Use Dyesol’s EL-HPE High Performance Electrolyte with any of Dyesol’s dyes to get optimum voltage and current performance. Particularly suitable for glass or metal/glass substrate-based DSC systems.

Dyesol’s EL-HPE High Performance Electrolyte is a low viscosity, high ionic conductivity liquid electrolyte and therefor provides highest performance. Due to the low boiling point of the main solvent and the chemistry of the electrolyte mixture, EL-HPE will not provide best long term stability under standard solar conditions and/or under elevated temperature testing.

    Solvent: 3-methoxypropionitrile

    Available Quantities: 5ml – 500ml+

Use Dyesol’s EL-HSE High Stability Electrolyte to achieve ultra-long life in normal operating conditions. Particularly suitable for glass or metal/glass substrate-based DSC systems.

Dyesol’s EL-HSE High Stability Electrolyte is a low toxicity liquid electrolyte. This is the “work horse” electrolyte system for long term stability testing. Outstanding stability has been achieved with EL-HSE in in-house tests (25,600 hours of continuous light soaking at 55-60oC, see http://reginnovations.com/key-scientific-articles/long-term-stability-of-dye-solar-cells/) and by our customers (3000 hours at 85oC, see http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0927024809004048; 1000 hours at 85oC, see http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/pip.1213/abstract)

Dyesol’s EL-SGE - Gel Electrolyte is a gelled version of EL-HSE - High Stability Electrolyte. It is a low toxicity gel electrolyte. While it is a high viscosity, quasi-solid system EL-SGE ionic conductivity remains high, similar to the electrolyte conductivity of EL-HSE.

EL-HTE High Temperature ElectrolyteRedox couple: I3

    -/I- triiodide/iodide

Additives:Inorganic iodide salt, organic iodide salt, imidazole compound

    Solvent: 3-butoxypropionitrile

    Available Quantities: 5ml – 500ml+

Use Dyesol’s EL-HTE - High Temperature Electrolyte to achieve ultra-long life in DSC systems while minimising solvent evaporation.

EL-HTE is particularly suitable for flexible DSC, where transparent flexible substrates do not offer the same hermetic barrier properties such as glass or metal substrates.

EL-HTE High Temperature Electrolyte has a lower vapour pressure than EL-HSE High Stability Electrolyte but is otherwise chemically very similar.

EL-HTE High Temperature Electrolyte can be supplied in gelled form upon request.

Automated Hole-Drilling MachineUse Use Dyesol’s Automated Hole-Drilling Machine to create electrolyte fill holes in your glass DSC substrate.

Description & BenefitsThe Automated Hole Drilling Machine uses a fast, dry process which avoids use of water and avoids constant replacement of high-cost drill-bits. It offers a highly controllable setup optimised for DSC and uses inexpensive grit material for low-cost operation.

The Automated Hole Drilling Machine is used for creating electrolyte fill holes in glass substrates during the initial stage of glass electrode preparation. Accurate holes are produced by application of fine, high-pressure blasting media onto the substrate.

A high efficiency vacuum filtration system is incorporated to collect airborne dust from the blasting chamber of the system. The output from this mechanism can be vented into the operating room. Larger blasting debris falls to the base of the machine and is collected in a sump.

A clear window allows the user to view the progress of the blasting operation. This high quality, durable machine reduces incidence of stress and cracks that can appear on glass substrate later in DSC production and is the most suitable method for hole-drilling DSC substrates.

Screen PrinterUse Use one of Dyesol’s 3 Screen Printers (compact, medium or large) to apply the wide range of screen printable DSC materials onto your DSC glass substrate in a precise, controllable manner.

Description & BenefitsThe Screen Printer is typically used for the application of an electrical conductor to form a busbar, a catalyst paste to form the counter electrode and a semiconductor paste to form the working electrode. The flexible nature of this piece of equipment allows users to experiment with the application of other cell components such as electrolytes and sealants.

Controllable squeegee speed and controllable pressure allow for precise and repeatable prints for both small and large production runs. Operation is semi-automatic or manual. The chemically inert flood blade ensures no contamination of your Dye Solar Cells.

These screen printers are the best choice for DSC research because they are optimised for use with DSC material sets by the inclusion of Dyesol engineered jigs and flood-blades. The electropneumatics of this machine provide infinite control of flood & squeegee blades which is essential for controlling layer thickness.

Dyesol has extensively researched and tested screen printers and found these models to be the most reliable, highest quality, and cost effective equipment available.

Dye ApplicatorUse Use Dyesol’s Dye Applicator to achieve best absorption of dye onto the titanium dioxide nanoparticle layer of the Dye Solar Cell.

Description & BenefitsThe Dyesol Dye Tank is a natural polypropylene container in which electrode racks can be placed to undergo the dyeing process.

The dye is not exposed to metallic components and avoids all such contamination. The Dye Tank has a hinged lid, which is sealed with an EPDM closed-cell foam stripe. The Dye Tank constantly circulates the dye throughout the tank by means of virgin PTFE tubing and a pneumatic pump. Good dye circulation means better, faster, and more uniform dye coverage.

Valves are fitted at the outlet points of the tank to allow for drainage and to permit the circulation tubing to be removed for cleaning.

Test Cell Dyeing TankUse Use Dyesol’s Test Cell Dyeing Tank to dye up to 8 test cell electrodes per tank.

Description & BenefitsDyesol’s Test Cell Dyeing Tanks allow for a minimum of dye solution to provide effective dye coverage for test cell sized electrodes. The glass construction of the tanks is inherently chemically inert and can accommodate a wide variety of dye solvents.

The DyeingTanks must be placed within a dark, dry environment (5% RH or less) for optimal dying performance. Dye solution cannot be stored for extended periods within these tanks. Dyesol’s Test Cell Dye Tanks offer a low-cost, simple and effective solution for dyeing test cell electrodes.

SpecificationsFeature Description Benefit / Additional InformationRobust material Chemically inert glass construction. Ensures no contamination of dye solution from the

Test Cell Assembly MachineUse Use Dyesol’s custom designed Test Cell Assembly Machine to quickly and easily assemble multiple DSC test cells.

Description & BenefitsDyesol’s Test Cell Assembly Machine (TCAM) provides the user with a rapid, reliable and repeatable method for the assembly and permanent sealing of DSC test cells.

The TCAM applies flat, equal pressure across the cell for even sealing. A combination of light mechanical pressure and resistive heating is used in sealing. An electrical current is passed through the conductive layer on the glass substrate of the counter electrode to melt a thermoplastic gasket between the counter and working electrodes.

The temperature which the counter electrode reaches can be controlled by adjusting the voltage which controls the current allowed to flow through the conductive layer. This is important because excessive temperatures will damage dyes. The mechanical pressure applied to the cell during construction and the time of application can be varied by a user-adjustable pressure regulator and a timing unit. This is important because it ensures consistent, repeatable cell construction.

Dyesol’s Test Cell Assembly Machine is designed to accommodate DSC test cells of the dimensions listed below.
