Park Boulevard on 14th Ave NW - The Vision
east ballard community association eastballard.wordpress.com
From the Ship Canal to Ballard High School, 14th Ave NW is an underutilized, unsafe, environmentally challenged stretch of road.We want to transform this street into a Park Boulevard that creates much needed open space that improves safety, is good for the environment and builds community.

• Different character north and south of Market
east ballard community association eastballard.wordpress.com
North of Market St:• Slow traffic• Create park space• Focus on pedestrian spaces
South of Market St:• Maintain industrial character• Maintain truck access• Moderate street
improvements
Economics of a Park in the right-of-way
Belltown• Land cost = $500+ per square foot• Bell St Park only viable alternative
East Ballard• Develop Park on 14th:
o 2 blocks = 12,000 – 16,000 square feet of park space
o ~$1.5 million for development• Develop Park on private
parcel:o ~$1.5 million for land onlyo further cost for development

Next Steps for Parks Funding
1.Which blocks on 14th Ave should be first?2.How should the road be re-configured?3.What elements/activities should the park have?
