In pursuit of EAW’s core value – fi nding new ways to perfect every aspect of loudspeaker design – the company’s globally renowned engineering team consistently leads the audio industry with innovative technologies and state-of-the-art application-specifi c loudspeaker designs.

When company founders Kenton Forsythe and Ken Berger opened their doors in 1978, live sound was in its infancy. Existing speaker designs borrowed heavily from cinema system technology and “homebrew” experimentation dominated the industry. No standards existed and no one had reexamined the fundamentals of loudspeaker designin decades... Enter EAW.

As one of the very fi rst manufacturers dedicated to reinforcement loudspeakers, EAW began with design practices that, while not unknown, had not been embraced by the industry. These included all-horn confi gurations for high effi ciency and dependable pattern control, three-way designs with midrange elements to maximize vocal clarity, and dedicated crossovers for smooth response with high power handling. By combining such techniques in pre-packaged systems with robust enclosures built to meet the demands of touring, EAW soon earned a reputation for high-performance manufactured loudspeakers that delivered consistent sound “out of the box”.

EAW has always maintained close relationships with its users and, most importantly, listens to them — often taking design suggestions directly from the fi eld. The result is a broad line of product built expressly to service the needs of audio professionals. Expanding upon and refi ning its system design approach, EAW has introduced a stream of innovations that have become industry standards, including customized systems purpose-built for specifi c installations, broadband pattern control methods that enhance directivity in the low frequencies, DSP techniques for array optimization, beam steering and most recently, FChart, EAW Focusing, EAW Resolution, CSA Technology and U-Net.

As EAW continually evolves to accommodate new technologies, the company remains true to its guiding principle: a passion for excellence. The AX Series features Concentric Summation Array™ technology for highly coherent sound — both on and off axis. The LF subsystem has an acoustic origin along the axis of the coaxial MF/HF components, creating a true uni-axial design. All AX enclosures are identically sized, dual trapezoids. The DX1208 is a 12-input, 8-output DSP matrix mixer designed for commercial and install applications. Eight inputs are mic/line capable, with selectable 48-volt phantom power provided when the user selects mic level. Four additional inputs on unbalanced RCA connectors allow the user to “stack” inputs, increasing the number of audio sources that can be connected. An additional four digital inputs are available on S/PDIF with sample rate conversion. All 12 inputs are included in the audio matrix and can be assigned DSP functions prior to distributing signal at the line level.

The KF850 Series is the world touring standard, accepted in more technical riders than any other loudspeaker. True 3-way design dramatically improves the quality of vocal reproduction, while the cone-driven midrange horn and horn-loaded woofer extend pattern control to the lowest octaves. JFL SERIESThe JFL210 provides a 90° nominal horizontal beamwidth and 15° nominal vertical beamwidth. HF response may be tailored for single-box, multi-box, and long throw applications using a rear panel switch in single-amp powering mode or DSP in bi-amp powering mode. Performance can be further enhanced with an EAW UX8800 digital processor with EAW Focusing technology. SMS100, 200 and 400 FamilyTheta Technology brings a combination of sophisticated pattern control solutions developed by EAW for large professional loudspeaker products to aff ordable, small-format commercial loudspeakers. The results are signifi cant improvements in directionality, output levels and sound quality over products of comparable size. SMS100, 200 and 400 loudspeakers are available with conventional U-brackets or an optional, proprietary mounting system called Clip-Fit. All connections for the loudspeaker are contained within the Clip-Fit wall-mount unit via a single Molex connector. With the unit mounted at the designated position on a wall, the installer then just “clips” the loudspeakers onto the Clip-Fit arm, and in this one motion, the loudspeaker is mounted, the audio connection is terminated, and the loudspeaker is live.

DX1208The DX1208 is a 12-input, 8-output DSP matrix mixer designed for commercial and install applications. Eight inputs are mic/line capable, with selectable 48-volt phantom power provided when the user selects mic level. Four additional inputs on unbalanced RCA connectors allow the user to “stack” inputs, increasing the number of audio sources that can be connected. An additional four digital inputs are available on S/PDIF with sample rate conversion. All 12 inputs are included in the audio matrix and can be assigned DSP functions prior to distributing signal at the line level.

The DX1208 can also receive up to 6 logic inputs and send up to 3 logic outputs, combined on a single 18-pin connector and programmable via the included DX Navigator control software. Control of the DX1208 via third party systems (i.e., AMX and Crestron) is attained with a serial connection (DB9) on the rear panel. Two RJ-45 connections are provided as well for linking multiple (up to 8) DX Link enabled products together in a ring topology network.

The DX1208 is supplied with DX Navigator control software that allows access to all of the system’s settings and confi gurations. The expected range of user-adjustable processing such as EQ fi lters, gates, compressors/limiters, priority assignment, delay, gain, and crossovers are included. In addition, up to 24 programmable presets are available per DX1208; the programming interface is fl exible, with connection via the USB port on the front panel or the Ethernet jack or DB9 connector on the rear panel. The DX1208 employs a universal power supply, 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz.

While many standard EAW loudspeaker products are available in versions with weather-protection and choice of black or white fi nish, this may not always suffi ce. Architectural concerns, extreme weather and diffi cult coverage areas often require a more custom solution.

To meet the needs of these complex installs, EAW combines the ingenuity of dedicated engineers, the astute assessment of the ASG Group and the fl exibility of in-house manufacturing to design and build custom versions of EAW loudspeakers for nearly any situation.

Here is a sampling of what is possible when working with the BTO Group:

Custom Color Finishes: Color matching services are available; paint color defi nitions should be specifi ed using a Sherwin Williams® color number. Color matching services are available. FRz Series and LA Series products are only available with a black fi nish.

Stainable Finishes: A stainable, bare wood fi nish may be specifi ed. EAW does not stain cabinets due to wide possible variances applying stain. Stainable enclosures are built using woods hand-selected for pleasing aesthetics.

Connector Deviations: Non-standard input connectors may also be specifi ed. Examples of non-standard connectors include NL4-type instead of barrier strip, addition of a loop-thru connector, wiring changes, etc.

Horn Rotation Deviation: Products with rotatable HF or MF/HF horns may be specifi ed with horns “rotated” 90 degrees from the standard confi guration at time of order.
