ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATION
1. GENERAL:
A. CONTRACTOR SHALL THOROUGHLY EXAMINE THE PREMISES AND OBSERVE ALL CONDITIONS UNDER
WHICH THE WORK WILL BE PERFORMED. NO ALLOWANCES WILL BE MADE FOR ERRORS OR NEGLIGENCE
IN THIS RESPECT.
B. COORDINATE ALL WORK WITH THE PROJECT SCHEDULE. WORK SHALL BE COORDINATED AND
SCHEDULED IN ADVANCE AND APPROVED BY THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.
C. PROVIDE ALL LABOR, MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT, AND SERVICES NECESSARY FOR THE COMPLETION OF ALL
ELECTRICAL WORK SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS AND HEREIN SPECIFIED.
D. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH OTHER TRADES TO ESTABLISH LIMITS OF RESPONSIBILITY
AND ASSURE THAT ALL WORK AND EQUIPMENT WILL BE PROVIDED WITH THE PROPER SERVICES
CONNECTED AND READY TO USE.
E. ALL ELECTRICAL WORK SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS AS SET FORTH IN THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL
CODE AND APPLICABLE STATE AND LOCAL CODES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN AND PAY FOR ALL
PERMITS AND CERTIFICATES.
F. ALL MATERIALS SHALL BE NEW AND SHALL BE SUITABLE FOR THE CONDITIONS AND DUTIES IMPOSED ON
THEM AFTER INSTALLATION. ALL MATERIALS SPECIFIED HEREIN OR USED SHALL HAVE THE U.L. LABEL.
G. THE CONTRACT DRAWINGS ARE DIAGRAMMATIC AND INDICATE THE GENERAL ARRANGEMENT OF
SYSTEMS AND WORK INCLUDED IN THE CONTRACT. DO NOT SCALE THE DRAWINGS. WHERE APPLICABLE,

MAINTAIN ALL ELECTRICAL SERVICE TO THESE AREAS AS INDICATED, AS REQUIRED, AND AS DIRECTED BY
THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE IN THE FIELD.
2. CODES, REGULATIONS AND PERMITS:
A. PERFORM ALL WORK AND PROVIDE ALL MATERIALS IN ACCORDANCE WITH NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE,
NFPA REGULATIONS AND ALL STATE AND MUNICIPAL ORDINANCES, CODES AND REGULATIONS HAVING
JURISDICTION. PERFORM WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH WMHS STANDARDS.
B. THE ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION SHALL BE INSPECTED AND APPROVED BY THE GOVERNMENT AGENCY
HAVING JURISDICTION. INSPECTIONS SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
3. SHOP DRAWINGS:
A. WITHIN 5 DAYS AFTER AWARD OF THE CONTRACT, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT TO THE ENGINEER A
LIST OF MANUFACTURERS AND SUBCONTRACTORS, AND A PRELIMINARY DELIVERY SCHEDULE OF ALL
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED ON THIS PROJECT.
B. SUBMIT FOR APPROVAL SIX (6) SETS OF SHOP DRAWINGS ON THE FOLLOWING ITEMS OF EQUIPMENT:
WIRING DEVICES, LIGHTING FIXTURES, PANELBOARDS.
C. SUBMIT FOR APPROVAL SIX (6) SETS OF MANUFACTURER'S LISTS WITH CATALOG NUMBERS OR TYPE OF
THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT AND MATERIAL BEFORE THE ITEMS IN QUESTION ARE ORDERED OR
INSTALLED: WIRE, CONDUIT, OUTLET BOXES.
4. PROTECTION OF EXISTING WORK:
A. WHEN WORKING IN AND AROUND THE EXISTING BUILDING, EXTREME CARE SHALL BE EXERCISED WITH
REGARD TO PROTECTION OF EXISTING WORK. CORRECT ALL DAMAGE TO EXISTING WORK TO THE
SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.
5. INTERRUPTION OF EXISTING UTILITIES :
A. THE TIME AND DURATION OF ALL OUTAGES MUST BE SCHEDULED AND APPROVED IN ADVANCE BY THE
OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.
B. THE OWNER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SCHEDULE AN OUTAGE AT ANY PERIOD OF THE DAY OR NIGHT OR
ANY DAY OF THE WEEK, INCLUDING SATURDAYS, SUNDAYS, OR HOLIDAYS.
6. ALTERATIONS AND DEMOLITION:
A. Portions of the existing building WILL be occupied by the Owner during construction, and the electrical systems
associated with these portions of the building shall be kept in operation as much as possible. The duration of outages
shall be kept to a minimum and they shall be scheduled and approved in advance by the Owner. Where necessary,
provide temporary connections as required to maintain service.
B. In areas to be renovated, remove the entire electrical installation except those portions indicated to be reused. All
unused raceways and wiring exposed after demolition shall be removed back to the nearest point of concealment.
Unused wiring shall be removed back to the source of voltage for the unused segment. All electrical equipment
removed under this contract and not reused shall be disposed of as directed by the Owner.
C. Where existing electrical systems pass through renovated areas to serve other portions of the building, they shall be
suitably relocated or modified to avoid conflict with new work. Existing outlet, junction and pull boxes, etc. and
equipment in areas to be renovated and requiring access for service, operation, etc. shall remain "readily accessible" as
required by the NEC.
D. The Contractor shall verify the exact location and rating of all existing system components in the field before starting
any work.
7. EQUIPMENT START-UP AND INITIAL OPERATION :
A. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO PLACE EACH ITEM OF EQUIPMENT INSTALLED BY HIM IN
OPERATING CONDITION, INCLUDING ALL INTERFACE WITH DIVISION 15, AND SPECIALTY SYSTEMS SUCH AS
FIRE ALARM, SECURITY, ETC.
8. CUTTING AND PATCHING:
A. CUTTING AND PATCHING ASSOCIATED WITH BOTH NEW AND EXISTING WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED IN A
NEAT AND WORKMANLIKE MANNER. EXISTING SURFACES WHICH ARE DAMAGED BY THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL BE REPAIRED OR PROVIDED WITH NEW MATERIALS. STRUCTURAL MEMBERS SHALL NOT BE CUT
OR PENETRATED UNLESS APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER.
B. ALL PATCHING SHALL BE DONE WITH MATERIALS AND METHODS SIMILAR TO EXISTING ADJACENT WORK,
SUBJECT TO APPROVAL OF THE OWNER AND DECISION SHALL BE FINAL.
9. ACCESSIBILITY:
A. LOCATE ALL EQUIPMENT WHICH MUST BE SERVICED, OPERATED OR MAINTAINED IN FULLY ACCESSIBLE
POSITIONS. PULL BOXES AND ACCESS COVERS SHALL BE LOCATED IN A FASHION TO ENABLE MAXIMUM
ACCESSIBILITY.
10. RECORD DRAWINGS:
A. CONTRACTOR SHALL KEEP ACCURATE RECORDS OF ALL DEVIATIONS IN WORK AS ACTUALLY INSTALLED
FROM WORK INDICATED. WHEN WORK IS COMPLETE, MAKE ONE (1) COMPLETE "AS-BUILT" SET OF
MARK-UP PRINTS AND DELIVER TO THE ARCHITECT/ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL.
11. IDENTIFICATION:
A. ALL EQUIPMENT SHALL BE MARKED TO CLEARLY INDICATE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER, FUNCTIONS AND
SPACE OR DUTY SERVED. EQUIPMENT SHALL BE IDENTIFIED USING ENGRAVED LAMINATED PHENOLIC
PLATES, LETTERS SHALL BE MINIMUM 3/4" HIGH WHITE ON SURROUNDING BLACK. PLATES SHALL BE
MOUNTED BY MEANS OF SHEET METAL SCREWS.
12. GUARANTEE:
A. THE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL LEAVE THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM INSTALLED UNDER THIS
CONTRACT IN PROPER WORKING ORDER AND SHALL WITHOUT ADDITIONAL CHARGE REPLACE ANY WORK
OR MATERIAL WHICH DEVELOPS DEFECTS RESULTING FROM ORDINARY WEAR AND TEAR WITHIN ONE
YEAR FROM DATE OF FINAL ACCEPTANCE.
13. TESTS:
A. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH ALL EQUIPMENT AND APPLIANCES NECESSARY FOR TESTING THE
COMPLETE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE TESTS SHALL DEMONSTRATE TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE
ENGINEER AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT ALL CIRCUITS ARE FREE FROM UNSPECIFIED GROUNDS AND SHORT CIRCUITS.
2. THAT RESISTANCE TO GROUND OF ALL CIRCUITS IS NOT LESS THAN ONE MEGOHM AT 1000 VOLTS
D.C.
3. THAT ALL CIRCUITS ARE PROPERLY CONNECTED AND ARE OPERABLE.
14. BASIC MATERIALS AND METHODS:
A. JUNCTION, OUTLET, AND PULL BOXES :
1. INSTALL JUNCTION OR PULL BOXES WHEREVER REQUIRED TO FACILITATE WIRE PULLING OR
CONNECTION. FABRICATE BOXES FROM 12-GAUGE MINIMUM GALVANIZED STEEL, AND EQUIP WITH
SCREW COVER. SIZE BOX PER NEC. LABEL ALL CIRCUITS INSIDE EACH BOX AND ON CORNER OF
COVER EXTERIOR WITH ONE-HALF INCH HIGH STENCILED LETTERS.
2. ALL BOXES SHALL BE INSTALLED SO THAT COVERS ARE READILY ACCESSIBLE AFTER COMPLETION
OF THE INSTALLATION. JUNCTION BOXES SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED ABOVE SUSPENDED CEILINGS,
EXCEPT WHERE THE CEILING IS OF THE REMOVABLE TYPE OR IF AN ACCESS PANEL IS PROVIDED
CLOSE TO THE BOX.
3. SHEET METAL BOXES SHALL BE ADEQUATELY SUPPORTED TO MAINTAIN SHAPE. LARGER BOXES
SHALL BE ADEQUATELY FORMED OF STRUCTURAL STEEL BRACING WELDED INTO A RIGID ASSEMBLY
TO MAINTAIN ALIGNMENT IN SHIPMENT AND INSTALLATION.
4. OUTLET BOXES SHALL BE FOUR INCHES SQUARE, MINIMUM 14 GAUGE, AS MANUFACTURED BY STEEL
CITY, RACO, NATIONAL, APPLETON, OR APPROVED EQUIVALENT.
B. GROUNDING:
1. PROVIDE GROUNDING CONDUCTORS FOR ALL FEEDERS AND BRANCH CIRCUITS, IN ACCORDANCE
WITH REQUIREMENTS OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODES, AND AS SHOWN AND REQUIRED. ALL
GROUNDING AND BONDING CONNECTIONS SHALL BE SOLDERLESS. WELDING OF CONDUIT AND
FITTING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED FOR BONDING PURPOSES.
2. THE REQUIRED EQUIPMENT GROUNDING CONDUCTORS AND STRAPS SHALL BE SIZED AS INDICATED
ON THE DRAWINGS, IN COMPLIANCE WITH N.E.C. TABLE 250-122, WITH MINIMUM SIZE NO. 12 AWG. ALL
EQUIPMENT GROUNDING CONDUCTORS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH GREEN INSULATION EQUIVALENT
TO THE INSULATION ON THE ASSOCIATED PHASE CONDUCTORS.
3. PROVIDE PANELBOARD BONDING WITH MINIMUM #10AWG GROUNDING CONDUCTOR, BETWEEN
PANELBOARDS OF DIFFERENT SYSTEMS SERVING THE SAME PATIENT CARE VICINITY, IN
ACCORDANCE WITH NEC 517.14. WHERE BONDING CONDUCTOR IS ROUTED OUTSIDE OF ELECTRICAL
ROOMS, INSTALL IN 3/4” CONDUIT.
C. RACEWAYS:
1. ELECTRICAL METALLIC TUBING (EMT): CONFORMING TO ANSI SPECIFICATION C 80.3, AND U.L. 797.
USE SET SCREW TYPE COUPLINGS.
2. FLEXIBLE METALLIC CONDUIT: STEEL, REDUCED WALL TYPE, CONFORMING TO U.L. 1.
3. LIQUID TIGHT FLEXIBLE METAL CONDUIT (LT/FMC): LT/FMC SHALL BE STEEL, REDUCED WALL TYPE,
CONSTRUCTED OF SINGLE STRIP, FLEXIBLE, CONTINUOUS, INTERLOCKED AND DOUBLE WRAPPED
METAL. LT/FMC SHALL HAVE FLEXIBLE PVC LIQUID TIGHT JACKET.
D. 600 VOLT WIRE AND CABLE:
1. PROVIDE ALL WIRE AND CABLE FOR THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS AS INDICATED ON DRAWINGS AND/OR
SPECIFIED HEREIN.
2. WIRE SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS:
a. ALL CONDUCTORS SHALL BE SINGLE CONDUCTOR ANNEALED COPPER WITH DUAL RATED NEC
TYPE THHN-THWN INSULATION, CONFORMING TO U.L. 83. WIRING SHALL BE RATED 600 VOLTS.
BRANCH CIRCUIT WIRING, NO. 10 AND SMALLER, CONNECTED TO RECEPTACLES, LIGHTING
FIXTURES, AND SWITCHES SHALL BE SOLID CONDUCTOR. ALL WIRING NO. 8 AWG AND LARGER
SHALL BE STRANDED. WIRING SHALL BE AS MANUFACTURED BY CERRO WIRE, ENCORE WIRE,
INDUSTRIAL WIRE AND CABLE CORPORATION, GENERAL CABLE, OR SOUTHWIRE.
b. MINIMUM SIZE OF BRANCH CIRCUIT WIRE IS NO. 12 AWG.
c. CONDUCTORS SHALL BE FACTORY COLOR CODED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE EXISTING BUILDING
COLOR CODES.
d. GREEN COLORED INSULATED EQUIPMENT GROUND CONDUCTORS SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR ALL
FEEDERS, AND FOR ALL BRANCH CIRCUITS.
e. PROVIDE WIRE IDENTIFICATION MARKING ON EACH PHASE, NEUTRAL, AND GROUND WIRE AT
EACH ACCESSIBLE POINT ALONG ITS LENGTH. THE "MARKING" SHALL BE AS DEFINED BY THE
CIRCUIT INFORMATION ON THE DRAWINGS.
3. 600V METAL-CLAD HEALTH CARE FACILITIES (HCF) CABLING SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS:
a. PROVIDE METAL-CLAD CABLE, WITH COPPER CONDUCTORS, INSULATION SHALL NEC TYPE THHN.
METALLIC CABLE ARMOR JACKET SHALL BE ALUMINUM, PAINTED GREEN, WITH #10AWG BARE
ALUMINUM SOLID BONDING CONDUCTOR. CABLE SHALL BE AFC MC-STAT PLUS LITE, SOUTHWIRE
HCF MC-AP OR APPROVED EQUAL.
b. MINIMUM SIZE OF BRANCH CIRCUIT WIRE IS NO. 12 AWG.
c. CONDUCTORS SHALL BE FACTORY COLOR CODED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE EXISTING BUILDING
COLOR CODES.
d. GREEN COLORED INSULATED EQUIPMENT GROUND CONDUCTORS SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR ALL
BRANCH CIRCUITS.
e. PROVIDE WIRE IDENTIFICATION MARKING ON EACH PHASE, NEUTRAL, AND GROUND WIRE AT
EACH ACCESSIBLE POINT ALONG ITS LENGTH. THE "MARKING" SHALL BE AS DEFINED BY THE
CIRCUIT INFORMATION ON THE DRAWINGS.
f. CABLE SHALL INCORPORATE A SEPARATE NEUTRAL CURRENT FOR EACH BRANCH CIRCUIT
CONDUCTOR. NEUTRALS SHALL BE INDIVIDUALLY MARKED ALONG THEIR ENTIRE LENGTH WITH
CORRESPONDING CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION.
g. HCF CABLE SHALL BE TERMINATED USING APPROVED FITTINGS THAT CORRECTLY BOND THE
CABLE JACKET TO BOXES AND CABINETS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NEC AND MANUFACTURER'S
INSTRUCTIONS.
E. WIRING METHODS:
1. INSTALL ALL WIRING IN EMT RACEWAY, MINIMUM SIZE 3/4 INCH UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED OR
NOTED.
2. IN PATIENT CARE AREAS, HEALTH CARE FACILITIES (TYPE HCF) METAL-CLAD SHALL BE PERMITTED TO
BE INSTALLED IN LIEU OF EMT CONDUIT FOR NORMAL POWER BRANCH CIRCUITS RATED 30 AMPERES
OR LESS, CONCEALED IN WALLS OR ABOVE CEILINGS ONLY. HCF SHALL NOT BE UTILIZED FOR
BRANCH CIRCUITS FROM ISOLATED POWER PANELS.
3. MULTIWIRE BRANCH CIRCUITS ARE NOT PERMITTED. WHERE MULTIPLE BRANCH CIRCUITS ARE
INDICATED TO BE ROUTED IN THE SAME RACEWAY OR CABLE ASSEMBLY, PROVIDE A SEPARATE
NEUTRAL CONDUCTOR FOR EACH BRANCH CIRCUIT, CONTINOUS FROM SOURCE TO UTILIZATION
POINT. SHARED NEUTRALS ARE NOT PERMITTED.
4. EACH CONDUIT OR CABLE ASSEMBLY SHALL CONTAIN NOT MORE THAN THREE SINGLE-PHASE
BRANCH CIRCUITS, OR ONE FEEDER OR THREE-PHASE BRANCH CIRCUIT.
5. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, CONCEAL ALL WIRING IN FINISHED SPACES AND ELSEWHERE AS
NECESSARY TO MEET REQUIREMENTS FOR FLUSH OUTLETS. IN UNFINISHED AREAS, ALL WIRING
SHALL BE INSTALLED TIGHT TO STRUCTURE, WITH THE GREATEST POSSIBLE CLEARANCE BELOW
RACEWAYS.
6. MAINTAIN SIX INCH MINIMUM CLEARANCE BETWEEN ALL WIRING AND PARALLELS RUNS OF HOT
WATER PIPES.
7. INSTALL CONDUITS SO AS TO INSURE AGAINST THE COLLECTION OF TRAPPED CONDENSATION,
ARRANGED TO BE FREE FROM TRAPS WHEREVER POSSIBLE. USE SCREW OR PUSH-ON CAPS TO
PREVENT THE LODGEMENT OF FOREIGN PARTICLES IN THE CONDUITS, FITTINGS AND BOXES DURING
CONSTRUCTION.
8. THE GENERAL ARRANGEMENT OF PANELBOARDS AND OTHER EQUIPMENT, AS SHOWN, IS
DIAGRAMMATIC AND APPROXIMATELY CORRECT AS TO LOCATIONS. WHERE MINOR CHANGES ARE
REQUIRED BECAUSE OF STRUCTURAL CONDITIONS OR FOR THE CONVENIENCE OF THE OWNER,
SUCH CHANGES ARE TO BE MADE WITHOUT ADDITIONAL EXPENSE TO THE OWNER. THE
CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCURATE LOCATION OF PANELBOARDS AND SIMILAR
DEVICES, WITH RESPECT TO EQUIPMENT, DOORS, PARTITIONS, CABINETS AND THE FINISHED WORK
OF OTHERS. NO EXTRA WILL BE ALLOWED ON ACCOUNT OF MOVING WORK UNDER THIS SECTION TO
AVOID INTERFERENCE WITH WORK OF OTHER CONTRACTORS OR WORK UNDER OTHER SECTIONS.
9. FOR CONNECTIONS TO MOTORS AND VIBRATING EQUIPMENT, USE FLEXIBLE METALLIC CONDUIT.
10. FOR FINAL CONNECTIONS TO CEILING-MOUNTED LIGHTING FIXTURES, USE METAL CLAD CABLE (HCF
IN PATIENT CARE AREAS), MAXIMUM 6'-0” LENGTH FROM NON-FLEXIBLE RACEWAY BOX TO FIXTURE.
11. FOR CONNECTIONS TO MOTORS AND VIBRATING EQUIPMENT IN EXTERIOR OR WET LOCATIONS, USE
LIQUID TIGHT FLEXIBLE METALLIC CONDUIT.
G. FASTENINGS AND SUPPORTS:
1. PIPE STRAPS AND HANGER RODS SHALL BE FASTENED TO CONCRETE BY MEANS OF INSERTS OR
EXPANSION BOLTS, TO HOLLOW MASONRY BY MEANS OF TOGGLE BOLTS. WOODEN PLUGS AND
SHIELDS SHALL NOT BE USED FOR FASTENING PIPE STRAPS AND HANGERS. IN LIEU OF INSERTS OR
EXPANSION BOLTS, POWER-DRIVEN FASTENERS MAY BE USED TO ATTACH STRAPS AND HANGER
RODS TO CONCRETE. ALL U-BOLTS, CLAMPS, ATTACHMENTS, AND OTHER HARDWARE NECESSARY
FOR HANGER ASSEMBLY, AND FOR SECURING HANGER RODS AND CONDUIT SHALL BE PROVIDED.
2. ALL CONDUITS SHALL BE SECURELY AND INDEPENDENTLY SUPPORTED SO THAT NO STRAIN WILL BE
TRANSMITTED TO OUTLET BOX AND PULL BOX SUPPORTS, ETC. SUPPORT SHALL BE RIGID ENOUGH
TO PREVENT DISTORTION OF CONDUITS DURING WIRE PULLING.
3. INDIVIDUAL HORIZONTAL CONDUITS SHALL BE SUPPORTED BY ONE-HOLD PIPE STRAPS OR SEPARATE
PIPE HANGERS FOR SIZES 1-1/2 INCH AND SMALLER, AND BY SEPARATE PIPE HANGERS FOR LARGER
SIZES. SPRING STEEL FASTENERS SHALL BE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR SUPPORTING SINGLE
CONDUITS. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, WIRE SHALL NOT BE USED AS A MEANS OF SUPPORT.
4. WHERE TWO OR MORE HORIZONTAL CONDUITS RUN PARALLEL AND AT THE SAME ELEVATION, THEY
SHALL BE SUPPORTED ON MULTIPLE (TRAPEZE) PIPE HANGERS. EACH CONDUIT SHALL BE SECURED
TO THE HORIZONTAL HANGER MEMBER BY A U-BOLT, ONE-HOLE STRAP OR OTHER SPECIALLY
DESIGNED AND APPROVED FASTENER.
5. SUPPORTS FOR HORIZONTAL CONDUITS SHALL BE SPACED NOT MORE THAN 8 FEET APART, WITH
NOT LESS THAN TWO SUPPORTS FOR EACH 10-FOOT STRAIGHT LENGTH AND ONE SUPPORT NEAR
EACH ELBOW OR BEND.
H. LIGHTING FIXTURES:
1. ALL LAMPS SHALL BE AS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS. LAMPS SHALL BE AS MANUFACTURED BY
SYLVANIA, GENERAL ELECTRIC OR PHILIPS.
2. FIXTURES SHALL BE AS INDICATED ON THE LIGHTING FIXTURE SCHEDULE.
3. ALL MATERIALS, ACCESSORIES, AND OTHER RELATED FIXTURE PARTS HEREIN MENTIONED SHALL
CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE DRAWINGS, SPECIFICATIONS, AND THE AGENCIES
HERETOFORE MENTIONED. THEY SHALL BE NEW AND FREE FROM DEFECTS WHICH IN ANY MANNER
MAY IMPAIR THEIR CHARACTER, APPEARANCE, STRENGTH, DURABILITY, AND FUNCTION, AND SHALL
BE OF PRIME QUALITY INTENDED FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE PURPOSE, AND EFFECTIVELY PROTECTED
FROM ANY DAMAGE OR INJURY FROM THE TIME OF FABRICATION TO THE TIME OF DELIVERY AND
UNTIL FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE WORK. THE ABOVE ITEMS SHALL MEET WITH THE APPROVAL OF
THE ENGINEER WHO RESERVES THE RIGHT OF REJECTION PRIOR TO OR AFTER INSTALLATION IF
FOUND NOT TO BE IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH THE TRUE INTENT OF THE CONTRACT.
4. ALL FIXTURES SHALL BE COMPLETELY WIRED AT THE FACTORY.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH AND INSTALL ANY NECESSARY EXTRA CHANNELS, SUPPORT
WIRES OR RODS, ETC., TO PROVIDE A STRUCTURALLY-SOUND SYSTEM. FIXTURES SHALL BE
SUPPORTED INDEPENDENTLY OF CEILING GRID. FIXTURES SHALL NOT BE SUSPENDED FROM
DUCTWORK, PIPING, OR APPURTENANCES THERETO.
6. THE FIXTURES SHALL BE MANUFACTURED IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPROPRIATE AND
CURRENT REQUIREMENTS OF THE UNDERWRITER' LABORATORIES, INC.'S "STANDARD FOR SAFETY"
AND OTHERS AS THEY MAY BE APPLICABLE. A. U.L. LISTING SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR EACH FIXTURE

CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE CIRCUIT BREAKERS AND CAPACITY AS INDICATED IN THE DRAWINGS.
2. ALL CIRCUIT BREAKERS SHALL BE OF THE BOLT-ON TYPE. ALL PANELBOARD BUS SHALL BE COPPER.
PROVIDE A 100% NEUTRAL AND 50% GROUND BUS IN EACH PANELBOARD.

7. PROVIDE SYSTEM WIRING TO DEVICES IN METAL-CLAD FPLP PLENUM RATED FIRE ALARM CABLE, RED
ALERT BY SOUTHWIRE OR APPROVED EQUAL. VERIFY CAPACITY OF EXISTING WARNING DEVICE
CIRCUIT SERVING THIS AREA AND EXTEND TO DEVICES OR PROVIDE NEW WARNING CIRCUITS AS

8. COORDINATE SYSTEM OUTAGES WITH THE OWNER. DEMONSTRATE OPERATION OF SYSTEM IN
PRESENCE OF THE OWNER.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH THE SERVICES OF THE OWNER'S EXISTING FIRE ALARM
MAINTENANCE COMPANY TO RE-CERTIFY THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM.
10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH ALL DRAWINGS, CALCULATIONS, DOCUMENTATION, ETC. AS
REQUIRED BY THE LOCAL CODE AUTHORITY AND OBTAIN ALL PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS. LEACH
WALLACE ASSOCIATES DOES NOT FURNISH SEALED/CERTIFIED DRAWINGS FOR THE PURPOSES OF
OBTAINING A FIRE ALARM PERMIT.
