Participants

WIN-LA increases opportunities for LA County residents by inclusion of priority populations from historically underrepresented communities that have met challenges, such as emancipated foster youth, homeless, involvement in the criminal justice system, those lacking a GED and veterans. In the spirit of inclusion of priority communities, WIN-LA will also outreach to community college students and women.

What are the eligibility requirements?All program participants must be at least 18 years old with a legal right to work in the United States.

Where do I attend orientation and meet with my career coach?Participants will attend an orientation and meet with their career coach at one of the 11 WIN-LA Career Service Centers selected during registration.

How will my career coach assist me?After the WIN-LA orientation, career coaches will guide individual participants through the remainder of the process, including identification of a career pathway and development of a personalized career pathway plan.

What if I do not have experience in transportation?Experience is not required. Career coaches collaborate with participants to develop individualized career pathway plans inclusive of the necessary training and certifications needed for job postings.

How much time should I expect to commit to this program?Participants will commit to attending an orientation, participating in career pathway planning, and enrollment in Transportation Workforce Readiness Training. Additional commitments are dependent upon the participant’s individualized career pathway plan developed with their career coach.

Will I receive a position through WIN-LA?There is no guarantee of employment, but participants are provided opportunities to compete for open and available positions. Additionally, participants have access to a specialized employment portal whichfast-tracks individuals to a winning careerin transportation.
