SWACHHATA PAKHAWADA

1st July to 15th July 2020

Students of R.M.Salgaocar participated in Swachhata Pakhawada 2020 organised

by ONGC from 1st July to 15th July. The various competition held under

Swachhata Pakhawada were : Poster competition, Essay competition, Photography

competition and Collage making competition. 10 students participated and they

were given participation certificate.

GURU POORNIMA CELEBRATION

5th July 2020

Cultural Union of R.M.Salgaocar celebrated Online Guru Poornima by organising

Poetry Recitation and Writing competition. Total six students participated in the

event. The competition was judged by our teacher Ms. Vasanti Hondkar. Ms.

Astha Kossambe Ms. Sanchita Gawde, Ms. Arya Kamat secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd

place respectively.

ONLINE ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION

15th August 2020

As part of Independence Day celebrations State Council of Educational Research

and Training (SCERT) organised an Online Essay writing competition on the

topic “ Digital India- Opportunities during Covid 19 and beyond”. Ms. Astha

Kossambe participated in the competition.

Prant, organised an Essay competition in

Marathi and the Topic was “ Personal

Experience of Family during Corona”.

ONLINE TALENT SEARCH PROGRAMME

10th October 2020

The Cultural Union organised an Online Talent Search programme on 10th Oct

2020 for the students of Std XI. To showcase their Talents students were asked to

send the photographs and videos to Mrs. Suvidha Tuenkar (Covenor), Mrs.

Sandhya Korgaonkar, Mrs. Shantadurga Naik, Ms. Apurva Pagui and Mrs. Soniya

Kavlekar. The talent showcased through photographs and videos were Painting,

Poster making, Essay, videos depicting their Singing skills, dance , mimicry,

Monologue and various other arts and crafts work. We received very good

response from the students and in each category 3 prizes were given and all others

received participating certificate.

MONOLOGUE COMPETITION

22nd October 2020

Konkani Bhasha Mandal organised Ram Mukund Nayak Vakrutva Competition

(Monologue Competition) in Konkani. Ms. Astha Kossambe Participated from our

institution.

CREATIVE AKASH KANDIL MAKING COMPETITION

14th November 2020

The Cultural Union organised Creative Akash Kandil Making Competition on the

occasion of Diwali on 14th Nov 2020. The Theme was “Wealth out of waste”, and

overwhelming response was received from the students and three prizes were

awarded.

CONSTITUTIONAL DAY CELEBRATION

25th November 2020

To commemorate “Constitutional Day” The Cultural Union organised a webinar

on “The Constitution of India” in the Smart Class. Adv Yamini Jivba Dalvi,

Assistant Professor in Law, G.R.Kare college, Margao was the resource person. In

her speech she spoke about the importance of the Constitution in our Country,

Salient features and Fundamental Rights of the Citizen. 70 students attended the

session online and 25 students were present physically for the session. Principal

Mrs. Cintia Abranches welcomed the gathering, Ms. Apurva Pagui introduced the

Resource person and Mrs. Suvidha Tuenkar proposed the Vote of thanks. The

Webinar was compered by Mrs. Shantadurga Naik. As per the circular received

from the SCERT we were instructed to conduct the reading of Preamble at

11.00 AM along with Honourable Prime Minister on 26th Nov 2020 . The same

was organised by a Google Meet wherein all the classes participated in the meet.

NSS Unit of R. M. Salgaocar Higher Secondary School had undertaken various

activities for NSS Students .

VIRTUAL TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

5th

September 2020

Teacher’s Day celebration was held through Google meet which was coordinated

by the teacher’s in-charge of students council on 5th Sept 2020. The students of std.

XII expressed their gratitude to the teachers by organizing a short programme.

Students created a short video expressing their appreciation for the hard work put

in by teachers. They made a slide show presentation, where each teacher was

presented with a personalized virtual card and a message expressing their

gratitude. Teachers also had the opportunity to reply.

October 2020, on the topic:

On the Occasion of National Education Day 11th

November 2020 the student’s

council organized Slogan Writing Competition on the Topic “Importance of

Education”

Sejal Vharkhat from XI D won the prize in Hindi category.

Looluwa Razvi from XI D won the prize in English category.

TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION

5TH September 2020

On 5th September 2020, the PTA of R M Salgaocar HSS, celebrated Teachers’ Day

at 4.30 pm. in the Multipurpose Hall. Principal Mrs Cintia Abranches welcomed

the gathering and appreciated the entire staff for the sacrifices and challenges they

have had to adjust to, due to the pandemic.

To make it a memorable year PTA distributed 16 GB pendrives, keychain tags

and colourful masks which they felt were the need of the hour.

PTA member Sumaya Khan did the comparing, Treasurer Mrs Roniva Paes

sponsored sealed refreshment. She also distributed canvas paintings made by her

son for all his Office Management teachers.

PTA President Mr Wilson Gonsalves explained that the PTA term had continued

into the lockdown, and hence there were no newly elected members. He then

proposed the vote of thanks. It was very short function of half an hour and all

SOPs were observed.

WEBINAR ON CANCER PREVENTION AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

30th October 2020

On Friday 30th October 2020, the PTA of RMS HSS in collaboration with

Sanjeevani: Life Beyond Cancer, conducted a Webinar at 2pm for students and

parents on "Cancer Prevention and Healthy Lifestyle". The reasons behind

selecting the topic were October being the month dedicated to Cancer Awareness;

and also the fact that COVID-19 had wrongly side-lined the harmful effects of

cancer despite India ranking 3rd highest in breast cancer among Asian countries.

Mr Vinayak Angle (Chairman of RMS School Managing Committee and Second

Vice President of Vidya Vikas Mandal) addressed the online gathering. PTA

President Mr Wilson Gonsalves introduced Sanjeevani member Ms Somadrita

Neog, who vividly explained the Sanjeevani programmes in a nutshell. Founder

member of Sanjeevani Mrs Ruby Ahluvalya, who was introduced by Ms Sumki

Begum, then shared her personal experience of fighting cancer and starting various

programmes to uplift others still struggling in its snare.

Mr Wilson Gonsalves then introduced Ms Sumki Begum (Project Coordinator of

Sanjeevani), who took over the session and beautifully explained how men and

women could check themselves for breast cancer. She also stressed on meditation,

exercise, healthy meals and proper sleep. This was followed by a fun Quiz

conducted by Ms Sumki Begum, along with declaration of the first three winners.

Our Principal then led a Pledge on being a true supporter in erradicating cancer

from the society.

Next, Mrs Riya Desai (Teacher Representative of the PTA) introduced our School

Counsellor Ms Gail Rebello, who gave an interesting session on "Tips for

Parenting during COVID-19". She suggested how parents could spend quality time

with their children, listening to them, encouraging them in various hobbies and

activities, and how to maintain safety when online. Our Principal Mrs Cintia

Borges e Abranches proposed the Vote of Thanks and by 4pm the PTA Secretary

Ms MaryAnne R D'souza who was compeering the programme, then brought the

16th August 2020

International Youth Day was celebrated in RMS Higher Secondary School by

organising Poster Competition on the theme “YOUTH AND HIV AIDS’.

Total 12 Students participated: ( Roshini Madekar, Poonam Tandel, Sailee

Manjrekar, Saisha Naik, Racheal Coutinho, Shreya Durg, Mizba Shaikh, Rohit

SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY

10th September 2020

An E-poster competition was organized by Gail G.Rebelo (Counselor of RMS

HSS) which was held on 10th September 2020 for the students of std 11th and

12th in accordance of “Suicide Prevention Day”, which is observed on 10th

September 2020.

The students were instructed to either send in sketch or coloured posters depicting

“A healthy body+ healthy mind = a happy and healthy me”

A total number of 50 entries were received for the same. 8 winners were chosen in

the coloured category and 2 in the sketch category. The winners were given

e-certificates.

MENTAL HEALTH DAY

10th October 2020

A Photography Competition was held on 10th October 2020, organized by Gail

G.Rebelo (Counsellor of RMS HSS) for the students of std 11th and 12th in

accordance of “mental health day”, which is observed on 10th October 2020.

The students were instructed to send in photos clicked by them depicting

“Emotions through their lens” which could be either human or animal emotions .

A total number of 52 entries were received for the category on animal emotions

and 18 entries on human emotions. 8 winners were chosen in the coloured category

and 2 in the sketch category. The winners were given e-certificates.

The Examination Committee conducted the first ever Online exams for the students of std 11th and 12th through FEDENA . Since it was for the first time, exams were conducted online, the committee conducted Mock Test on themselves and only after that Mock Tests were conducted for both the standards. The teachers were trained to upload the question paper and download the answer sheets. Students of std 12th who missed the exams for the first time were asked to come to the institution to answer the re-exam.

21st June 2020

Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2020. Students performed various yoga

aasanas and pranayama exercises.

NATIONAL SPORTS DAY

29th August 2020

Interclass Skipping Competition was organized on 29th August 2020 on the

occasion of National Sports Day. 20 students participated in the competition.

Arya Kamat from our institution participated for the State Level Essay Writing

competition organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs on the occasion

of National Sports Day.

INTERVIEW OF FC GOA PLAYER

9th September 2020

To motivate the students an interview of U-19

India player and FC Goa player Mast.

Princeton Rebello was conducted on 9th

September 2020 through Google Meet.

Princeton shared his experience and guided

students on how to consider sports as a

profession as well as how to balance sports and

studies simultaneously. The video was than

circulated to the students.

WEBINAR ON MENTAL WELLNESS

4th November 2020

A webinar was conducted on Mental

Wellness by the Department of Sports

on 4th November 2020. The guest

speaker for the webinar were Dr. Enid

Miranda and Gail G. Rebello. The aim

of the webinar was to help students

overcome stress during the Covid 19

pandemic.
