    Practice 1:

    My answer:

    1. ( Simple inference )Hitler's message in source A is to show that the Treaty of Versailles is a failure and theGermans were so unhappy with the treaty that they considered war as an option toretaliate.

This can be seen in source A where TOV is useless......We want to go to war. This showsthat the german public wanted to resort to war as they felt that the TOV made them losenational pride and interests. Thus, the germans were displeased and felt that the TOV was a failure and escalating tothe desire of war. However, Source A has a hidden message. This was written in a book by Hitler, and hemay have wanted to gather support from the public to strengthen his rule over Gemany. Thus, he wanted to influence the public to pressurize the government to start a war tochange the policy of the TOV for the better.

    2. (Comparison 2 sided)Source B is similar to Source C in showing both tells that Germany had to go to war withRussia. This can be seen in source B where Destiny points us against Russia. This shows that Germany had to invade Russia for the need of land to feed the people andhouse the increasing german population. Thus, in order to obtain more, German had to goto war with Russia in a bid to take over the lands as it involves their survival and economic

    growth.

This can also be seen in source C where Menace of Russia hangs overGermany....rescue our nation from this international snake. This shows that Germany had to invade Russia in a form of retaliation for protecting theirnational pride and defense. They describe Russia as an international snake and thus, hadto go to war with Russia so as to defend themselves against such dangerous enemy.

However, Source B is different to Source C in that the reasons for going to war withRussia.Source B says that Germany had to go to war due to the lack of land. This can be seen insource B where it claims Get large space to feed and house the growing population inGermany. This shows that Germany had to invade Russia for the need of land to feed the people andhouse the increasing german population. Thus, in order to obtain more, German had to goto war with Russia in a bid to take over the lands as it involves their survival and economicgrowth and this was the main reason for war to ensure that there is sufficient space forGermans. However, Source C says that Germany had to go to war in protecting themselves fromRussia. This can also be seen in source C where Menace of Russia hangs over Germany....rescue our nation from this international snake. This shows that Germany had to invade Russia in a form of retaliation for protecting theirnational pride and defense. They describe Russia as an international snake and thus, hadto go to war with Russia so as to defend themselves against such dangerous enemy and

this was the main reason for war- to protect themselves.

    My answer:

    3. (Simple Inference)The message of this source is to convince the British Public that Hitler had an ambition torule the whole Europe.

This can be seen in the source where Hitler is seen hugging the whole globe and states Germany will never be encircledThis shows that Hitler wanted to take over Europe and gain power, while making sure thatGermany will never be surrounded and trapped by enemies. Thus, there will be continuousfighting going on due to the war between Germany and other countries thereby, causingunrest and no peace is ensured. Thus, he has an ambition to conquer whole of Europe, including Britain. However, this source has a hidden message. This is drawn by a British cartoonist duringHitler's rule so that to convince the public that Hitler actions are illegal and to pressurisethe Britain government to do something to stop Hitler in usurping lands that do not belongto them. Thus, this will stop Hitler in his ambition to take over Europe, and prevent hiscountry from being attacked.

My answer:1a.I can tell from source A that Nazi policies for women are very discriminately and was afailure. This can be seen in source A where forced professional women....to give up their jobs andproduce children.... However, after 6 years of Nazi rule, there were more women in workthan in 1933.

This shows The Nazi government wanted German women to be babies productionmachine and coerced them to give up their well-paid jobs to prduce babies. However, thispolicies was pointing towards the women, but not men and thus, being bias anddiscriminate towards the german women at work. However, even after the policy wasimplemented, there were more german women working than before. Thus, this shows thatwomen were not interested in this policy and it was a failure.

1b.Source B is useful as evidence to show that Nazi families policies during the 1930s werevery effective. This can be seen in source B where Nazi government representative introducing FrauMeulier success in giving birth to many children, up to 12.This shows that the Nazi families policies of requesting women workers to give up jobs toproduce children was indeed a success shown by a very good example of Frau Meulier. Many babies were born as a result of this policy, and thus Source B is useful as evidenceto show that Nazi families policies during the 1930s were very effective.

Source B is useful as it is reliable and supported by information in Source C where it alsoshows that the Nazi families policies during the 1930s were very effective. This can be seen in source C where our daughter growing up in getting a man....son,even the youngest. This proves that there were indeed many germans parent having to worry about the futureof their sons and daughter. This shows that there were many children produced as a resultof the policy as many parents had many different problems with many different child, from

the eldest to the youngest. Thus, Source C is useful as evidence to show that Nazi familiespolicies during the 1930s were very effective.

Although Source B is useful as evidence to show that Nazi families policies during the1930s were very effective, Source B is also not useful as it is not reliable and iscontradicted by Source A which states that Nazi families policies during the 1930s werenot effective. This can be seen in source A where However, after 6 years of Nazi rule, there were morewomen in work than in 1933.This shows that however even after the policy was implemented, there were more germanwomen working than before. Thus, However, even after the policy was implemented, therewere more german women working than before. Thus, this shows that women were not

interested in this policy and it was a failure and shows that the policy was a failure/not asuccess as there were little children produced as a result of the hectic life at work.

1c.Source C and D are similar in showing that the Nazi Family policies were not working, andless children are produced. This can be seen in Source C where daughter growing up in a vague hope of getting aman. This shows that many women in Germany were less likely to get married and therefore, there will be less babies in Germany. This highlights the fact that the policies were notworking as it should be.This is also seen and supported in Source D which is an advertisement for a women by adoctor...She should be undemanding, thrifty...etc.This also shows that many men had set high standards of their future wife and thus, unable to marry many women who have not met the requirement. This emphasized thatthere were many singles left in germany, and the Nazi family policies were not working to

produce more children. However, Source C and D are different in showing the main cause of the failure of the Nazifamily policies.Source C states that the German women were the reason why the policies failed. This can be seen in Source C where daughter growing up in a vague hope of getting aman. This shows that many women in Germany were the ones who were posing problemsand unable to get married. Thus, the women were the ones who caused the Nazi family

policies to not workOn the other hand, Source D states that German men were the reason why the policiesfailed. This can be seen in Soure C where advertisement for a women by a doctor...Sheshould be undemanding, thrifty...etc.This also shows that many men had set highstandards of their future wife and thus, unable to marry many women who have not metthe requirement. Thus, the men were the ones who caused the polices to not work.

My answer:1a.The photo was published to portray Stalin to be a very respectful, loyal men. This can be seen in Source A where it depicts a photo of Stalin being the head mourner inLenin's funeral. This shows that Stalin was even devoted man to Lenin despite his demise. During Leninfuneral, Stalin volunteered to be the head mourner so as to put himself in a positive light.

Thus, this will portrayed him as a loyal and respectful ruler of Russia.Source A, however, has a hidden message behind it. This photo was published toconvince the Russian public that Stalin will be a good ruler and will take care of themduring his rule. He wanted to garner support from the Germans so as to consolidate hisrule as he is a loving leader who loves his people.

1c.Source D and E are different as evidence in showing that Trotsky was dealt withdifferently .Source D states that Trotsky was dealt with by not revealing lenin will, which will be a hugeaid for him in his bid to lead the communist party. Instead, it will be a great help to Stalin tobecome the new leader of Russia. This can be seen in Source D where will not published....suspicions by Lenin of Stalinproved baseless. This shows that Trotsky did not have the advantage over any of the competiting membersas the will, and the positive comments were not revealed. Thus, he was unable to get theextra support from the party members to elect him as the next leader. As a result, he wasdealt with by the commitee agreement to not disclose the will content. However, Source E states that Trotsky was dealt with by the replacement of his position inthe communist party. This can be seen in source E where Trotsky's power was formindable....removing himfrom the post of the head of the army and replaced by the head of the electrical power inUSSR.This shows that Stalin suggested moving Trotsky from a favourable position to a lesspowerful position in the party. As a result, there was a chance to topple trotsky by moving

him into a new post and then slowly removing the trust he accumulated with the Rad Army.Without the read army support, Trotsky will lose a large pool of support, which mostlycame from the red army and their connections. Thus, Trotsky was dealt with by thereplacement of posts.

However, Source D and E are similar in both showing that Trotsky was dealt with andlosing his bid in contesting for Lenin's successor. This can be seen in source D where not to lose his support for the struggle againsttrotsky. This can also be seen in source E where removing him from the post of the head of thearmy and replaced by the head of the electrical power in USSR.This shows that other members of the part were plotting against the favourite successor

and. Thus, both shows that Trotsky was dealt with and thus, his chances are getting lessfavourable.
