VAXAMINE EQ PRODUCT CATALOG
The worlds only all natural, dual enzyme inhibitor for horses ! Veterinarian recommended.
As inflammation and its damaging effects continue to be a growing concern for horse owners and
veterinarians alike, we struggle with the fact that we know anti-inflammatory drugs can cause
serious side effects for the animals that we love. Fortunately, a major breakthrough in nutriceutical
science has occurred.
Elara Nutriceuticals has created Växamine EQ™, the world’s foremost all-natural, botanical COX-
2 & 5-LOX inhibitor for horses. The Växamine EQ™ technology is so unique and effective that it
has been awarded a U.S. patent and has two more pending. Now there is a highly effective,
clinically proven all natural alternative to equine anti-inflammatory drugs.
If your horse is suffering with an inflammatory condition than Växamine EQ™ may be just
what they need to be pain free and maintain an active lifestyle. Here are a few of the many
conditions that can benefit from Växamine EQ™;
Arthritis
Bursitis
Laminitis (founder)
Synovitis
Tendonitis
Bucked Shins
Swollen Joints
Myositis (sore muscles
What Is Inflammation?
Inflammation is a normal and complex process caused by a reaction to injury or infection. It is
caused by the body’s release of hormone-like substances called prostaglandin E2 and leukotriene
B4. These inflammatory-inducing agents are synthesized from arachidonic acid by the enzymes
cylooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and 5-lipooxygenase (5-LOX). There is also an increase of white blood
cells in the area of injury or infection. This increased number of cells and inflammatory
substances within a joint cause irritation, destruction of cartilage (cushions at the end of bones)
and swelling of the joint lining. The physical symptoms of inflammation are pain, redness,
swelling, heat, reduced performance, loss of function and stiffness. There are also psychological
symptoms including lethargy, apathy, and loss of appetite and an increase of pain sensitivity.
These symptoms are known as “Sickness Behavior”.
Injuries can be caused by blunt trauma (i.e. an accident) or by a repetitive stressor over a period of
weeks, months or even years. Natural deterioration of the body (aging) is also a precursor to
inflammation. Inflammation can be acute or chronic. Acute inflammation usually last from hours
to several days; it is self-limiting and rarely results in permanent tissue damage. On the other
hand, chronic inflammation progresses slowly and can last for many months or years and will
most likely result in permanent tissue damage. Some examples of chronic inflammation can be
Arthritis, Tendonitis, Synovitis, and Bursitis, and Laminitis (founder), Epiphysitis (enlarged joints
on fast growing horses) as well as other conditions involving pain, swelling and stiffness.
Is Inflammation Bad?
In the acute stage, for short periods of time, inflammation is normal. However, when
inflammation lasts longer than just a few days it now becomes part of the problem by slowing
down the healing process. This happens because chronic inflammation reduces local circulation
and places continued stress on the surrounding tissues which can cause pain and cellular damage.
Inflammation is also seen in some long term disease states known a “Chronic Inflammatory
Conditions”. Whether inflammation contributes to the cause of these conditions or is a response to
them is not yet fully understood. However, it is believed that controlling inflammation may help
alleviate these conditions or even prevent them.
How Does Vaxamine EQ™
Work?
Växamine EQ™ uses a proprietary blend
of synergistic ingredients to provide the
highest possible level of anti-inflammatory
properties. Utilizing a patented extraction
process we are able to use “Bio-Chemical
Specific Plant Extracts” to formulate
highly effective nutriceutical compounds.
One such extract comes from the hops
plant. This natural extract is a highly
selective inhibitor of two enzymes that
cause inflammation (enzymes COX-2 & 5-
LOX). These enzymes change arachidonic
acid into pro-inflammatory leukotrienes
which are then used by the body to create
inflammation and pain. Our unique hops
extract is so effective that in a human oral
dosing clinical study it outperformed
Celebrex® as a COX-2 inhibitor and was
more selective than Vioxx®. This means
that Växamine EQ™ selectively inhibits
COX-2 while leaving COX-1 virtually
untouched. This is extremely important
Inflammatory Cycle
because COX-1 is involved in the
production of prostaglandins that are vital
to the health of the gastrointestinal and
cardiovascular systems. Now you can get
the results that you would expect from a
drug but without the concerns of side-
effects. Simply put, Växamine EQ™ is
very potent yet gastro and cardio friendly.
It is well documented that the COX pathway generates inflammatory prostaglandins, but medical
research has largely ignored the potentially damaging effects of 5-LOX, the enzyme that forms
the second branch of the dual arachidonic acid inflammation pathways.
5-LOX generates inflammatory leukotrienes, which are known to be potent inflammatory
mediators that play a role in pain and allergic reactions. They may also play a role in ischemia
and atherosclerosis.2 Stroke, traumatic brain injury, and Alzheimer's disease have also been
linked to the activity of 5-LOX and leukotrienes.1 The results of a recent study indicate that
blocking COX-2 while ignoring the effects of 5-LOX may be counter-productive. In fact, using
COX-2 inhibitors to block the activity of COX-2 may actually cause 5-LOX levels to increase
further, making inflammation worse, rather than better.1 This "rebound" inflammation is
evidently caused by shifting arachidonic acid toward synthesis of damaging leukotrienes through
the 5-LOX pathway.
In one 5-LOX inhibition study, researchers speculated, ‘Inhibitors of the two pathways might
have additive, or even synergistic neuroprotective effects when used in combination.' By study's
end, they had concluded that a 5-LOX inhibitor " significantly potentiated the effects of three
different COX inhibitors."1 Their findings suggest, quite simply, that while anti-inflammatory
therapy with COX-inhibitors may be neuroprotective , therapy combining both COX and 5-LOX
inhibitors should prove considerably more effective.
This is one reason why we formulated Vaxamine EQ™ to inhibit 5-LOX. You can feel confident
knowing that clinical studies have found Vaxamine EQ™ to be both effective and safe.
General Questions
1) Q: What is Vaxamine EQ™? A: Växamine EQ™ is an all-natural botanical anti-inflammatory pain reliever that has proven to be as strong as prescription drugs but without the side effects. 2) Q: Is Vaxamine EQ™ a Drug? A: No, Växamine EQ™ is not a drug and does not require a prescription. All of the ingredients are completely natural. 3) Q: Is Vaxamine EQ™ hypoallergenic? A: Being all-natural, the chance of an allergic reaction is unlikely, but not impossible. Consult your veterinarian for advice. 4) Q: How does Vaxamine EQ™ perform when compared to prescription anti-inflammatories? A: Clinical studies find that Växamine EQ™ out preformed Celebrex® in the reduction of COX-2 and was more selective than both Vioxx® and Celebrex® as a COX-2 inhibitor, making Växamine EQ™ more gastro and cardio friendly. The study also found that Växamine EQ™ had NO adverse side effects. All ingredients are FDA GRAS. 5) Q: Will Vaxamine EQ™ upset my horses stomach like some drugs do? A: Växamine EQ™ is composed of natural, botanical ingredients and is a highly selective COX-2 inhibitor. Many drugs that use COX inhibition are not very selective, meaning they will block nearly all COX production. By doing so they stop the production of Prostaglandins that are important for gastrointestinal health. This can cause stomach discomfort and even gastric bleeding. To date, we have had no reports of Växamine EQ™ causing any stomach issues. 6) Q: Is Vaxamine EQ™ safe to use with medications? A: Yes! All of the ingredients in Växamine EQ™ are FDA GRAS rated. According to the FDA there are no contraindications with medications or other nutritional supplements. 7) Q: Is Vaxamine EQ™ appropriate for all classes of horses? A: Yes! Växamine EQ™ is appropriate for all classes including pregnant mares, foals, growing horses, performance horses and senior horses. HYPP Safe (no added potassium). It is always important to consult your veterinarian before beginning any new supplement program. 8) Q: Is Vaxamine EQ™ FDA approved? A: Please remember, Växamine EQ™ is not a drug. The FDA will not approve any form of alternative medicine (i.e. vitamins, minerals, herbs, etc.). However, the ingredients in Växamine EQ™ are FDA "GRAS" (Generally Recognized As Safe). 9) Q: Do I need a prescription? A: No. Vaxamine EQ™ is not a drug, therefore you do not need a prescription.
10) Q: Will Vaxamine EQ™ make my horse drowsy? A: Not at all. 11) Q: How long will it take before I see results? A: Växamine EQ™ works very quickly! You should begin to see a reduction in pain and inflammation within the first 5 to 7 days. If you follow the suggested dosing schedule for your horses weight and do the two day loading period you will be amazed with the results. Your horse will be pretty happy about it as well. A clinical study found that the proprietary anti-inflammatory compound used in Växamine EQ™ begins to reduce the COX-2 enzyme within about 2 hours. Within 8 hours the study showed a reduction of 56%. This is extremely fast for a natural product. Keep in mind that the drug Celebrex® (a human anti-inflammatory) only reduces the COX-2 enzyme by about 45%. This makes Växamine EQ™ more potent than a prescription drug. See Växamine™ Clinical Study. Just like with any natural supplement or drug it can take longer for some horses than for others. The average time frame to see results is 5 to 7 days but some horses may need up to 2 weeks to experience the maximum benefits of Växamine EQ™. Factors such as weight, gender, genetics, and condition severity can play a role. 12) Q: How do I administer Vaxamine EQ™ to my horse? A: Växamine EQ™ is an apple flavored tablet. The suggested dose is determined by the weight of your horse. A suggested dosage chart can be found on the bottle. Dosage should be given in two equal doses (morning & night). A 1200 pound horse should get 1 ½ tablets twice daily. Double suggested dosage for the first two days. Växamine EQ™ is not a drug and is very safe, so dosages may be adjusted according to results. Increase the suggested dose until you get the desired results. 13) Q: What is COX-2 and 5-LOX? A: COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2) and 5-LOX (Lipoxygenase) are enzymes involved in the process of inflammation.
Testimonials
We started our severly foundered mare on
Vaxamine EQ One week ago and the
improvement in her pain level and her
movement is incredible. This mare is due to
foal any day now and other drugs have side
effects for pregnant mares so we were
thrilled to find something that worked and
was all natural too!! I can't thank Dr. Biehl
enough for helping us with this mare and
suggesting Vaxamine EQ.

Dear Elara nutriceuticals, Inc.,
Thank you for sending our recent order of Vaxamine EQ.
Casper, a three-year-old Arabian, has a fungal abscess in his eye. This is a painful condition
and he had been on veterinarian prescribed Banamine daily for over four weeks. He also had
to be on GastroGuard to protect his stomach from the medication. Casper was started on
Vaxamine EQ two weeks ago and taken off all Banamine. He has not had any swelling or
flare-ups of his eye since then.
We are thrilled with the results of using Vaxamine EQ and are so thankful there is an
alternative to long-term use of painkillers that can have gastro intestinal side effects.
Thank you for this wonderful product.
Sincerely,
Morgan Silver Executive Director

I’m writing to you today regarding my personal experience with your new Anti-
Inflammatory product, Växamine EQ.
My 29 year old Arab mare, Bru, developed laminitis in early June this year. My vet was out
on June 5, at which time we started Isoxoprine and Banamine, as the mare cannot tolerate
Bute. She was also started on Pergolide for cushings symptoms. Because of pre-existing
digestive/diarrhea issues, we utilized Banamine cautiously, one gram per day, but were still
only able to get nine days of medication into her before she developed edema. At that time
her feet remained hot and her pulses bounding. On June 19, x-rays revealed bilateral two
degree coffin bone rotation.
In the absence of “traditional” anti-inflammatory medications that the mare could tolerate I
started researching natural forms of anti-inflammatories, most of which contained the
warning, “May be contraindicated for use in horses with a history of ulcers”. Due to her pre-
existing digestive issues and diarrhea, which had already been aggravated by the
medications, I hesitated to try products with that warning. During my research I found your
product, Växamine EQ. After talking with you I ordered a bottle and started Bru on August
23, six days after her fist dose my vet rechecked, her pulses were down and her feet were
cool; and, they have remained stable to date. A second set of x-rays on that date also
confirmed no rotational changes since June 19.
Other than the addition of Vaxamine EQ, there were no medication changes to which I can
attribute the resolution of the inflammatory process. While Bru’s prognosis is complicated
by pre-existing arthritic changes in her knee, her feet remain stable, she is pasture sound,
bright eyed and eating like a horse. I believe your product played a significant part in her
condition today and I do not hesitate to tell my friends about my experience.
Sincerely,
Carol Swindall
Hi Dr Biehl. Thought I would give you an update on my old pony. We started two tablets
twice a day on Monday. She won't eat them so I crushed them up and put them in a dose
syringe with a little bit of water. Decided it was easier to just crush them and put it in a
handful of Senior Feed. Yesterday was her third day and she is walking 90% normal! No
drugs since Monday morning. Today she was looking over the stall wall and nickered for me
to feed her. All her feed is cleaned up, her pregnant tummy has relaxed and dropped down to
normal. I bet this is the first time in 4 - 5 months she is almost pain free. And the first time in
4 months she has not had banamine. She was getting 1cc a day, maybe a little more. Plus
tons of probiotic. Her poop is even normal looking now.
So I'm excited about the product. I hope I don't have to use it on myself any time real soon,
but it's nice to know something safe is out there to take.
Thanks again for your assistance. I'll let you know how Valyea progresses. Seeing her
walking around the barn, versus being on the ground most of the time is thrilling!!!!

To the makers of Vaxamine:
Penny is a 22 year old Beautiful Sorrel Tennessee Walker with a Flaxen mane and tail who
used to gait like a dream. I used to love to watch her run the pasture with her long wavy
mane flowing in the wind, and she did love to run. When I could still ride her we would run
across the top of the fields and gait along the paths and she was so smooth. Then a calcium
deposit formed on her left front knee. She became increasingly lame. I tried every
supplement on the market, even ones that were supposed to dissolve calcium. One of the
supplements really helped but she was still lame. Many times I would go on a short ride but
end up walking home beside her. Last fall (2006) I had to retire her from riding. I had
already purchased another walker. Penny got so lame that I called the vet and he said that
her back legs where breakng down from favoring her front leg and that she would get down
and not be able to get up. He said that I would have to put her down soon! The I found
Vaxamine and decided to try it as a last resort. After the load-up dose I was amazed to see
her running up the hill bucking and jumping with her mane flowing in the wind again.
Sometimes she acts like a 2 year old and what a miracle this has been for her. We still do not
ride her but it is so wonderful to see her in less pain and more comfortable than she has been
in a very long time. Thank you so much for such a wonderful product!

The biggest difference between Växamine™ and other supplements I have used is that
Växamine™ actually works.
My hips and knees had been bothering me to a point that I could not sleep at night. I had to
take 3-6 aspirin a day or load up on ibuprofen in order to play golf. Then I heard about an all
natural nutriceutical that had the properties of a Cox-2 inhibiter. I was skeptical but I ordered
a bottle and researched the ingredients to see if they were safe. I was satisfied that
Växamine™ was not dangerous so I gave it a try.
Within 12hrs I could tell a difference. By the next evening, 36 hours after starting on
Växamine™ I was in heaven, no pain in my hips or knees and I got the best sleep I have had
in weeks. I was so impressed with the product that I contacted the manufacturer and asked
them if they could come up with a formula for horses. Why, because I am an Equine
Veterinarian and I see horses every day in need of an anti-inflammatory without side affects.
Like I told the makers of Växamine™, "If it works as well on horses as it has on me you
have really got something".
I am also very pleased with the results that I have had on dogs with hip dysphasia. Within
days the difference in the animal’s ability to move freely is quite remarkable.
I have now purchased several cases of Växamine™ so that I can continue to test it with other
inflammatory conditions. So far the results have been outstanding! I would recommend
Växamine™ to anyone who is looking to reduce pain and inflammation and wants to do so
in a natural way.
Sincerely,
Dr. David L. Biehl DVM
