ABOUT the DIVERSITY WORK CONFERENCE

Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice (DISJ) is a core tenet in the mission of NTL Institute whose mission is to advance Applied Behavioral Sciencein the service of social justice, oppression-free societies, and healthy individuals, groups, and organizations in the world. Therefore, the DWC is one of two qualifying labs required of members who wish to staff NTLs Core Labs.

The ability to interact effectively across multiple dimensions of social identity group differences in an increasingly diverse and multicultural environment is critical in the world of work today. Many people come to Human Interaction labs and other Core Labs in order to develop their awareness of diversity dynamics and their skills for interacting effectively and inclusively across social difference, whether at work or at home.

The DWC applies NTLs T-Group technology as the primary vehicle for individual learning in the D&I space. Various conceptual frameworks for increasing D&I awareness are presented by program staff, including power and system dynamics, social group identities (e.g. race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, class), and applied in the T-Group.

While the DWC is primarily intended for NTL members who wish to qualify to staff NTLs Core Labs, it has proven to be equally useful for others looking to sharpen their own awareness of diversity dynamics and group facilitation skills in an intensive experiential learning environment.

This LIMITED ENROLLMENT workshop is designed for managers, human resource professionals, organization development consultants and community change agents, from corporate, governmental, and charitable not-for-profit organisations; in other words, anyone who wants to get a solid grounding in D&I theory and practice.

Developed and enhanced over the past several years, the DWC uses an experiential learning model based on NTLs proprietary T-Group technology to prepare group facilitators and other change leaders to apply diversity awareness and techniques for restoring equity in a multitude of social environments, including the workplace. D&I is much more than a set of techniques. It is also a consciousness that is more aligned with the realities emerging in the world today than the mono-cultural worldviews of yesteryear. The DWC takes a constructive and valuing approach to supporting the development of awareness and skills in participants. Applicants should be mindful of the reality that this is an intensive learning experience.
