Outcomes DIBELS Benchmark Goals

Goals for lowest students Initial Sound Fluency:

- 25 sounds per minute by Winter Kindergarten Phoneme Segmentation Fluency:

- 35 sounds per minute by Spring Kindergarten Nonsense Word Fluency:

- 50 sounds per minute by Winter First Grade with at least 15 words recoded

DIBELS Oral Reading Fluency:- 40 words correct per minute by Winter First Grade- 90 words correct per minute by Winter Second Grade- 110 words correct per minute by Winter Third Grade

How Do We Use DIBELS?Types of Assessment

Benchmark assessment

- All students 3-4 times per year (there is no evidence that 3 is better than 4)

Progress monitoring

- Students who need support more frequently (more need to monitor more frequently)
