The Maori cut down trees to make houses.
They also carved taniwhas with their wooden tools. When they
shot down the birds they used bones for bracelets and used the feathers and put them on dresses.

Most of the people would swim up stream and find white bait off the rocks.
They will find white bait and eels were trapped in the rocks and got eaten.
They would try eat fish eggs on the rocks.

Eel and white bait were trapped and eaten by Maori.
The Cray fish (Koura) have two forms; fresh water and sea water and they can be caught through using bait and traps. In some
places kaimoana cannot be eaten on beaches- It must be taken home and prepared for eating there.

Tools
The Maori used whale bone to make cloak pins and combs.
The Maori used muscle shells for knifes to cut the leaves off flax bushes for weaving.
The Pounamu greenstone was used for adzes, weapons and ornaments and was greatly treasured.
Pounamu could only be got in a few places in the South Island.

They speared the birds with wooden spears that they made.
The Maori also have bamboo and get a dart made out of feathers then hide in the bushes and shoot animals.
