alleluIa, our Joy Is coMplete! Many years ago, we were in Hawaii with my brother and his family for Easter. Early on Easter morning, just as the sun was rising, Steve lifted up his little girl and pointed to the sun coming up over the mountain. The sky was a blaze of pinks and golds and he said to her, “Do you see that, Darcy? That’s God!”

It was an Easter moment as sure as the one in our gospel today. Out of the darkness of night, light came and we were awe struck by it’s beauty. My niece now has a little girl of her own and she will lift her up to see God in her life. The Easter message will be carried forward.

Easter is not a fairytale or a fantastic story out of the past to be read once a year and forgotten. It is the story of joy and new life. An event that trans-formed a day of sadness into a day filled with promise and hope.

In the gospel, all the disciples came and saw but one of them came and saw and believed. We want to be that disciple. To see the empty tomb is to see the darkness and be left with questions and confusion, feelings of doubt and abandonment. But to move beyond the tomb, to penetrate the mystery, is to touch the heart of the story.

This moment in history became a living testimony to the power of light to overcome darkness, life to overcome death and the power of love to over-come anything. One person believed and the story was changed from one of defeat to one that lived on as the greatest love story ever told.

We celebrate and pass this story on. We find joy in the ways that God is present. We bear witness to our belief that new life follows death as surely as sunrise follows sunset and that love in all the ways we receive and give it, is more powerful than anything. Our believing is our, “Alleluia!” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~“You lose the joy, you lose it all. No joy, no hope….no understanding of the suffering…no meaning to life…” Jubilantly he concludes, “Oh yeah – It’s gotta be the joy!” This daily reminder of mine urges me to consider how joy makes all the difference. God of Joy – Help me rejoice in the world as You rejoice in me, and help me to make manifest Your love and joy for Your creation. Amen. Nancy McGaraghan, parishioner

no spIrItualIty tuesday sessIon on aprIl 23 Spirituality Tuesday Returns to St. Albert The Great

Hospitality Center on April 30 at 7:00 pmOn April 30th we will continue our video series with Lesson 6 of "The Mystery of God: The God Who Is Love" with our host, Susan Olsen.

The book of Genesis reveals that we are made in the image and likeness of God. What does this mean? For St. Augustine it affirmed that our own traits—our minds, our self-knowledge, our self-love–can tell us something about God as a Trinity. What is Christianity finally about? What is the deepest meaning of being and all reality? The Christian answer is this: God is love, a play of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 7PM to 8:30PM in the Hospitality Center at St. Albert the Great Church.

May, Month oF MaryIt’s a long time tradition to celebrate May as the month of Mary. In order to honor and thank our Blessed Mother for so many blessings received through her intercession we would like to propose several activities:

    1. Art. Those with artistic talents are invited to create a piece of art

related to Mary (painting, sculpture, quilting, etc). We would like to have an exhibit in the halls of each of our churches during May (and Thomas House).

    2. Prayer. If you are more of a writer or a poet, we invite you to create a prayer dedicated to Mary. All prayers should be submitted to me and we would like to have prayer walls where we can post those prayers and also place petitions to Mary.

    3. Community prayer. We will explore praying together the Rosary before or after our Sunday Masses. We hope this can work ,and if it does, we will carry this practice through the month of May.

    4. Honor all women. We are planning to honor all the women of our parish by offering them lunch. This is still in the planning stage and we will share more info when ready.

Let’s honor our Blessed Mother. We hope that many will be interested in participating.

    Fr. Stasys Mikalonis, Pastor
