Introduction

Based on 17 goals, Agenda 2030 is calling for action from poorer andricher countries. Attention will begiven to people that are the mostmarginalised to make sure that noone is left behind.

This agenda should be put into action by a partnership between all countries, all stakeholders, and allpeople.

In September 2015 the memberstates of the UN set an agenda toend poverty, promote peace, sharewealth and protect the planet by2030.

Goal 1Stop poverty around the world.Poverty doesn’t just mean beingpoor, it can mean not having otherthings you need to live a good life.

Goal 2Stop people going hungry, makesure everyone can get the good,healthy food they need and useways of growing food that will work into the future.

Goal 3Make sure people are in goodhealth and know how to make decisions to stay healthy all through their lives.

Goal 4Make sure everybody has equal opportunities and access to inclusiveeducation all through their lives.

Goal 5Empower women and girls andmake things equal for them.

Goal 6Make sure everyone has access toclean water and clean ways of getting rid of waste.

Goal 7Make sure people have access toenergy or power, like electricity andgas, and make sure the systems thatmake this energy are modern andsustainable. This might mean energyfrom new sources such as the wind,or sun.

Goal 8Make sure everyone has access toemployment opportunities, andmake sure they have jobs that last.This will help make the economystronger.

Goal 9Build good systems for the modernworld, use new ideas and makesure cities are ready for the future.

Goal 10Make the difference between rich people and poor people smaller.Support marginalised groups suchas people with disabilities to havethe same opportunities.

Goal 11Make cities and other places peoplelive safer, more inclusive and readyfor the future.

Goal 12Make sure people and countriesaround the world don’t have morethan their fair share of importantgoods, like food and energy, so thatthere is enough for everybody.

Goal 13Take action to stop climate changeand its impacts from getting worse.

Goal 14Look after the oceans and seas better. We get many importantthings from them and we need tomake sure we have them in the future.

Goal 15Protect and look after the land onearth, including special places likeforests and deserts. We need peopleto respect the land and everything it gives us so that we have what weneed in the future.

Goal 16Promote peace, justice and equalityof people in different societies allaround the world.

Goal 17Stand strong together and find better ways of working together tomake sure all of these goals for sustainable development into thefuture can happen.
