Together Teach your children to pray. We all
remember when Jesus was asked:
"Lord, teach us to pray, just as John
taught his disciples." Luke 11:1 NIV
Children may not ask, but they need
to learn how to pray.
Children learn Powerful lessons
when we pray. Our example and the
words they hear go deeply into their
minds.
•When we pray, our children learn
that we have a sincere relationship
with the Lord. Is Jesus real to you or
just something you do? Teach by your
example. We’re not talking A.C.T.S. or
some other aid. This is about children
seeing that Christianity is real for you. •When we pray we teach that we
believe prayers are heard and that we
expect providential help from God. It
is more than “positive thinking” and
mental re-enforcement. God hears us. •When we pray, our children learn
what we believe. We believe in God’s
love, mercy, involvement and desire
for the best for all men. A Lord who
is not angry or vindictive, but a God
who keeps his promises and will save
his children.
Private prayer is good, Mt 6:6, but
children need to learn by hearing a
parent pray. It is not showing off with
fancy or religious language, it letting
children see into your heart and learn
what is important to you. Hearing a
parent pray for you, can be a life
changing event for a child.
It is a blessing for a child to have
memories of a parent praying. How
wonderful for a child who is asked,
“what do you remember about your
parents?” to be able to reply, “their
prayers.” Do your children a favor,
pray with them. Charles M Clodfelter

Dear Eastwood Church of Christ Family and friends Thank you for your sincere prayers and blessings for my missionary trips to Leon, Guanajuato and Valle Bravo near Mexico City, Mexico, and also for the mission trip planned in October, 2015. Because of your continuous prayers, I am back home safe and sound. Thank you for your garage sale donations which assisted in supporting this mission. I am planning a garage sale on Saturday, Sept. 12th, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. On July 1st, me and Carla Borja Lowe and the team of 29 members from 9 various congregations from Texas and Mexico began training the team members (including a dentist, neutrality nutrition dietitian, and a hair stylist) for the two planned Vacation Bible Schools and Medical/Hygiene campaign. After our three day training, for consistency purposes, for the Super Heroes theme, we made several purchases to prepare for the events. On July 4th, we passed out 500 bottles of water to recruit attendance for the Church of Christ Vacation Bible School and Medical Campaign services. Yes, we held two Vacation Bible Schools during the week of July 6th through the 10th. One of the Vacation Bible School was at the children's home and the other was at the Church of Christ in Leon, Guanajuato. At the Children's home (Casa Hogar) there were 39 children. The children were rejoicing during VBS and the children had tears in their eyes during some songs, that touched their hearts. To add to the success of the mission, there were two baptisms in the Church of Christ in Leon, Guanajuato, MX. On July 13-14, Carla and I traveled to Valle Bravo to coordinate and make a second payment to the hotel management for the women's retreat planned for October 14th through the 16th, 2015. The next missionary trip planned will be to the Church of Christ, a Spanish congregation, to be held in Nashville, Tennessee on September 18th to 21st. I will be joining a team of 6 to 7 women in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, area and will be driving from there. Please continue to keep me in your prayers and thank you for your generosity in assisting this Missionary Ministry. Your sister in Christ, Margaret Lee

S ignposts and billboards grab your attention sometime. Today I saw one that read, “Sit less and Move more!” Now that’s a sign that makes you want to
hide. Basically, it is says “get off your duff and get going!” I take this as more than just doing more exercise, but other important things as well. We all are capable of neglectfulness or procrastination. Procrastination can be costly.
Sometime you find people on the side of the road because they failed to fill-up with gas or check their water or even to top off their oil. Now that is an uncomfortable feeling. But the most dangerous thing we can neglect is our spiritual life. We forget to pray. We forget our obligation to serve others, or we just get where we don’t care. The latter issue is a case of deeper problems. You might be coming down with a disease known as “the hardening of the heart.” It can be fatal. You see when you develop that condition your heart becomes callous and unfeeling toward God. If you find yourself, with these signs, I highly recommend that you visit with Dr. Jesus Christ. I believe he has just the cure. Keep the faith! Blessings, Darrell _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
