Eagles Wings Children’s Village Newsletter October 2019 As we enter the Thanksgiving holiday season, we have much to praise God and rejoice for. We are so thankful that the final four classrooms and computer laboratory at the high school are now ready for use. This means we now have facilities, materials, and stato send children all the way from the preschool through high school levels. Lord willing, we will have our first Senior 6 graduating class next year! UMEME still hasn’t connected power to the lines they’ve installed at our project, but we are grateful that the infrastructure is in place and any day could bring electricity through hydro transmission to our project. In the mean time, we are grateful for funds to purchase and use generators at the schools and children’s home. We are grateful for the Lord’s provision not only of building additions, but of the funds necessary to feed and care for our children and finances to employ stato operate the project. We are grateful for our supporters that sacrifice and prioritize the needs of children and the advancement of the gospel in Uganda. We are grateful for the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ who reconciled us to God and allows us no longer to walk in futility, but with true purpose. prayers for them and their teachers as they busily prepare. The exams will take place in November, while the official end of the year is the first week of December. We’ve had over 550 students enrolled between the primary and secondary schools this year, which is a new record of children we’ve been able to minister to through education.

Children’s Home - Nothing has changed with the government’s approval of children’s homes in Uganda since our last update. We continue to be available to our probation officer and police station to assist with any cases of abandoned or orphaned children whether it is a temporary or long term assistance. Pray for our government to make decisions in the best interest of its children.

Discipleship Ministry and Church -Dr. Macris and Pastor Allan have been leading the teaching at church and discipleship classes with the Michalski’s away. We have multiple conferences scheduled with churches in the coming year that we’ve met with in the past. We also have some ministries in new locations that are asking us to come and teach. We are grateful to God for open doors to share the Bible and ask for you to pray that we teach it boldly and accurately.

Christmas Gifts Change -In the past, we have given a gift bag of food and treats to each student in our children’s home and students from the community. This year we are planning to only give to families that can best use the gifts as identified by our team of social workers. The gifts will be privately delivered to the family’s home. This change comes for two reasons. The first is that with large increase in enrolment, we don’t have the financial resources to meet the cost. Secondly, parents complained that the gift bags were worth more than what they pay for a child to attend our school and asking why we charge anything if we have the capability of giving such a large amount of gifts. We decided it was best to reduce the gift giving to only the families that need it the most during the Christmas Season. We still need funds for this. If you are interested in giving a gift bag, $20 CAD will purchase a bag of food items that includes rice, flour, sugar, and other items.
