However, as restrictions ease slightly we can reflect on this time to find some positives that will hopefully remain with us indefinitely. One of the main positives is a rejuvenated sense of connectedness with family and the community. Another major positive is our greater sense of appreciation and gratitude. It is not until our freedoms are taken away from us that we realise how much of our life we take for granted. With this in mind and as we return to normality, we do so with a renewed mindset. In any challenging situation there are always positives to be found. 2021 Enrolments Parents of our current Kindergarten students should have received an Application for Enrolment for next year. Please complete these forms and return to the school as soon as possible. Due to the restrictions with parents being unable to enter school grounds, at this stage, all we require is this application form. Parents will be contacted should we require any further information or documentation. 2021 Applications for Enrolment are being accepted for all year levels. If you know of new families with school-aged children who have moved into the area, please encourage them to contact the school. Sick Students Parents are reminded to please keep your child at home if they are unwell or display cold or flu-like symptoms. If students become unwell during the school day, parents will be contacted to collect them. Your support is greatly appreciated. Student Drop Off and Pick Up Thank you to all families for their consideration and patience during the start and end of the school day. We have tried to alleviate pressure and congestion by having several supervised gates open for students to enter and exit from. This process will continue until we are advised otherwise. Although these processes may have assisted entry and exit of the school, we are unfortunately still receiving concerning comments from our community in regards to reckless and, at times, dangerous driving around our school. Most schools have limited available parking and we rely on parents to be vigilant. When driving around our school, please do so carefully and respectfully to keep our students, our community and their property safe from harm. Please also remind your child/ren to cross the road safely. Students Arriving Late or Leaving Early Thank you to those parents who are following processes by not entering the school grounds. A reminder that if you are dropping your child off to school late or picking them up early, please remain outside the front gate and call the office. Staff will arrange for your child to be signed in/out. Semester One Reports Due to the disruption to learning as a result of COVID-19, student reports will be a modified version of those received previously. Reports will not include grades for learning areas, however teachers will provide an effort ranking and a general comment. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's progress, please contact their teacher. Pupil Free Day - Friday 29th May Parents are reminded that students do not attend school tomorrow, Friday 29th May as it is a school development day with staff engaging in professional learning. As this leads into the WA Day long weekend, students resume on Tuesday 2nd June. Enjoy your long weekend. Shayne Harris - Principal National Reconciliation Week (27th May to 3rd June) - This week commemorates two significant milestones in the Reconciliation journey - the 1967 Referendum and the High Court decision in Mabo. The week is also preceded by National Sorry Day (26th May). Reconciliation Week is a time for us to learn about our shared histories, cultures, achievements and to explore how each of us can contribute to reconciliation in our workplaces, schools and communities. Significantly, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Bridge Walk for Reconciliation, when people came together to walk across the nation to show support for a more reconciled Australia. This year’s theme, In This Together, is now resonating in ways which could not have been foreseen when it was announced last year. It reminds us whether we are in crisis or in reconciliation, we are all in this together. On this journey, we are all in this together and every one of us has a role to play when it comes to reconciliation. In playing our part, we can collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.

New Assembly Format

Important Dates

FRIDAY 29th MAY is a PUPIL FREE DAY. Camp Australia is open for families wishing to utilise this service. MONDAY 1st JUNE - WESTERN AUSTRALIA DAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY

Congratulations to the following students: Evie, Connor, Anisah and Lincoln

Aussie of the Month - Aussie of the Month certificates are awarded to students who demonstrate good citizenship and

display the virtues that the school promotes

Andrew Stewart Medallion Winners - These awards are presented to students in recognition of good behaviour,

demonstration of good work, effort and displaying the school Virtues. Congratulations to Tyler and Nathan (Bronze

Medallion) and Rebekah (Gold Medallion). Well done on this excellent achievement.

As we are unable to run Assemblies in our regular format, this week we ran our first Councillor Assembly via the P.A. Although not in front of an audience, students listened to the assembly from their classes and as awards were announced, teachers presented

students in their class with relevant awards. The Councillors did a wonderful job and the students enjoyed having an assembly, albeit a slightly different one.

Next week our Student Councillors will conduct another assembly where Aussie of the Month Awards will be presented along with our junior school Andrew Stewart Awards.

We look forward to the remainder of the competition.

For you, Connect provides easy access to information relevant to

your child’s classes and learning such as assessments, teacher

feedback and attendance data.

Schools can use Connect to keep you updated with important
