breezes rise through the shady purple canyons as we head out through this bright wilderness. We’re traveling down the trail through the Old Testament stories of Moses to discover God’s ultimate plan of salvation in Jesus because “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). So come on! Rustle up your kids and head on over to SonWest Roundup 2013 VBS at Euless First UMC for a rip-roarin’ good time!
gets a free 8 x 10 picture and a free directory. In exchange, Lifetouch has the opportunity to sell packages of pictures in a non threatening no-pressure environment. We need everyone to get a current picture made. 4- Why aren't we going digital and having an on-line pictorial directory? A: We are actually doing both. There will be a traditional print spiral bound version, and there will be an online version as well. 5- What if I can't make the July 16-20th dates? Why are we doing this in a vacation month? A: As soon as we fill up these slots, we will receive some additional dates for picture taking in early August. A: Summer time is a better time historically as family schedules aren't as tight and students are home from college. 6- When will we get the directory? A: Distribution is slated for November 30, 2013.
7- Where will pictures we taken? A: Pictures will be taken in the Swor Parlor---right inside the double glass doors. 8- How long will it take to get the pictures back? A: Pictures will be mailed to you 4-6 weeks after they are taken. 9- Do I have to be a church member to be in the directory? A: No---Our long term guests are treated like family and are welcome to be in the directory. With that said, as your hospitality chair, we encourage our long term guests to officially join our flock. There are advantages to being members and making that commitment to your church is encouraged. 10- If I need to change my picture time, what do I do? A. Contact Dave Lewis at [email protected] or call him at 817-915-6742.
Children ages 3 (by Sept. 1, 2012) thru the 5th grade are invited to join us June 24th – 28th, 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Student and volunteer registration is available online till June 21st at www.fumceuless.org!

Have you heard? Euless First UMC is gearing up for a new pictorial directory. Here are the Pictorial Directory Top 10 questions! 1- Why do a church pictorial directory? A: It is a wonderful way to get to know names of others and form a wonderful Euless First Family Picture Album. 2- Why now---we just did one! A:We did one in Summer, 2010. We have seen explosive growth in the last few years. Those newer members are still learning names, and older members are still learning names of the new members. So far in 2013, 38 new members have joined. The directory creates a wonderful "belonging" feeling for all. 3- Can I use my picture from the last directory and not have a picture taken? A:No--The model of LifeTouch, our vendor, is that everyone

Euless First is blessed with a congregation that cares not just for the community we have, but also for the building and grounds that we worship and minister in and from. Everyone is critical in ministering and sharing the love of Christ. Here are just a few of the projects that have recently been cared for.

PAGE 4 CHURCH MATTERS
PAGE 5 VOLUME 2, ISSUE 12
FROM THE PASTOR One of my great joys at Annual Conference this week has been to meet and be taught by the Rev. Dr. Kenda Creasy Dean.
She teaches at Princeton Seminary and is a United Methodist Pastor. She, like me, was called into ministry as a youth. She teaches Youth Ministry, Church and Culture.
While I could fill this entire newsletter with things she taught at Conference, I want to share
simply this one point. In a variety of studies done over the last 30 years, there is one predictor of youth growing into faithful adult disciples that stands tall above all the others.
The best single predictor of whether or not a young person will follow Jesus as an adult is the faith-life of the parents.
Read that last sentence again before moving on.
Here is the really good news that
Dr. Dean added to that fact: we can, as a congregation, help fill the place of those adults for children whose parents are not active.
We all have the opportunity to help others grow up to be faithful Christians. Doing so can be as simple as being active in the life of the Church.
I hope to see you Sunday. Your being in church could change someone's life!
With them in our presence, we will never be the same.

October is closer than you think! We are preparing for our October of Opportunities, specifically the Lord’s Acre on October 26.
There will be a crafting event on
Sunday, June 23 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center Café.
No skills are needed; all supplies will be provided, but your presence will help greatly toward
reaching our goals and for serving our congregation and beyond.
LORD’S ACRE CRAFTS
Angel News:
Euless FUMC Preschool and Kindergarten just completed 2 weeks of summer camp. The first week the children could be heard practicing their pirate talk - ARRRGH! Ahoy Mates! Shiver Me Timbers. They played games
like "Sink the Pirate Ship" and "Walk the Plank!" This week they learned the layers of the Rainforest, made headband animals each day, and sang songs to go with each of the animals.
We are now closed for the summer, but are still enrolling. If
you know someone who is interested, please have them call and leave a message on our answering machine - 817-283-0129 or email us at [email protected]. We will be checking messages frequently.

So come join us on this new fun adventure. We will not only be quilting but working on other projects. Hope to see you there for an evening of fun and fellowship. If you plan on coming, please let Sandy Swann
know. We will make sure we have enough for all to do. 972-257-1149 or [email protected]. Also, if you need a ride, let her know.
