Gifts are shared on birthdays. Even those who think they’re too old and say they don’t want any gifts, they still enjoy receiving a gift whether it is in the form a present, kind wishes, prayers, a birthday card or flowers. Today’s celebration of Pentecost is often seen as the birthday of the Church, when the Holy Spirit empowers the disciples and they burst forth into the world proclaiming the Gospel. The great variety of gifts poured upon us by the Holy Spirit, enumerated in today’s second reading, are still with us today. Each one of us are called to live our faith prophetically in the midst of the world, not passively. We must share our gifts with all to build up the Body of Christ, not hide them away in a closet. By living prophetically we can radically transform our lives, our Church, our communities, our nation and our world. Like honking geese in the barnyard we must wake up and disturb others so they can be more attentive to what the message of the Gospel. So, “Happy Birthday, prophetic People of God!” We are a gifted people. Use your gifts. ~Fr. Edwin

Debemos compartir nuestros dones con todos para construir el Cuerpo de Cristo, no esconderlos en un armario. Al vivir proféticamente podemos transformar radicalmente nuestras vidas, nuestra Iglesia, nuestras comunidades, nuestra nación y nuestro mundo. Al igual que el graznido del gansos, debemos despertar y alterar a los demás para que puedan estar más atentos al mensaje del Evangelio. Entonces, "¡Feliz cumpleaños, pueblo profético de Dios!" Somos un pueblo dotado. Usa tus dones.
