From the President: Whewwww!!!!! The past year has flown by and another academic year is about to begin. We look forward to an exciting 2013-2014 year as a Chapter and trust that the fall will bring temperate weather. It has been an honor to serve as President for the last two years. Our chapter includes dynamic, remarkable members who are making fantastic contributions to nursing and who work toward the achievement of Sigma Theta Tau International’s vision. My tenure as President was supposed to come to an end. However, due to a lack of a candidate, I will serve as President for another year. From the Annual Planning Meeting in June 2012 to the 33nd Annual Induction Ceremony in April 2013 and everything in between, time really did fly!! Once again, we participated in the Annual STTI Tri-State Consortium Brunch. It was the 26th year for the Tri-State Consortium Brunch;; it is the longest running consortium in STTI’s history. We had a very successful Research Day at Immaculata University in March 2013. Several podium presentations and posters sparked ideas for practice and possible changes for nursing education. Professor Susan Politsky from Holy Family University received the Chapter’s Research Award. The Graduate Scholarship was awarded to Lorraine Micheletti and the Undergraduate scholarship was awarded to Mariya Kisil. Please be sure to spread the word about our research award and scholarships. The research award and scholarships are open to all members of the Chapter. Please look for the applications on our website;; applications need to be completed by February 28, 2014. We welcomed 258 new members at our 33nd Annual Induction Ceremony in April. Dr. Rosalie Mirenda, PhD, RN, President of Neumann University, was our inspirational speaker. Dr. Mary Wombwell, EdD, RN received the President’s Award. As I have found over the last several years, Delta Tau chapter has many opportunities for professional development and networking. This coming year, in November, we will send two representatives to the 42nd Biennial Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. Continued on page 2…….

A Vision to Lead
To create a global community of nurses who lead in using nursing scholarship,
Continued….. From the President: Those are just some of the highlights. As you can see, Delta Tau, as well as Sigma Theta Tau International, grows and changes every day! Don’t be left behind;; please stay involved in your chapter. You will be glad that you did! Active participation has given me the opportunity to lead, to achieve, and to succeed both professionally and personally. Thank you to the leaders and scholars I have met during the past year. You are truly inspirational and continually enhance the nursing profession. Thank you to Delta Tau, the Board of Directors, and members for giving me this opportunity to grow. What does Delta Tau have to offer you? That is a question you will need to answer yourself. I can assure you that there is something here for everyone. The board members and I look forward to serving you this year. In order to serve you, we want to hear from you. What can Delta Tau Chapter-At- Large do to help you with your nursing career? What types of events would you like to see us sponsor? What would make you become more involved? Anything you would like to share with us, we would like to hear it. Please take a few minutes and send your comments to me via E-mail at [email protected]. We hope you have a healthy and productive fall and look forward to seeing you at Delta Tau At-Large-Chapter events throughout the upcoming year. Kathryn V. Hayes, PhD, RN-BC, CNE
