CYS SERVICE SPECIAL OPENING - RESPITE CARE Deployment Respite Care is available for children registered with CYS Services whose parent/sponsor is deployed, on TCS, PCS or TDY (90-179 days) orders or a Service Member of the deployed unit. Sixteen free hours of care is available per month, per child, during the deployment. A copy of the Service Member‘s orders must be provided. The CDC opens twice a month for this service. The normal cost of hourly care is $4 per hour; payment must be made in advance. This service may be utilized by other patrons whose children are registered for hourly care. Reservations are required and may be made up to two weeks in advance. Care is available for children 6 weeks - 5th grade. Due to space limitations, paid reservations may be bumped to make room for deployed Service Member‘s reservations. If this should occur, advance payments will be refunded. There is FREE childcare service two nights per month for any FRG member who would like to utilize the service to attend an FRG meeting. To utilize the service your child must be registered with CYS Services and reservations must be made no later than 12:00 pm the week before the date of the opening. Specialty category is "Nature or Organics". Receive extra points in judging for art work emphasizing on Nature or Organics. Art work will be showcased October 10 at the Piney Valley Golf Course from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Cost to register is $5 per artwork for adults / FREE for children ages 5 & up. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 artists in each age category. Age categories are 18 yrs. & older, children in grades Kindergarten-4th, 5th-8th, and 9th-12th. October 1 – 25 YOUTH BASKETBALL AND CHEERLEADING: REGISTRATION Youth Sports & Fitness is registering for Youth Basketball and Cheerleading. Cheerleading is for children in grades K-6th grade. Basketball is for children in grades K-8th grade. Cost is $40. Practice will begin the week of 4 November 2013 and the games will begin on 7 December 2013.Teams will practice twice a week and will play games once a week. Games are typically on Saturdays. Our league is a recreational league, focusing on teaching the athletes the basic fundamentals of the sport. Families who are active duty, retired, or a DOD civilian may register at Parent Central Services in building 470 room 1126. October 1 – November 7 MINI BASKETBALL CYS Service’s Youth Sports & Fitness is hosting a Mini Basketball program at the School Age Services building October 1 thru November 7 from 5:45 pm – 6:45 pm. Cost is $20 per child, includes t-shirt and medal. Children ages 3 yrs. meet on Tuesdays. Children ages 4-5 meet on Thursdays. No physical is required. A parent meeting will be held October 1 at 5:30 pm at the Pippin Youth Center. All Mini Sports require parent participation. Children must be registered with CYS Services prior to signing up. October 8 & 9 HUNTER’S EDUCATION The Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) in partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation will host a Hunter’s Education class from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Course will allow you to comply with Missouri Hunter Education Law, make students more knowledgeable and safer hunters and is mandatory to hunt with a firearm in the state of Missouri. Students must be at least 11 yrs. old to participate. Pre-registration is required. Class is limited to 45 students per class. October 11 & 12 LORA’S 6th ANNUAL HAUNTED HAYRIDE The Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area is hosting their 6th Annual Haunted Hayride from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Ride around LORA’s grounds with ghosts, goblins, and other scary creatures. This will be your scariest experience by the water. Cost is FREE and open to the public. October 13 CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS CLASS The Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) is hosting Concealed Carry Weapons Class; the first step in acquiring a Missouri CCW endorsement including weapons qualification on the range. Class is 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Cost is $15 to register, $65 day of class. Each student must bring a photo ID, eye and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun and a revolver (plus minimum of 50 round each), and lunch or money for food. All handguns must be in good working condition. If you do not have both types of guns, please notify the OAC at time of pre-registration so that arrangements can be made. Class is open to the public 21 yrs. and older. Interested patrons must be registered the day prior to each class at the Outdoor Adventure Center located in Bldg. 2290 FLW K Road. Additional Dates: November 10 / December 22 2014; January 18 / February 16 / March 29 / April 20 / May 24 / June 15 / July 13 / August 9 / September 7 Individuals bringing a privately owned weapon onto the installation for authorized activities such as hunting, dog training activities or marksmanship events, are required to register weapons. Privately owned weapons can be registered between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Main Gate Visitor Control Center, Building 100. Registration form is available online at www.wood.army.mil/LEC/SOB/Privately%20Owned%20Weapons.html Registrations may take up to one week to process. Additionally, anyone wishing to bring a firearm onto FLW, is required to declare the firearm with proof of registration. Firearms and ammunition must be stored separately, i.e. firearm in the trunk and ammunition in the passenger compartment. October 16 2013 FLW HARDWOOD CLASSIC Come out to Davidson Fitness Center, 6:00 pm to see some great collegiate hardwood action. Basketball game features State Fair Community College, from Sedalia Mo. vs. Columbia College, from Columbia, Mo. October 20 ANNIE GET YOUR GUN The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting an educational class specifically for women. The course will teach women how to handle and fire a gun. From 10:00 am – 3:00 pm participants will learn the different types of guns, what they are used for, how to use them, and how to clean them. The course includes a trip to the range to fire a few different types of guns. Cost is $20 per person, 18yrs and older, and includes lunch and ammo. Registration must be made one week prior to event. Boys and ghouls, ages infants to 5 years, are invited to attend the CYS Services Fall Festival Fun Night from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Pippin Youth Center. The Fall Festival Fun Night will have a variety of activities including bounce house, face painting, games, art activities and much more. Dress up because a costume contest will be the highlight of the night with prizes awarded for the “best dressed.” Event is FREE and open to the public. Each student must bring a photo ID, eye and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun and a revolver (plus minimum of 50 round each), and lunch or money for food. Academic Tutoring in reading, writing, math, test prep, SAT, ACT and GED prep are available for students from 6 – 18 years old.

Martial Arts - Tae Kwon Do meets Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Child Development Center Bldg 614 Replacement Ave. Classes offered are one time a week for $35 per month or two times a week for $65 per month. Sign up for 2 days a week class and you can attend Grand Master Prosser’s Tuesday and Thursday classes in Rolla for FREE! Start-up fee is now $75 (regular price, $159).
