Jingle Jangle Tangles Come have some Holiday fun, meet new friends and reacquaint with others. So many new, creative ideas for designs and embellish-ments with templates, stencils, and shapes. JEWELRY MAKING CONTINUED

Relief printmaking is the most ancient form of printmaking and the most accessible. In relief printing, the ink sits on top of the surface of a linoleum block that has been carved. In this process, paper or fabric is pressed against the inked block to transfer the image. Relief printing offers a directness and simplicity that makes it ideal for printmakers of all levels.

*You don’t have to take all of the classes in order, but it is strongly encouraged to attend Class 1 of this series to get a foundation and understanding of the craft before signing up for classes 2-4.

Introductory Block Carving & Printing Class 1This introduction to linoleum block carving and block printing teaches you about the tools and equipment used to carve, and how to carve and print with your first block. We will print postcards for our first project.

Screen Printed Pumpkin SignClass 2 of the Date Night series embraces fall harvest by screen printing a pumpkin sign. Each person gets a small sign to screen print as a team. You’ll chose from a handful of pre-made designs to print together. Class is open to pairs of pals 16 and up. In this class you will learn five basic Shibori stitching techniques which can combine to make an infinite variety of patterns. Your stitched fabric will be dyed in a indigo vat. Intajime ShiboriThe Japanese art of Shibori is a type of resist dyeing where designs and patterns are created in many different ways. Intajime is an umbrella term for a number of clamp-resist dyeing techniques used in Japan. They produce an infinite variety of symmetrical patterns on fabric through folding and clamping. In this class you will learn four different folding techniques and will experiment by clamping and folding with different sizes and shapes of boards. PAINTING & DRAWING

Acrylic Workshop with Mary Guntzviller Everyone says drawing is boring. So let’s spice it up with color and a brush. Mistake? Don’t worry! We’ll be “drawing” with acrylic and brushes so you can cover it and try again. Let’s have fun and be bold. Give yourself permission to play, have time for joy, and use your imagination.Any direction with a brush…up, down, over, and out. Heavy lines, thin lines, dots, dashes! Texture? Turn them into leaves, branches, mountains, ?!Bananas!?............... anything. Learn how to thin the paint so it flows or use it thick so your beautiful brushwork shows.Let’s draw out our scenes with brush & paint first. Maybe a mountain range (I think bananas grow there) with skies and clouds. What about placement and composition? We’ll cover those. Don’t like the configuration on your canvas? Well, you can paint over it, change it, try something else, and fix it up. After we play a while, we’ll hear subject suggestions from you, the students, (Dragonflies? Balls of yarn? Color lessons?) Watercolor Workshop with Mary Guntzviller

This is a fun, no pressure class. Mistakes are required. Wear old clothes. Give yourself permission to try, and painting can provide relief from the stress of everyday life. Indulge yourself!Students will work at their own level with frequent demonstrations. We’ll discuss composition and placement. For the more advanced students, Mary will assess your painting with you as you bring it to completion. Less experienced students will be shown how to start and helpful watercolor techniques. We’ll concentrate on trees/landscape items and also subject suggestions from the students. An expe-rienced instructor, Mary will give individual instruction and encouragement to all. Bring humor.

Soft Pastel ~ Discover the Possibilities with Jane NemecekSoft pastel is one of the most versatile and expressive media in contemporary art, combining the qualities of drawing and painting. Layering and blending the intense undiluted pigments result in vibrant colors that reflect the light and look like velvet. Jane will cover the basic techniques of using pastel and help participants feel comfortable with the materials.This class is open to beginners and intermediates. Participants should have some drawing experience, but no previous pastel experi-ence is required to attend.
