Page 12: Early History Of Spacecraft

In total, there were 13 dogs in space.

Shuttle is a spacecraft built by NASA.

Page 22: Early History Of Spacecraft

There are 6 Shuttles: Enterprise, Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavor.

Page 23: Early History Of Spacecraft

Columbia was the 1st space shuttle to be launched into space on April 12th, 1981

Page 24: Early History Of Spacecraft

Christa McAuliffe was supposed to be the 1st civilian in space and leave into space on Challenger, January 28, 1986

Page 25: Early History Of Spacecraft

Challenger exploded due to some technical problems, killing all the members of the crew.

Page 26: Early History Of Spacecraft

Buran was the Soviet spacecraft, similar to Shuttles, but not indentical.

Page 27: Early History Of Spacecraft

Buran made only 1 flight on autopilot. Due to financial problems, it was never launched again.
