eight people were in attendance and the contribution was $23403 Brother Don Stidham preached the first sermon Of the families
attending that first service five still worship with the congregation ndash
Roy and Ada Hartmann Jo Gowdy Dale and Jackie Cook Wayne and Irma Altman and their sons Ronald and Mark
moved to Summerville on July 1 1968 to begin their ministry with
the new congregation In the beginning Wayne primarily supported his family by teaching in the local school district During the early

I have become a member of the Lordrsquos church by being obedient to the process describedIn Acts 237-42
37 When the people heard this they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles ldquoBrothers what shall we dordquo
38 Peter replied ldquoRepent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far offmdashfor all whom the Lord our God will callrdquo
40 With many other words he warned them and he pleaded with them ldquoSave yourselves from this corrupt generationrdquo 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized and about three thousand were added to their number that day
42 They devoted themselves to the apostlesrsquo teaching and to fellowship to the breaking of bread and to prayer
