Students who are eligible will be receiving a letter in the mail this upcoming week. Students are selected based on individual needs and teacher recommendations. Parents have the ability to approve or deny the recommendation. The sessions will last 4 weeks and meet 3 days per week from Tuesday to Thursday. Classes will begin on July 8 and end July 31. All classes will take place in Dwight from 8:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. There will not be a charge for the summer session. Parents will be responsible for transportation. East Butler teachers will lead the sessions focusing on math and reading. Please contact Mr. Biltoft at school if you have additional questions. ________________________________________________________________________ PARENTS, PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR HEAD LICE. Please be observant and watch your child’s behavior. Frequent head scratching may be the first sign of head lice. We recommend weekly inspection of your child’s head. Look for: Live Lice (especially at the back of the neck and behind the ears); Eggs or Nits (female lice attach nits 1/2 to 1 inch away from the scalp); Lice Feces (it looks like black dust and may be found on the scalp or on pillows or shirt collars). Insecticidal shampoos/rinses are a treatment option. Combing with a lice comb is the only way to remove nits from the hair. Once a child has been deloused, steps will be needed to prevent re-infestation. Examine all members in the household regularly. Wash bed linens and recently worn clothes in hot, soapy water in a washing machine. Drying in a 140 degree dryer will kill both lice and nits. Instruct children not to share combs, brushes, hats or other articles of clothing that might be contaminated. _________________________________________________________________________
