Webinar on Wonders of the Sky

The Department of Physics organised a Webinar on Wonders of the Sky on 22 July 2021.

Prof. Ramesh Bhat, the resource person while addressing the participants said, ‘the sky is the appearance

of the atmosphere around the surface of the planet from our point of view. We see many objects that are

actually in space such as the Sun, the Moon, and stars because they are in the sky. Depending on the

time of day, the sky may appear in different colours. At dawn or dusk the sky may appear red, orange, or

even green and purple depending on how low the sun is and how close it is to night. He explained all

these phenomena scientifically and answered the queries by the students. The programme was witnessed

by 228 participants including students and faculty members. Ms.Namratha welcomed the gathering.

Ms.Apeksha introduced the resource person to the audience and Ms.Rashmi proposed vote of thanks.

Training on Know Your Learning Management System

The Department of Chemistry organized a virtual training programme on “Know Your Learning Management

System” on 22 July 2021. The resource person Mr. Satheeshchandra.P.D, Assistant Professor, Department of

Computer Science, SDM College(Autonomous), Ujire explained various features of in-house developed e-

governance soft ware system Education Enterprise Resource Planning and Management System

(EERPMS)of the college to the students. He trained the students on usage of G Suite tools such as Google

Classroom, Google docs, Google slides, Google forms etc for learning, documentation and presentation

purposes. About 79 students were benefitted by the programme.

Career Guidance programme

Department of Statistics organized a Career Guidance programme for all B.Sc. students on 22 July 2021

at 3 p.m. through Google meet platform. Dr.Savitha Rao, Senior Faculty of the Department welcomed the

Poster Making Competition

Department of PG Studies and Research in Commerce under M. Com Student’s Association ‘Master’s

Passion’ conducted National level Poster Making Competition on ‘Sectorial Crisis in India due to Covid 19

Pandemic – A way Ahead’ for final year B. Com students from 12 July 2021 to 15 July 2021. There were 65

teams participated in the first round and finally 9 teams were selected for the second round. The first prize

Virtual Press day Celebration and Webinar on Development Journalism

The Post Graduate Department of Mass Communication and Journalism conducted a virtual Press day

Celebration and Webinar on Development Journalism program for the UG and PG students of the

journalism and mass communication department on 1 July 2021 through the Cisco WebEx online platform.

Speaking as a Resources person Mr. Ishwar Daitota, senior journalist said development has no limitation so

as a development journalist we should always have a keen eye and open ear on each and every aspect.

He recommended the student to visit places at least once a month without posturing himself as a journalist,

just go to a village and try to be a part of that village then only you are able to understand the problem

and collect all the information. This helps to go with the ground see level in development journalism.

PG Department of Mass Communication and Journalism organized special

lecture session on ‘Communication Skills: New Dimensions’ for Elective and

MCJ students through Google Meet on 14 July 2021. Dr Vinutha H M, Soft-

Skills Professional, Trivandrum, Kerala, delivered special lecture on the topic

and stressed the importance of new framework of soft skills to grab

professional opportunities in different sectors including government and

non-governmental organizations. Highlighting the theoretical notions of

communication, she has portrayed the significance of language and its

cultural exclusiveness. Cultural diversity is the prime treasure trove of various

communication frames, she opined. Dr Bhaskara Hegade, HOD, presided

over the special lecture session and delineated initiatives of the department to enable students to get job
