All information as of September 2017
DZHK MENTORING PROGRAMMEIn March 2018 the DZHK Mentoring
Programme goes into its 5th year. For the
first time, the complete programme will
be held in English. The DZHK Mentoring
Programme is directed at young physicians
and scientists as well as at scientific man
agement employees in or on the way to
their first leadership position. It accompa
nies the participants for a period of one year
and focusses on their individual personality.
The participants become more familiar with
their social, communicative and professional
abilities. The three modules consisting of the
mentormenteetandem, four qualification
workshops and personal coaching sessions
prepare them for challenging situations that
occur in leadership positions and personal lives.
The broad network within the DZHK enables
the mentees to compare the structures of their
own professional environment to that of others.
MENTORING► Tandem between a young academic at the beginning of her/his independent career
(mentee) and a highly qualified senior researcher (mentor)► Mentors share their professional knowledge and their experiences with less experienced
younger persons with the aim to support those mentees in their personal and professional
development► Broad range of topics like education/qualification, career, work/lifebalance and personal
development► Benefits for mentees: Learning from mentor’s experience as well as access to informal
knowledge as valuable resources► Benefits for mentors: Young academic’s view on diverse aspects of the mentor’s profession
al life; needs, aims and wishes of young researchers can be very stimulating and potentially
lead to new ideas for mentor’s own work► Benefits for both: Mentoring as a networking tool
