Objectives
The main objective is the comprehensive and consistent modelling of Earth rotation
i.e. integral modelling of all relevant sub-systems of the Earth system a) High-frequency and episodic processes of Earth rotation
b) Decadic and secular variations of Earth rotation
c) Earth rotation as indicator for climatic variations
d) Contribution to an integrated global geodetic observation system (GGOS)

Joint research activity in Germany:
Investigation of Earth rotation and global dynamic processes The overall goal of this research project is the integral and inter-disciplinary treatment of Earth rotation, where the interaction of modelling and data processing, based on existing or new observation data, plays an important role.
Time scales of some hours up to decades and longer will be covered.
