Christmas is not a time nor a season,
but a state of mind.
When you cherish peace and goodwill,
show kindness and compassion,
You embody the meaning of Christmas spirit.
May the Blessings of Peace,

The Spirit of Love and the Comfort of Faith
be your Gift.

We have missed so much. The special fellowship that the Pandemic has kept us from experiencing, above all.
Though we had to forego all of our wonderful events, we are grateful that everyone made every effort to encourage, support and pray for each other. These gestures have really helped us
move through these difficult months.
We look forward, with hope, to a big time “Reunion” whenever it is safe to do so. Until then, may this Christmas be one that fills our hearts with joy as we welcome the Christ child as never before — with hope and thanksgiving for His loving presence that sustains us throughout these trying times.
Please continue to pray for Tina Sais, Debbie Grossman, Carajean Zukowski, Lois Marsh and Joyce Rowan. Christmas Blessings,
Barbara L. Pietracatella
Please continue to pray for our Senior Shut-ins:
Caroline Chiapperino At Sunrise
Marion Olsen At Country Meadows
Everything is still on hold with regard to any 2021 fellowship/fundraising events. But — we will move forward
when it is safely possible.
The Pandemic is still with us, winter is on its way, and we all
continue to keep each other close in spite of every challenge.
Let us rejoice in our Savior’s birth, knowing that everything will be well, because the Babe of Bethlehem is born anew in us and calls us to Live for Him.
Christmas Blessings for the Circle,
Barbara L. Pietracatella

Well this is a first - Virtual
Christmas!! For all the years I
have been attending Church -
and that’s pretty much all of
them since birth, I have been
able to celebrate Christmas
with my Church family as
well as my personal
family. Each year the choir
has worked diligently to prepare and present whatever
program we find. The last couple of years I’ve been able to
spend Christmas Eve at home with my family which was quite
different from the usual time spent traveling back and forth but
it was with some melancholy created by missing our Olivet
family yet nice being able to spend some extra time with family
and friends who always wound up leaving while Larraine & I
(and Suzanne) would come to Olivet.
This year we have different issues to deal with. While
we won’t be able to spend Christmas with our Olivet
family, we will be able to spend it at home with limited
numbers of family/friends. We are working on trying to
present some music for the season but it is a challenge
with the technology behind it. We’ll do our best. Let’s
remember the real ‘reason for the season’ and though I
know this has been a difficult year with losses for some
and challenges for others, may your Christmas be a
blessed one and bring hope for renewal in the coming
months.
~John
Please join us for Worship at
9PM on Christmas Eve.
Be on the look out!
Your annual pledge card should have arrived at your home by now. As
you consider your 2021 commitment to the Life of Olivet’s fellowship and before filling out your Stewardship card, please pray and pray some more allowing quiet time to listen to God’s voice speaking to your heart. Your pledge of Time, Talent and Treasure or donation can be sent by regular mail to Olivet Stewardship or emailed to ([email protected]) between December 6th and December 9th.
Every dollar collected goes directly to support the mission
and ministries of Olivet.
The Mission Committee continues to bring weekly treats to the shelter ladies, and the women truly appreciate it. For Halloween, we brought them some extra special goodies.
It is worth noting, that Olivet’s Women’s Shelter is the only women’s shelter provided by a NYC faith group that has remained open during the pandemic.

Congratulations to great grandmother, Barbara Niler, grandmother, Gail McCormack and parents Jackie
McCaig and Vincent Handelman, Sr. on the birth of their son, Trevor Joseph Handelman, on November 26th (Thanksgiving Day) at 5PM weighing 7lbs. 10oz. and 20 inches long.
Dear Members and Friends of our Church Family,
One holiday just ended and many of us
are looking towards the next holiday -
Christmas. However, liturgically and
importantly, Advent comes in between and
helps us to prepare for Christmas. And each
Sunday of Advent brings us something that I feel that we all need right now: Hope, Love, Joy and
Peace. In addition to joining you on our conference call worship each week, I will spend some time
discussing these symbols with the children at 12:30 pm
on Sundays. Regina's spirituality study will meet on Zoom on Monday, December 7 at 6:45 pm. For
me, this study has been filled with discussions that bring me closer to these symbols.
While we don't know exactly what will be happening yet, we know that Christmas will look different this
year. Maybe our traditional holiday parties and events
have been cancelled. If you find yourself in need of
some Christmas cheer, the outreach committee is planning a few virtual events to
get us in the holiday spirit. Christmas
Karaoke will be
Sunday, December 6 at 4 pm.
A Children's Christmas movie night
will be Sunday, December 13 at 4 pm. We will also be hosting a movie
night for everyone on Saturday, December 19 at 7 pm. It is not too late
to learn how to get on Zoom, so if you need a tutorial, please email me
at [email protected]. I'd be happy to set some time aside so we can figure out which way to "Zoom"
works best for you!
We are also hoping to make a video collage of Christmas
greetings filled with members and friends. We are asking if you could record yourself
(landscape orientation) for 10-15 seconds to share your Christmas
greeting and to send the clip
We plan to finalize the video by
December 20 so we can post it on Facebook on Christmas Eve. If you have any questions
or need help, please email us and we could arrange a socially distanced visit or a time on Zoom where we can
record your greetings virtually. We hope you will try to be a part of this special video!
As we come to the close of 2020 and start to reflect on this year, I am truly grateful to everyone who worked
hard to make our church life possible. We kept up with our worship services, our Christian Education, our
mission, our events, and so much more! We really were the "Church" while our church has been closed. And
although we might have to continue our virtual
aspects for a time in 2021, I know that we will get through it, because we have already done it thus
far!
Wishing you a season of hope and love,
Grace
