GPU optimization

Dental Wings is proud to announce that the 7Series scanner scan

timing is reduced by up to 25% thanks to new algorithms allowing

massive parallel data processing on the graphics card (GPU) instead of

the main processor (CPU). Dental Wings has been investigating this

new computation area for a while, this spectacular achievement is the

first example of the future drastic computation time reduction to be

introduced in various Dental Wings software in the future.

This new computation technology will be available from DWOS

9.0/Cares 13.0 and requires specific hardware configuration.


Support more 3rd pary scanners (IO): Import Multiple files

In Scan import, users can now loadmultiple files.

After assigning the first file, simply click on the browse button to add another file.

All the files are merged into one mesh

This allows to easily manage output coming from 3rd Party IO scanners generating more than 1 file for bite scan for instance


Virtual Articulator

Improving the virtual articulator was one of the big milestones of DWOS 9. Here are the topics, where users should see big improvements when usingthe Virtual Articulator feature in DWOS:

• Correct a lot of bugs in the articulator• Updated and improved physics engine• Optimize exploration & contact points• Integration of Artex CR normal and average guidance• Calibration of Artex CR/ 7Series


Virtual Articulator, Bug Fixes

We have mostly fixed all the bugs reported on the use of the virtual articulator.

Most of the bugs caused the articulator to break. With DWOS 9, the articulator cannot break anymore

One noticeable major bug fix is about the use of the incisal pin, which has been resolved.


Virtual Articulator, Improvements, Condylar Boxes

The condylar boxes have been improved by adding a guidance mesh inside the Virtual Articulator definition. It allows to better track the condylar boxes path and have different definitions for different articulators.

The Amman Girbach Artex articulator has been integrated intoDWOS.

Both the Artex CR standard anterior guidance & averageanterior guidance have been integrated.

Partial Design Parameter stored into Material

Users can now set partial design parameters per material and have different settings per material

Those parameters are exported whensaving material file as xml → Ease

parameter setting sharing and backup.


Angled Screw Channel, Virtual Wax-Up

Angled Screw Channel feature is now available for virtual wax-up !Simply use Adjust Axis as for standard ASC case.


Scan Body Detection

It might happen that the visible part of the scan body in the scan file isvery short, leading to a wrong repostioning. Mostly when the scan file come from Intral oral scanner

Now; the user have the option to reduce the visible height of the scan body to adjust it to the visible height

PLY as export option for surface file

It is now possible to save surface as PLY. This allow to keep color and texture if the initial file as texture mapping.

Finish up the face scan improvements introduced in DWOS 8• Face scan can be exported once positionned• Face scan is now part of the retreived scan files option• Face scan is now embedded in .order file when exporting case

3 types of bases model has been implemented• Plain• Offset• Hollow

Plain: creates a full modeltype

Offset: creates a model witha border line. Note the offsetparam to define thethickness of the borderline

You can now zip material xml files, and import them all at once.


Misc: Repositionning in CAD

In CAD Design station, user can now choose on which surface to reposition gingiva, wax-up and bone


Misc: Upper and lower wax-up

In previous version, when designing with a upper and lower wax-up, it was impossible to edit the position of the lower wax-up. The software was always editing the upper wax-up. Bug Fixed !


Misc: DWOS Synergy, show hide synergy abutments

While doing synergy abutment, users can now show/hide synergy implant to focus on the anatomy design

Live measurements instantly display the shortest distance from the pointer to the closest point of a specifiedsurface.Minimum thickness: when the pointer is on a restoration, the measurement displays the thickness of thematerial at this point.Upper arch: shows the measurement (or distance) between the pointer and the upper arch.If the design is on an upper arch, this helps with interproximal contacts; if on a lower arch, it helps withocclusal contacts.Lower arch: shows the measurement (or distance) between the pointer and the lower arch.If the design is on a lower arch, this helps with the interproximal contacts; if on a upper arch, it helps withocclusal contacts.

Design enhancements, Grid

User can dynamicallydisplay a grid to easedesign (symetricaldesign)

The grid cell size can beconfigured and be set as Foreground or Background

User have now all needed flexibilities to design much betterconnectors.

Connectors can be shaped freely by moving their contour line on distal and mesial sides.



If needed, enlarge the connector area view by clicking on the Expand view icon.

Use the pointer to freely shape the green and red contour line.



Natural connectors are enabled as soon as anatomies make contactConnectors can be forced by checking the box Force connector from Edit prosthesis parameters > Connectors Parameters.
