E CONTENT ANALYSIS

TERM :Diprotic acid,dehydration,hygroscopic,deliquescence

FACTS :Sulphuric acid is one of the most widely used acid

Sulphuric acid was first prepared during middle ages.

Sulphuric acid contains 98% acid and 2% water. It mainly consist of H2SO4 and very few ions.

Sulphuric acid has many industrial uses

Most of the chemicals manufactured in indusry are used for the manufacture of other useful product

Page 3: E- content

Sulphuric acid is prepared by the process called contact process

CONCEPTS :The ability of an acid to leave two proton or tho hydrogen ion is

known as diprotic acid.

The ability of a substance to absorb water from the air is known

as hygroscopic nature. The hygroscopic thayt readily dissolve in

water they absorb is called deliquescence.

Page 4: E- content

The removal of water from a subtance is known as dehydration .

Sulphuric acid is a dehydrating agent.

SUMMARY

Sulphuric acid is a highly corrosive stong mineral acid with the molecular formula H2SO4.It is colourless to slightly yellow viscous liquid which is soluble in water at all concentration.Sulphuric acid is a diprotic acid and show different properties depending upon its concentration.Sulphuric acid has a wide range of applications, including domestic acidic drain cleaner ,electrolyte in lead acid batteries and various cleaning agent .It is also a central substance in the chemical industry.Principal uses include,

mineral processing, fertilizermanufacturing, oil refining, watste water processing ,and chemical synthesis. It is widely produced with differnt methods, such as contact process, wet sulphuric acid process and some other methods.
