electronics Limited) which supplies the

electronic chips and quartz for DRDO, ISRO

and other semi-conductor companies. Where

AEL Data is into e-Publishing and eLearning.

At AEL I was managing several projects in to

Content Management and Document

Management Systems and into production of

eBooks. Apart from that, I was heading

another project in to R&D of designing and

manufacturing of book scanning machine and

had built a semi-automatic book scanner

using DSLR cameras for commercial market.

I was with AEL for more than 4 years before

parting ways to join Dell in Feb 2013. I joined

Dell as Operations Supervisor handling the

operations of Site Audit account in Dell eBiz

FSS as Assistant Manager. I have one elder

brother who is working as Associate Director for

there. He is married and has a 2 years old

daughter.

Shad only three types of circuit components--resistors, inductors, and

capacitors. But in 1971, UC Berkeley researcher Leon Chua theorized the possibility of a fourth type of component, one that would be able to measure the ow of electric current: the memristor. Now, just 37 years later, Hewlett-Packard has built one.

What is it? As its name implies, the memristor can "remember" how much current has passed through it. And by alternating the amount of current that passes through it, a memristor can also become a one-element circuit component with unique properties. Most notably, it can save its electronic state even when the current is turned off, making it a great candidate to replace today's ash memory.

Memristors will theoretically be cheaper and far faster than ash memory, and allow far greater memory densities. They could also replace RAM chips as we know them, so that, after you turn off your computer, it will remember exactly what it was doing when you turn it back on, and return to work instantly. This lowering of cost and consolidating of components may lead to affordable, solid-state computers that fit in your pocket and run many times faster than today's PCs.

Someday the memristor could spawn a whole new type of computer, thanks to its ability to remember a range of electrical states rather than the simplistic "on" and "off" states that today's digital processors recognize. By working with a dynamic range of data states in an analog mode, memristor-based computers could be capable of far more complex tasks than just shuttling ones and zeroes around.

When is it coming? Researchers say that no real barrier prevents

implementing the memristor in circuitry immediately. But it's up to the business side to push products through to commercial reality. Memristors made to replace ash memory (at a lower cost and lower power consumption) will likely appear first; HP's goal is to offer them by 2012. Beyond that, memristors will likely replace both DRAM and hard disks in the 2014-to-2016 time frame. As for memristor-based analog computers, that step may take 20-plus years.

32-Core CPUs From Intel and AMD

If your CPU has only a single core, it's officially a dinosaur. In fact, quad-core computing is now commonplace; you can even get laptop computers with four cores today. But we're really just at the beginning of the core wars: Leadership in the CPU market will soon be decided by who has the most cores, not who has the fastest clock speed. What is it? With the gigahertz race largely abandoned, both AMD and Intel are trying to pack more cores onto a die in order to continue to improve processing power and aid with multitasking operations. Miniaturizing chips further will be key to fitting these cores and other components into a limited space. Intel will roll out 32-nanometer processors (down from today's 45nm chips) in 2009.

When is it coming? Intel has been very good about sticking to its road map. A six-core CPU based on the Itanium design should be out imminently, when Intel then shifts focus to a brand-new architecture called Nehalem, to be marketed as Core i7. Core i7 will feature up to eight cores, with eight-core systems available in 2009 or 2010. (And an eight-core AMD project called Montreal is reportedly on tap for 2009.)

After that, the timeline gets fuzzy. Intel reportedly canceled a 32-core project called Keifer, slated for 2010,

possibly because of its complexity (the company won't confirm this, though). That many cores requires a new way of dealing with memory; apparently you can't have 32 brains pulling out of one central pool of RAM. But we still expect cores to proliferate when the kinks are ironed out: 16 cores by 2011 or 2012 is plausible (when transistors are predicted to drop again in size to 22nm), with 32 cores by 2013 or 2014 easily within reach. Intel says "hundreds" of cores may come even farther down the line.

Hundreds of cores may come even farther down the line.

Galene Architecture

Pre-Galene Architecture

Prior to building Galene, LinkedIn was utilizing a process that centered on an open-source library called Lucene. According to LinkedIn, this solution was used to "build a search index, searching the index for matching entities, and determining the importance of these entities through relevance scores." Their search index had two primary components to it:

Inverted Index: Mapping search terms to a list of entities that contain those terms.

Forward Index: Mapping entities to metadata about those entities.

Unfortunately, the information housed within Lucene was large and couldn't be housed on a single computer. To alleviate that problem, LinkedIn broke up the index into "shards," each which contained a portion of the index.

In addition to the structure above, LinkedIn also had to create processes that took into consideration their limited ability to make live updates to the system, which was a very costly issue.

Pre-Galene Pain Points

LinkedIn's previous system was proving not to be a scalable solution. Some of the top pain points that their organization

was facing from a search standpoint were:

Difficulty rebuilding a complete index.

Live updates were not efficient.

Scoring was inexible. The system did not support

all necessary search requirements.

Management of small open sourced components was difficult.

Having said all these, intrinsic motivation is far more effective than extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is like fulfillment, satisfaction, sense of achievement and enjoyment. To have a long lasting happiness and satisfaction, build in intrinsic motivation.

s I was conversing

Awith my friend, he greeted me with

happy news that he joined a multi-level marketing company, which sells aromatherapy products that improve air quality and help people to have a healthier life. My friend had tested the products himself and he is convinced with the value of the products. As the conversation prolonged, he confided, "I have problem in motivating myself. The products are excellent. The rewards system is good. But I can't keep myself going. Have you felt this before? That's when I realized how difficult and important it is to keep ourselves motivated to fulfill our dreams.

This is a common problem shared by all the working professionals. We all have plans to achieve success in life. But what is lacking is the motivation that keeps us going to transform our plans into action. Typically, we feel very 'excited' at the beginning when doing something new for the first time. But as times passes, we start lacking the passion and focus towards our goals. Our energy levels drop and some of us might give up in the middle of the journey.

How to Motivate Yourself for

Success

Here are the ways that I use that can effectively curb the problem of motivation and stay focused. Below are few techniques and small steps which will help you reach your goals:

READ A BOOK. Just grab a book and read; especially an inspirational book or a book of success stories. By reading these books, you not only learn from others but the story will motivate you to move ahead with your plans. It also makes you re-focus your energy on your goals rather than focusing your energy on the problems at hand.

THINK OF PURPOSE OF WHAT YOU DO.

If you don't feel motivated, think of why you want to achieve what you want. That is the purpose of doing what you are doing. Your purpose could be to improve the life of others, or help people to do things more efficiently, or to help people to make more money. Thinking of your purpose is an important way to motivate yourself.

TALK TO A SUPPORTIVE FRIEND.

Talking to a supportive friend would be able to overcome the problem of lacking motivation. You can also talk to your business partners regarding this. Find someone that you are comfortable with and share your problems with him. Sharing your problems, will make you feel re-charged and re-energized.

LISTEN TO AUDIO TAPE.

If you don't like reading, get a motivational tape and listen to it. The contents of the tape can motivate you and help you to look at things from the different perspective and from a positive outlook.

GO THROUGH YOUR GOALS DAILY.

Prepare a list of goals that you want to achieve. Write them down on a piece of paper. You should go through your goals at least once every day. You need to do this even more if you feel down and de-motivated. By doing this, you refresh your mind with the goals you have set for yourself and avoid other distractions.

DO IT.

Another way to prevent the problem of motivation is to get your hands dirty and get started with what you need to do. Sometimes you don't feel like doing what you want to do. But by 'forcing' yourself to just do it, you'll probably gain momentum little by little and without you realize, you have actually finished the task on hand. No matter what, just start with what you need to do, either you like it or not.

In this male chauvinistic society, she is a woman, who has risen up beyond her own

thoughts. Born on June 19, 1945, she grew up with her mother and two brothers in Rangoon, Burma. Her mother, Khin Kyi remained in the political sphere after the death of her husband and was appointed ambassador to India. This woman went with her, attending college there and earning a degree in politics and becoming a fanatic of Mahatmas Gandhi and a believer in civil disobedience. Later, she went on to Oxford University in England and achieving a B.A. in philosophy, politics and economics in 1964. Following her graduation, she worked for three years at the United Nations in New York City. YES, she is none other than the staunch fight of Burma, Aung San Suu Kyi.

When Suu Kyi was at Oxford, she met a fellow student, Dr. Michael Arias, who was studying Tibetan culture. They fell in love and finally got engaged in 1971 and married in 1972, settling down in England where they raised their two sons, Kim and Alexander. Life seemed peaceful for Suu Kyi until that day in 1988 when she discovered that her mother, still living in Burma, had suffered a severe stroke. Suu Kyi rushed home, promising her family that she would be back as soon as her mother was well. It wasn't long after arriving in Burma, now called Myanmar, that Suu Kyi discovered that things in her native country had changed for the worse; an oppressive military dictatorship had taken over Myanmar, denying its citizens many basic human rights. Though Suu Kyi went to care for her mother, she could not help but see what was going on, how so many people were suffering, being abused, threatened and terrified.

Becoming heavily involved with politics, Suu Kyi helped to create the National League for Democracy, a political group aimed at dismantling the military junta and installing democracy as the new form of government through peaceful demonstrations and legal elections. On August 26, 1988, with a massive poster of her father behind her, Suu Kyi stood in front of the glittering Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the holiest sites in Myanmar, and gave a beautifully

eloquent, passionate speech to a half a million people who had gathered to demonstrate. She called for an end to the government's use of violence on unarmed protesters and proposed that a committee be formed to work with the junta to resolve the crisis. Her message of hope and peace and vows of freedom roused the Burmese to ecstatic cheers, and Suu Kyi was made leader of the National League for Democracy.

The Burmese government, on the

other hand, wasn't impressed. On

April 5, 1989, as she was walking

down a street, Suu Kyi was

confronted by two soldiers. The

men ordered her to stop and

threatened to shoot her if she

didn't. A firm believer in non-

violence, Suu Kyi continued to

walk closer and closer to them.

Angry, the soldiers raised their

ries and gave her one last

warning, but before they could

pull the trigger an officer quickly

stepped in and told them to lower

their weapons.

Undeterred, Suu Kyi and her

organization pressed on and ran

in the national elections. Suu Kyi

and her party won with 82% of

the vote, making her Myanmar's

new leader and the National

League for Democracy the new

ruling party. Ignoring the election

results, they declared their

candidates the winners, arrested

and tortured several of Suu Kyi's

party members, and placed Suu

Kyi under house arrest. Not

wanting to risk a revolution by

killing Suu Kyi and turning her

into a martyr, the junta told her

that she was free to leave at any

time, but she would never be

allowed to return to Myanmar.

Suu Kyi shot back, “You will have

to take me to the airport in

chains, because otherwise I will

never leave!” In 1991, Suu Kyi

received the Nobel Prize for

Peace, making her the first

incarcerated person to win one. It

was presented to her by her

husband and their sons, making

this one of the last times she ever

saw them for many years. She

was also awarded $1.3 million

dollars in prize money, which she

quickly used to establish a health

and education fund for girls.

After six years, pressure from

foreign government caused the

Burmese junta to lighten up

slightly on Suu Kyi's house arrest,

allowing her to leave her home

for short periods of time and

speak to people who came to the

barbed wire fence to meet her.

One day, Suu Kyi's husband

Michael became ill with terminal

prostate cancer in 1997. Suu Kyi

was horrified and wanted to be

with Michael, but she couldn't

leave Myanmar and Michael

wasn't allowed into the country.

Appeals to the Burmese

government poured in from world

leaders such as Pope John Paul II

to allow Michael to visit Suu Kyi

were met by deaf ears. The junta

told Suu Kyi that she could go to

see Michael and return any time

that she wanted, but Suu Kyi

didn't trust them. Michael died

on March 27, 1999, his fifty-third

birthday, without ever seeing Suu

Kyi again.

In 2003, during one of her rare

breaks from house arrest, Suu Kyi

and several members of the

National League for Democracy

were attacked by a government

sponsored mob in which 70

members of the NLD were killed.

Suu Kyi narrowly escaped death

herself. In the aftermath, Suu Kyi

was arrested and spent three

months in jail before returning to

house arrest. No one has been

held responsible for the deaths.

Suu Kyi spent her 64th birthday

in prison, sharing her cake with

her guards before being

sentenced to three years of hard

labor.

The trial was the breaking point

for many world nations, among

them the United States, Japan,

Thailand, Western Europe, South

Africa and the U.N. The U.N.

Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon

went to Myanmar to negotiate

Suu Kyi's release, but the

Burmese president essentially

told him to go to hell. World

leaders were condemning them.

Knowing that to commit Suu Kyi

to her sentence would destroy

them, in 2009 the junta reduced

her sentence to surprise house

arrest. When U.S. President

Barak Obama and British Prime

Minister Gordon Brown both

appealed to the Burmese junta to

release their political prisoners,

Myanmar ignored them and

dismissed Suu Kyi's appeal almost

out of hand in order to keep her

from running in the 2010

elections. But the pressure and

Suu Kyi's own dogged persistence

freed her on November 13, 2010,

and on April 1, 2012, the junta

was removed and she was elected

to the Burmese parliament.

While she would like to run for

president, the Burmese

constitution was deliberately

written to keep her from running

because she “owed allegiance to

foreign powers”—meaning her

two sons.

Though, considering how much

Aung San Suu Kyi had dealt with

in her life before, I'm sure this

will be little more than a bump in

the road for her. For the next

fifteen years, Aung San Suu Kyi

was forbidden from ever leaving

her home or ever reaching out to

anyone on the outside. Looking at

her struggle that she has gone

through, she is undoubtedly a

woman to look up to.

Aung San Suu Kyi A Woman to Look Up to

Suu Kyi rushed home, promising her family that she would be back as soon as her mother was well. It wasn't long after arriving in Burma, now called Myanmar, that Suu Kyi discovered that things in her native country had changed for the worse; an oppressive military dictatorship had taken over Myanmar, denying its citizens many basic human rights. Though Suu Kyi went to care for her mother, she could not help but see what was going on, how so many people were suffering, being abused, threatened and terrified.

Becoming heavily involved with politics, Suu Kyi helped to create the National League for Democracy, a political group aimed at dismantling the military junta and installing democracy as the new form of government through peaceful demonstrations and legal elections. On August 26, 1988, with a massive poster of her father behind her, Suu Kyi stood in front of the glittering Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the holiest sites in Myanmar, and gave a beautifully

eloquent, passionate speech to a half a million people who had gathered to demonstrate. She called for an end to the government's use of violence on unarmed protesters and proposed that a committee be formed to work with the junta to resolve the crisis. Her message of hope and peace and vows of freedom roused the Burmese to ecstatic cheers, and Suu Kyi was made leader of the National League for Democracy.

The Burmese government, on the

other hand, wasn't impressed. On

April 5, 1989, as she was walking

down a street, Suu Kyi was

confronted by two soldiers. The

men ordered her to stop and

threatened to shoot her if she

didn't. A firm believer in non-

violence, Suu Kyi continued to

walk closer and closer to them.

Angry, the soldiers raised their

ries and gave her one last

warning, but before they could

pull the trigger an officer quickly

stepped in and told them to lower

their weapons.

Undeterred, Suu Kyi and her

organization pressed on and ran

in the national elections. Suu Kyi

and her party won with 82% of

the vote, making her Myanmar's

new leader and the National

League for Democracy the new

ruling party. Ignoring the election

results, they declared their

candidates the winners, arrested

and tortured several of Suu Kyi's

party members, and placed Suu

Kyi under house arrest. Not

wanting to risk a revolution by

killing Suu Kyi and turning her

into a martyr, the junta told her

that she was free to leave at any

time, but she would never be

allowed to return to Myanmar.

Suu Kyi shot back, “You will have

to take me to the airport in

chains, because otherwise I will

never leave!” In 1991, Suu Kyi

received the Nobel Prize for

Peace, making her the first

incarcerated person to win one. It

was presented to her by her

husband and their sons, making

this one of the last times she ever

saw them for many years. She

was also awarded $1.3 million

dollars in prize money, which she

quickly used to establish a health

and education fund for girls.

After six years, pressure from

foreign government caused the

Burmese junta to lighten up

slightly on Suu Kyi's house arrest,

allowing her to leave her home

for short periods of time and

speak to people who came to the

barbed wire fence to meet her.

One day, Suu Kyi's husband

Michael became ill with terminal

prostate cancer in 1997. Suu Kyi

was horrified and wanted to be

with Michael, but she couldn't

leave Myanmar and Michael

wasn't allowed into the country.

Appeals to the Burmese

government poured in from world

leaders such as Pope John Paul II

to allow Michael to visit Suu Kyi

were met by deaf ears. The junta

told Suu Kyi that she could go to

see Michael and return any time

that she wanted, but Suu Kyi

didn't trust them. Michael died

on March 27, 1999, his fifty-third

birthday, without ever seeing Suu

Kyi again.

In 2003, during one of her rare

breaks from house arrest, Suu Kyi

and several members of the

National League for Democracy

were attacked by a government

sponsored mob in which 70

members of the NLD were killed.

Suu Kyi narrowly escaped death

herself. In the aftermath, Suu Kyi

was arrested and spent three

months in jail before returning to

house arrest. No one has been

held responsible for the deaths.

Suu Kyi spent her 64th birthday

in prison, sharing her cake with

her guards before being

sentenced to three years of hard

labor.

The trial was the breaking point

for many world nations, among

them the United States, Japan,

Thailand, Western Europe, South

Africa and the U.N. The U.N.

Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon

went to Myanmar to negotiate

Suu Kyi's release, but the

Burmese president essentially

told him to go to hell. World

leaders were condemning them.

Knowing that to commit Suu Kyi

to her sentence would destroy

them, in 2009 the junta reduced

her sentence to surprise house

arrest. When U.S. President

Barak Obama and British Prime

Minister Gordon Brown both

appealed to the Burmese junta to

release their political prisoners,

Myanmar ignored them and

dismissed Suu Kyi's appeal almost

out of hand in order to keep her

from running in the 2010

elections. But the pressure and

Suu Kyi's own dogged persistence

freed her on November 13, 2010,

and on April 1, 2012, the junta

was removed and she was elected

to the Burmese parliament.

While she would like to run for

president, the Burmese

constitution was deliberately

written to keep her from running

because she “owed allegiance to

foreign powers”—meaning her

two sons.

Though, considering how much

Aung San Suu Kyi had dealt with

in her life before, I'm sure this

will be little more than a bump in

the road for her. For the next

fifteen years, Aung San Suu Kyi

was forbidden from ever leaving

her home or ever reaching out to

anyone on the outside. Looking at

her struggle that she has gone

through, she is undoubtedly a

woman to look up to.

Aung San Suu Kyi A Woman to Look Up to

I grew up in Craiova, a small town in the southern part of Romania and I moved to

Bucharest 5 years ago to connue my studies. I have studied English and Dutch

languages and literatures at the Bucharest University and I have majored in

American Ficon.

A Day in the Life of Andreea Iacob - Site Audit (Romania)

When and how does your day start and end?My days are rarely alike, because working in shifts makes it impossible to have a routine. The weeks when I'm working in the morning shift I usually wake up very early, before 6 AM, because I don't like to hurry and I do my best to avoid the morning rush. I come in work about half an hour earlier, so I have time for a cup of coffee and plan my day ahead. I leave work at 4 PM and I usually go straight home, where I live with my boyfriend and my sister. We all meet in the afternoon for cocktail hour, we chat, play board games or watch a movie together.

The weeks when I'm working in the afternoon shift I wake up later, around 10 AM, and I typically see to administrative tasks. I start work at 4 PM and I come back home at midnight. My boyfriend is usually waiting for me to arrive and we have a chat or watch a little TV before retiring for the day.

What gets you excited about coming to work every day?The various thrilling challenges that arise every day and finding a resolution for each of them. I also enjoy getting together with my colleagues and having a blast on coffee breaks.

How does working at Dell help you as a professional?Ever since I have started working at Dell I have never

stopped learning, and I think this is the most important thing I have acquired here. I have discovered and perfected many of my skills, and day by day I grow even more thirsty for knowledge and I'm looking for new ways to widen my horizons.

What do you love the most in your day to day life? What I love the most are the moments spent with my family and the long chats I'm having with my parents every day. Although they are still living in my hometown, no day passes without hearing from each other.

What do you hate the most in your day to day life?Rush hours. I mostly take the subway to travel anywhere in Bucharest, which gets very crowded and hot during rush hours.

What is the most challenging aspect of your job?The most challenging aspect of my job has been learning how to efficiently communicate with people from different cultures. What we consider common in Romania might be frowned upon in other countries, so I have taken numerous cultural awareness courses which have helped me understand and

appreciate our differences.

Did you have any particular role models – someone you looked at and thought, “I want to do what that person is doing”?I have had many role models over the years, but not in the sense that I wanted to do what they did, but that I wanted to be more like them and have the moral traits they had. I believe that a person is not defined by their profession, but by the way they pursue it and how they regard the people around them.

What advice would you give to someone who is fresh to this industry?Never stop learning and keep in mind that the way you perform your work tells everything about you.

What do you do apart from your daily official work day or for fun?I love reading, mostly American fiction and postmodern poetry, but I am also very passionate about psychoanalysis and I enjoy learning about it. Sometimes, after work, I like to relax by riding my bike in the

park. I also have a lot of fun playing board games or doing puzzles, and I love watching comedy TV shows and Northern European movies.

What is your ambition for life?To remain true to myself, be grateful for everything that comes my way and not to forget to enjoy it.

What is that one dream that you want to fulfill in your life?My dream is to establish a donkey sanctuary one day. In Romania, donkeys are used merely as draught animals, most of them living below subsistence levels and performing works that are too harsh for them. I hope that in the future I will be able to save many exploited donkeys and provide them a happy work-free life.

Three things that complete Andreea Iacob as a person…My family, discovering and pursuing new excing passions, and my love for all living creatures.

In this fast paced corporate environment, the life is always on its toes.

We barely have time to sit back and relax. We rarely take conscious steps for our health. Even the small steps to keep our health fit, is not done. During a busy morning, it's easy to let breakfast fall low in the list of priorities, but taking just a few minutes to have something to eat can really make a difference in the day. As stated above, Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast provides the body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast - that's where its name originates, breaking the fast! Without breakfast you are effectively running on empty, like trying to start the car with no petrol! Nutritionists advise that breakfast should be eaten within two hours of waking and a healthy breakfast should provide calories in the range of

20-35% of your guideline daily allowance (GDA).

Breakfast foods are good sources of vital nutrients such as calcium, iron and B vitamins as well as protein and fibre.

The body needs these indispensable nutrients

and study shows that if these are missed at breakfast, they are less likely to be compensated for later in the day. Research shows those who eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight and more likely to be within their ideal weight range compared with breakfast skippers. If you skip breakfast, you're more likely to reach for high sugar and fatty snacks mid-morning. Breakfast also restores glucose levels, an essential carbohydrate that is needed for

the brain to function. Many studies have shown how eating breakfast can improve memory and concentration levels and it can also make us happier as it can improve mood and lower stress levels. "Eating breakfast has long term health benefits. It can reduce obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes.”

Those who eat breakfast are 50 per cent less likely, according to US researchers, to have blood sugar problems. Consequently, they have a decreased risk of developing diabetes or having high cholesterol levels which could lead to heart disease. Eating breakfast is the secret to

Apart from providing us with energy, Breakfast is an excellent occasion to eat together as a family when possible. Establishing good breakfast habits in childhood and maintaining them throughout adolescence may be an important factor in reducing the prevalence of breakfast skipping and developing good eating habits that last a lifetime. Healthy eating doesn't necessarily mean dieting, it refers instead to eating sensible, balanced amounts of the right foods at the right times – and that includes a good breakfast.

Imoving lifestyle, life is all about being on toes with the

world and trying to be the best in our profession in some way or the other, earn money, competing with each other, etc. But the truth is WE have stopped looking around us. We have stopped noticing and valuing the environment in which we live in. We have created a cocoon for ourselves so much so that our eyes have become blinded by it. The life outside is completely different and beyond our perception.

Recently while I was walking on the road, I saw a destitute family on the platform. There was a father, a mother, a daughter and a son. The father

asked his children to go and beg for money which would feed them that afternoon. And the girl child refused immediately, as she did not want to do it. After her parents coerced her a little more, she was left with no other option. This is just one small incident that happened in one part of my life. This might have happened every day in front of our eyes, but we have failed to notice this. This is simplest form of “Child Trafficking”.

In simple terms Child Trafficking is all about “recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, and/or receipt” of a child for the purpose of exploitation. Child trafficking, a human rights

violation, unlike many other issues is found in both developed and developing nations. Child Trafficking seems to be a ritual followed globally from ages, when slavery and bondage was at its pinnacle. Though statistics regarding the magnitude of child trafficking are difficult to obtain, the International Labor Organization estimates that 1.2 million children are trafficked every year from India.

There are many economic, political, cultural and religious factors that contribute to the spread of this virus in the society. This can range from forced child begging, lack of proper laws in place to protect the rights of these children, poverty, increase in population, female infanticide, child marriage, etc.

It has been found by UNICEF that children who are forced to beg by third parties are often removed from their families, surrender the majority of their income to their exploiter, endure unsafe work and living conditions, and are at times maimed to increase profits. These children are forced through these abusive acts receive little to no education, and hence are unable to fight for their rights. And we as a society have forgotten to look deep into their pain.

As we move forward the

timeline, it is vital for all of us to come together and resolve this evil and eradicate it completely from its roots. It will be a long journey and one individual person can never do it. It's all about working together for a better place to live in. One of the most significant steps that need to be taken is, executing the laws in practice which are already there in place. Parallel to this, we have to create awareness among the public and develop conditions that will help people to seek aid for their safety. There are many NGOs which work in this field. As always finance, logistics, media and government policies have failed to put them in limelight.

We always see the outer circle of life and talk about dirty politics, corruption, corporate frauds, ination, unemployment etc. But beyond our imagination, there is a world, where the bud is crushed before it opens up to be a ower. Let's come out of our shallow life, look beyond this thin line, and march towards a society where our children are safe.

Presentation skills are imbibed in us. Some are better than others. The primary goal for presentation skills is to

be better than the competitors, whoever and whatever that is. The secondary goal is to make better presentations with every presentation that delivered in past. In short, "Effective Presentation Skills are Important”

Having the grander product is never enough to assure business success. Apple is recognized for offering prominent verge technology and Steve Jobs is often sculpted as a superior orator. If one is not the Apple of the industry, just imagine how much better and refine the presentations need to be. Business leaders are often expected to present their message with confidence and clarity to staff, clients, partners, investors and sometimes the public. Millions of dollars can ride on these presentations.

Better presentation skills reduce the stress on presenters which means they will be more willing to present and more effective with their communication. Better presenters can deliver their 30 minute presentation in 5 minutes or 90 seconds when needed. Better presenters also save time while preparing because they prepare their presentation more efficiently.

One should take effort to know the main purpose of the presentation communicating to the audience. To improve the presentation skills, the first and foremost step is to concentrate on how effectively one communicates with the listeners. Remember that the key to have good presentation skills is not only though the transmission of the message but through the reception of the message as well.

The purpose of the

presentation should be centered on catching the attention of the audience and keeping it; they should be persuaded of the merits and the benefits of the presentation. The content of the presentation is always essential. It is vital to prepare an in-depth and comprehensive study of the topic which is presented in an intelligent and confident fashion.

Developing presentation skills and giving an effective presentation is not an easy task. It is said that some people are born with presentation skills, yet it can be acquired as well. Basically, it defines one's character as a mature professional. Anyone who understands the basics of presentation skills and knows how to put it into proper application is a good indication of a potential company asset. It is not easy to be speaking before a group of professionals. This also explains why presentation skill is important.

Always remember that conducting a presentation is not merely an obligation; it is a talent and a skill. One should not just perceive a presentation to be a typical company practice, because this characterizes one as a true professional. This is an art, when learnt, can be your best friend for lifetime and help climbing the ladder of success in the aspect of one's career.
