From the Principal’s Desk… Dear Eisenhower Parents: YEAH!! 99% of our third graders

completed their IREAD tests today. The teachers are so pleased with their students’ performance! Thanks to all parents for cooperating with us so much and making sure your children were here and ready to test. We now have some time to continue our grade level work before completing the final round of state testing in late April/early May. The final part of the testing will be a multiple choice format.

On March 1st, about 530 people took part in Chicago’s Polar Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics Program and raised $158,000. I am pleased to report that four of our students, A.J. (2nd grade) & Vinny (K) Gambino, and Reme (3rd grade) and Rogan (future K) Solis along with their mom and aunt(s), took the plunge! As you can see, they had a great time in VERY chilly water. Great job!

St. Patrick’s Day in CP will be a big day for Eisenhower School. A record 41 students and one parent, along with and our entire Eisenhower family have raised a ton of money so far to benefit St. Baldrick’s mission to eliminate all childhood cancers. Our original lofty goal was $5,000. The Eisenhower family has more than tripled that goal so far ($16, 184.00!) and hope to ultimately take away the winning community trophy (even smokin’ the Mayor’s team!). We have much to be proud of. A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Dusseau and all the parents and students who helped to coordinate this effort. St. Patrick’s Day will be a very proud day for Eisenhower School. Stop by the CP fire station around 6p.m. to cheer on our team. Check out the St. Baldrick’s website. FIRST GRADE “CAREER DAY!” The first grade classes will be having “Career Day” on

Wednesday, March 25th. The children need to dress up to represent what they would like to be when they grow up. All children are

NEWS FROM OUR SCHOOL NURSE ***Attention 5th grade parents! Physicals for 6th grade need to be dated after April 1st, 2015. More information and forms will be coming home after Spring Break.

***School Policy is that any student with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher must be fever free for 24 hours without Tylenol or ibuprofen before they may return to school. This policy helps stop the transmission of flu, strep, and other illnesses. If your child has a temperature over 100 at home, they must remain out of school the following day. Please call me if you have any questions.

ST. BALDRICK’S FOUNDATION CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH

How about a free haircut? Here at Ike, interested students have started a team to shave their heads and help raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which funds

vital research for childhood cancers. Parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, cousins, friends, etc., can join our “Eisenhower Bald Eagles” team too! The Eisenhower National Elementary Honor Society would like to get more participants on our team for this great cause! You can help by joining us and fundraising to shave your head or by simply supporting the team with a donation. Team members can search for the Eisenhower Bald Eagles team on the St. Baldrick’s website and register for this event. EISENHOWER “AFTER SCHOOL CHESS CLUB” Flyers went home to sign up for the final session of Chess Club Scholars. This program is open to students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. No previous knowledge of chess is necessary. Both new and returning participants are welcome and will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholar’s Coach. The final session will begin on Monday, April 6th and end on Monday, June 1st for a total of 8 sessions from 3:35 to 4:35pm. Chess Club will NOT meet on Monday, May 25th (Memorial Day Holiday). CROWN POINT JR. BULLDOGS REGISTRATION Crown Point Jr. Bulldog’s registration will take place on Saturday and Sunday, March 14th and 15th and March 21st and 22nd at the Crown Point Sportsplex.
