Editor’s Note

I aspire to state that Tadepalligudem town is a Selection grade municipality

with a population 1, 03,906 that spread around an area of 20.71 sq.km.

Specifically the town is famous for its rice cultivation and jaggery market,

Tadepalligudem has one of the largest numbers of rice mills in the district.

E – Newsletter furnishes the detailed overview of activities taken up by the

municipality in the month of June 2017. Special initiatives discussed in this

month mainly focus on the Nava Nirmana Deeksha, Construction of Drains

and Roads, Poster Free and other activities taken up in the Tadepalligudem

Municipality.

De siltation of Drains:

De siltation of all major drains was done at different wards of the municipality ensuring free flow of

wastewater. As the stagnant water that has accumulated for a long time will emit a musty odour.

Moreover, stagnant water attracts mosquitoes, pests and other insects that may carry germs and

diseases. It will also make the area prone to bacteria, mould and mildew.

Nava Nirmana Deeksha

Nava Nirmana Deeksha a week long program (2nd June to 8th June) was organised to create

awareness and to discuss with the public on various topics such as Budget, Development, agriculture

and allied sectors, Neeru Pragati, NREGS horticulture, Micro irrigation, Social welfare, real time

governance etc. Designated officials participated on each day and interacted with the public and on

the final day Maha Sankalpam (pledge) was conducted at kapu kalyana mandapam, Hon’ble Minister

Pydikondala Manikyalarao, Chairperson, Commissioner, MRO, DPO, other officials and elected

representatives participated.

World Environment Day:

On the occasion of the world environment Day i.e 5th June 2017 a campaign on Poster free City was

conducted in Tadepalligudem, Starting from the Municipal office till the M.R.O Office. Municipal

Chairperson, Commissioner other municipal staff and general public participated in the drive and

removed posters at different areas.

Removal of Encroachments:

Due to the non response of shop owners who have received several notices from the municipality to

remove the encroachments made on roads and Open Drains, Municipality took action by removing

the encroachments made in front of the shops.

QCI –Revisit for ODF Certification

A team from Quality Council of India (QCI) visited Tadepalligudem Municipality on 22nd June 2017 for

the field inspection (ODF re certification). QCI team along with the municipal staff visited two Slums,

Residential areas, schools, public Toilets and interacted with the public and collected pictorial

evidences.

Distribution of Dust bins

Tadepalligudem municipality distributed solid waste

disposal bins to few commercial shops and informed

them to maintain the shop surroundings clean by

using the dust bins for disposal of solid waste

generated. Municipal Chairperson in the presence of

Commissioner, Councillors and other Municipal staff

distributed the bins.

NTR Nagar- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) - Housing for ALL

PMAY-NTR Nagar Scheme has been announced by the government of Andhra Pradesh to provid e

affordable houses to urban poor under the center’s flagship housing scheme Pradhan Mantri Awas

Yojana. “Housing for All” Mission for urban area will be implemented during 2015-2022 and this

Mission will provide central assistance to implementing agencies through States and UTs for providing

houses to all eligible families/beneficiaries by 2022.

An Inauguration ceremony of PMAY was held at Kondruprolu village, Hon’ble Minister Sri Pydikondala

Manikyala Rao garu attended as chief guest and performed Bhoomi puja along with Municipal

Chairperson, Councillors, Municipal Commissioner and other Staff, later a meeting was conducted at

Municipal office. There are total 5000 + applications received from the beneficiaries to avail the

scheme and the verification of beneficiaries is in progress. The construction contract is given to Larsen

& Toubro (L&T).

AMRUT – 2015-16 Works Inauguration

Hon’ble Minister Sri Pydikondala Manikyala Rao attended as chief guest and performed Bhoomi

puja for AMRUT 2015-16 (Water Supply works) ELSR of capacity 1000KL at Kadakatla. Municipal

Chairperson, Commissioner, Councillors, other Municipal staff and contractor attended the program.

Construction of CC Drains and Roads

Under 14th Finance commission and SCSP grants construction of CC drains and Roads are in progress

at ward no’s. 2,28,30,31, 32 33 .CC roads: From Bolla Rama Krishna House junction to Kothi bomma

centre, Kondaiah Tank to 2nd ROB, 1st cross raod , Bapuji Nagar.
