FLORIDA CHILD CARE PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIAL (FCCPC) CARING FOR CHILDREN BIRTH TO 3 YEARS OLD—Infant & Toddler Track
The Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) was formerly known as the Florida Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. The FCCPC program is the next step after the entry-level 40-Hour Introductory Child Care Training to continue on your pathway as a child care professional. Students who successfully complete this program and work with children birth to 3 years old in a licensed child care facility or a family child care home will be awarded a staff credential issued by the Florida Department of Children and Families.

Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) Caring for Children Birth to 3 Years Old

Course Description: The Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) program includes 120 hours of infant and toddler specialized coursework, a resource file and professional portfolio, and a two-hour on-site observation in an infant/toddler setting. Upon completion of the program, the student will be awarded the Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC), which is a staff credential from the Florida Department of Children and Families.
The following requirements must be met to be accepted into the FCCPC program:
Apply for admission/readmission to Palm Beach State College.
Students who have not taken a class in over one academic year must reapply for admission to the college.
Program Objective Code: 5390 (Caring for Children Birth to Three Years Old)

40-Hour Introductory Child Care Training Certification OR
30-Hour Family Child Care Training Certification
5-Hour Understanding Developmentally Appropriate Practices
5-Hour Infant & Toddler Appropriate Practices
All DCF Competency Exams must be successfully completed for the requirements listed above.
5-Hour DCF Emergent Literacy course (Exam not required.)
Official high school or GED transcripts submitted to Palm Beach State College registrar’s office
Employed in a licensed child care center or a family child care home with children birth through
5 years old, or at a licensed family child care home with at least 3 children birth thru three years old
(excluding your own). Volunteering is not accepted.
Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE - 11/12 Survey) - $25.00
18 years of age or older
Mastery of the English language
Career Path Notes: Students who earn a Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) at Palm Beach State College and have completed 15 college credits toward the Associate in Science degree in Early Childhood Education (Program Objective Code 2358) at Palm Beach State College, may be eligible to articulate their FCCPC and receive up to 9 college credits towards the A.S. degree upon request. The credits include the following courses: EEC2734, EEC2271 and CHD1220.

Approximate Cost: $35.00 3) CDA National Credentialing Program & CDA Competency Standards (I/T Edition) Approximate Cost: $35.75 4) FCCPC Student Packet Approximate Cost: $11.75 The FCCPC program is divided into three modules (courses) covering the eight content areas for the Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) in which a student must demonstrate competence. Students must meet all admission requirements to be accepted into the program. This is a controlled access program. Student will not be able to register for FCCPC—Module I until they have been accepted to the program. Students must successfully complete each module in succession before continuing to the next module. Students will not be able to register for all three modules at one time.
Students must complete ELO1000; Palm Beach State College eLearning Orientation prior to starting HEV0807—FCCPC Module I. Completion certificate should be emailed to [email protected] along with your student number.

Financial assistance is available for many of the child care courses offered at Palm Beach State College through the SEEK and T.E.A.C.H. scholarships.
SEEK Scholarship – Eligibility requirements:
• Employed at any early childhood program in Palm Beach County that receives public funding (i.e., school readiness, VPK, Head Start) and working directly with children ages 0–5 years
• Active member of the Palm Beach County Early Childhood Registry www.pbcregistry.org • Student MUST be accepted into the program to be able to apply for the scholarship. Contact

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Scholarship – Eligibility requirements:
Child care center teachers, directors, owners and family child care providers may be eligible for a scholarship if they:
• Are Florida residents
• Have a high school diploma from an accredited high school or GED
• Are employed by a licensed or license-exempt child care facility or a licensed or registered family child care home
• Work a minimum of 20 hours per week in a classroom with a birth through pre-K population
• Have the sponsorship of the program which employs them
