CHOIR CAMP 2014 AUGUST 18 - 23, 2014

The Institute’s Choir Camp 2014 will take place during the third week of August and will be held again in Kentucky at Mount Saint Joseph, the Motherhouse of the Ursuline Order.

As in previous years, the campers will be im-mersed in an authentically Catholic setting of study, prayer, and play, under the guidance of fac-ulty members led by Mr. Botkins, Abbé Alex and other adult counselors. The campers’ daily routine will include studying vocal technique, Gregorian chant, Latin and composition; assisting at daily Mass in the Extraordinary Form; Rosary walks; chanting the Litany of the Sacred Heart, and many opportunities to work together, play togeth-er, and perform.

A priest of the Institute will be present for daily Mass and confessions. The intensive training from previous camps has already borne rich fruits, and contributed significantly to the beautiful litur-gy we experience every Sunday at St. Francis de Sales Oratory. As do many eager campers, we look forward to a fruitful Choir Camp 2014!

Registration starts on March 7. Please contact the rectory office if you are interested.

PAINTERS NEEDED We are looking for volunteers who have the time and ability to paint rooms in the convent. The rooms will be used to host guests during the Priest Retreat and Ordinations in August 2014.

If you are interested and able to help, please con-tact the Rectory office at (314) 771-3100 and ask for Wally Feld. Thank you!

NEEDED: BULLETIN ADVERTISERS

The Oratory’s weekly Sunday bulletin is provided by a bulletin service company, J. S. Paluch, which will cover the cost of printing as long as there is sufficient advertising revenue.

Lack of advertisers means the Oratory will be charged to maintain the same quality and vol-ume of copies, starting April 27. To minimize the immediate impact, we have already reduced the number of copies by 25%, but we could use your help in finding more advertisers for our bul-letin.

If you have a favorite business in the communi-ty you live in (restaurants, florists, hardware stores, contractors, professional services, veteri-narians, real estate agents, pharmacies, spas and hairdressers, auto repair shops, funeral homes, plumbers, nursing homes, supermarkets, health clubs, and so on), please encourage them to ad-vertise in the Sunday bulletin, or leave the business name and contact information with the Oratory office, and we will forward it to the publisher representative.

The ads may display strictly business information, or include a message expressing support for the Oratory, or for a Catholic cause. The visibility in the Sunday bulletin throughout the year will cer-tainly help the Oratory community stay connected and show our commitment to St. Francis de Sales Oratory as part of this neighborhood. At the same time the year-long exposure of businesses in the bulletin is an excellent way to advertise effective-ly in this part of St. Louis.

TO ALL OUR GUESTS... Canon Wiener and the faithful of St. Francis de Sales Oratory welcome you, and hope that your time in the “Cathedral of South St. Louis” may be an opportunity to share in the tradition of the Roman Catholic Faith. Please enjoy the beauty of this building dedicated to St. Francis de Sales, co-patron of the INSTITUTE OF CHRIST THE KING SOVEREIGN PRIEST. According to the liturgical tradition, and the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, Holy Communion is re-ceived kneeling and on the tongue. All visitors who are not of the Catholic faith are welcome to join us in pray-er, but are requested not to receive Holy Communion. Because the reception of Holy Communion is the sign of Divine and Ecclesial unity, only practicing Catholics who are free of mortal sin, and in full communion with the Catholic Church should present themselves for Holy Communion. We pray for the full visible unity among all Christians. To receive more information about the Oratory please fill out a contact card available at the entrance of the church. If you desire to become a member of the Catholic Church, contact the rectory. St. Francis de Sales Ora-tory is an Oratory of the INSTITUTE OF CHRIST THE KING SOVEREIGN PRIEST in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. All contributions to the Oratory are sincerely appreciated and are tax deductible.
