Adam Godwin instructs scout helper, Thomas Cino, in how to paint the Jean Drop Boxes.

The Jean Drop Boxes needed to be noticeable so people would remember to donate their jeans to the FISH Clothing Closet.

After the work detail, Adam Godwin puts the finishing touches on the Jean Drop Boxes and adds the eye-catching signage and instructional flyers.
Jean Drive Work Detail
Scout helpers count out the 5000 Jean Drive Flyers into sets of 25 for delivery to the Williamsburg James City County schools.
Jean Drive Work Detail
The sets of 25 made it easy for the home room teachers to distribute the flyers to all the students.
Jean Drive Work Detail
Twenty-seven Jean Drop Boxes ready to go to the schools.
Jean Drive Work Detail
After only one day, the schools starting calling because the Jean Boxes were overflowing. Adam Godwin starts the process of picking up the jeans that were donated at the Drop Box locations.
Jean Drive Work Detail
By the end of the first week, we had jeans everywhere waiting to be sorted. School administrators were asking for more boxes because of the overwhelming response by the students and their families.
Jean Drive Work Detail
Scout helpers provided the muscle to pick up all the full boxes of jeans. They filled the family van completely many times during the two weeks of the official jean drive.
Jean Drive Work Detail
Adam gave the community at large a chance to donate by having a Jean Drop Box location at the Warhill Car and Tractor Show and Fall Jubilee on October 19, 2013.

Next came the task of inspecting, sorting, and boxing the jeans for delivery to the FISH Clothing Closet.
Jean Drive Work Detail
Jeans of all sizes were donated, from infant to adult. Piles and piles of jeans meant hours of sorting and folding for final delivery to FISH.

Scouts helped sort, fold and count the donated jeans.

1,012 pairs of jeans delivered
to FISHI would like to thank the students and staff in the Williamsburg James City County Public School System and the WJCC community at large for donating to my Jean Drive.
I originally hoped to deliver 500 pairs of jeans but because of the generosity of so many, the final delivery number was more than double my goal.
Thank you to Billie Johnston from FISH and the scouts of BSA Troop 414 in Norge for their support.
