The Lansing Assembly
Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus
1531 E. Michigan Ave.
Lansing, MI. 48912-2299
Worthy Sir Knights and Ladies:
By the time you read this, Memorial Day will have come and gone. Of course
this day is a day of reflection to remember those who have made the ultimate
sacrifice for our Country. As 4th degree Knights we especially honor those
who were Catholic Americans.
Catholic patriots have not only lived and died but continue to live as patriots
for our country on a daily basis. All of us, in every vocation, should be living
a life of Catholic American Patriotism, achieving the best that we can in all of
our professions. By doing this, we will set an example as Catholics, living the
Gospel, as Christ taught us to do. By doing this we will bring attention to the
great principals for which we stand as Americans: Freedom of Life; Liberty;
and the Pursuit of Happiness.
Our Church needs our help now more than ever. As we have seen in the last
few months, our Church and religious freedom for all has been attacked by
our government to the point where many in our faith have had to bring legal
action against our government.
I for one am more proud than I think I have ever been to be Catholic. Our
Church has taken a leadership role for all faiths. I firmly resolve to defend
my Church and my Country in any way that I can. I plan to let as many people
know that my Catholic faith is the driving force in my life and that I submit to
only one master….Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I plan to educate myself and
be as charitable as I can be. I plan to complete my responsibility by voting for
those people and proposals that will most benefit the Church despite my polit-
ical party preference.
May God bless you and keep you in his care in
this a pivotal year for religious freedom and
may God Bless America!
Fraternally,
Gaylend Meeks - FN - Assembly #3334

All whom have asked for our prayers
on their journeys.
Let us continue to pray for our Country and all of those
who work to make this a better place to live, recalling
especially as the value and sanctity of life are continu-
ously under assault by secularism and apathy.
John F. Kennedy (Inaugural Address, Jan. 20, 1961): "The rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God."
Prayer for the Sick
Dear Jesus, Divine Physician and Healer of the sick, we turn to
you in this time of illness. O Dearest
Comforter of the troubled, alleviate our worry and
sorrow with your gentle love, and grant us the grace and strength
to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our worries in your
hands. We place our sick under your care and humbly ask that
you restore your servant to health again. Above all, grant us the
grace to acknowledge your will and know that whatever you do,
you do for the love of us. Watch, O Lord, with those who wake,
or watch, or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over
those who sleep. Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest your weary ones. Bless your dying ones. Soothe your suf-
fering ones. Pity your afflicted ones. Shield your joyous ones. And for all your love's sake. Amen.

A Few Comments from the Editor The promise of rain did not hold the Knights back, and 78 Color Guard from across the state responded to the callout for the
Second Annual Living Rosary on the grounds of the State Capitol. Our presence was recognized and had a profound impact. There is an account of one woman whom had not prayed the rosary for 17 years. Because of the Living Rosary, she picked up a
rosary and started praying again. The impact even on a single soul makes all the effort worth it. Do all for God’s glory!

Reflections
From our Worthy Faithful Friar—Fr. George Daisy
Dear Brother Knights,
I can’t believe it is summer already for it seems only yesterday that the buds were
forming upon the trees. Regardless of how quickly time seems to pass summer’s arrival of-
fers us the opportunity to do different types of activities. Like taking a stroll and delighting in
the beauty and splendor of creation while pausing to give thanks to God for all of his good
gifts.
Beyond this it is my hope that each of you will have the opportunity to take a summer
vacation. So you can get a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of your regular routine to rest
and recharge your batteries. So you have the opportunity to spend extra time with family and
friends you cherish.
In closing I hope these summer months bring many graces and blessings to each of you
and your families. Know that as always I remember each of you and your families in my dai-
ly prayers.
God’s Peace,
Fr. George Daisy
