Multi-constellation
• Galileo is expected to be the only GNSS providing an authentication in the Open Service, together with data encryption solutions enhancing GNSS reliability and detecting signal spoofing attacks or other intentional interferences
Liability and Security robustness
•The strength of Galileo signal and the advanced code modulations, showed that
the effect of multipath is 2 times smaller with Galileo E1 compared to GPS L1
signal.
Multipath Resistant
• Using the data-less signal with a 100ms length for the secondary code, Galileo permits improved performances in urban canyon/tree canopies, better performances in noise measurements and improved sensitivity in A-GNSS mode

Galileo contribution to Multi-
constellation & Multi-frequency Multi-constellation: When buildings block the
signal and reduce the number of visible satellites,
the availability of more constellations ensures a
much more accurate final position
 Multi-frequency increases robustness of the
position against mass market jammers because
the interfering signal has a narrow bandwidth
and the receiver can still calculate a correct
position with the other GNSS signals. More so, it
increases resistance to multipath and accuracy.
Multipath: the strength of Galileo signal, together
with an advanced code modulations, makes
Galileo better mitigating multipath effects
(especially in E5, but also E1: two times better than
GPS L1*)

Potential increase of efficiency and savings both in upstream and downstream supply
chain due to better stock in transit visibility and precise determination of its arrival
time, which is in particular important for Just-in-time or Just-in-sequence deliveries
GNSS can support better capacity and service demand planning for logistics
centers especially by increasing accuracy of transport related information such as
accurate time of arrival or delay alerts

- Combination of the goods position,
geographical references and business step
(knowledge where the goods should be
according to the documentation) improves
situational awarenes of the trading
partners and protects the goods from
shrinkage
- In case the monitored cargo leaves (or
enters) the virtual perimeters set by trading
partner, an alert is automatically generated.

SCUTUM demonstrated
that EGNOS adds value to
GPS alone thanks to a
better accuracy and
guaranteed positioning,
resulting in higher
confidence in the data.
SCUTUM carried out the elaboration of the CEN7
Workshop Agreement CWA 16390, which is the CEN
technical specification for the provision of tracking &
tracing services based on the use of EGNOS for the
transport of goods. In 2017, Galileo, with its unique
OS Authentication feature has been also included in
frame of the CWA16390 revision.

1. Continue reaching out to member states and industry
through collaboration with associations, demonstration of
E-GNSS added value and through dedicated support in
H2020
2. Support activities leading to recognition of E-GNSS in
multimodal transport (such as the CWA 16390 update)
3. Focus on concrete subsegments with more stringent
positioning requirements (such as monitoring of dangerous
goods) or with potential to utilize the unique features of
Galileo (such as OS Authentication)
