• This means that what they produce must be good for the environment.

• The materials used in the fabric come from natural resources that can be replaced.

When did earth friendly fabrics start to be made?

• The idea began a few years ago as awareness grew about the need to protect our environment.

• In the past, cotton has been planted to produce material for t-shirts and other cloth but toxic chemicals are used to prevent insects & weeds from destroying cotton crops.

• Polyester fabric is made from petrol but it is difficult to get, it needs lots of energy to produce, & there are limited supplies of petrol worldwide.
