The first Blizzard Bag assignment is underway at Duxbury High School. Our students have all been invited to join their Blizzard Bag Course with a Schoology code which has been sent to all students on multiple occasions. Many students have already submitted their assignments. I would like to take a moment to review the due date for the March 5, snow day and timeline for grading and posting. March 19 - All work needs to be submitted through Schoology Courses (two weeks from our return to school on 3/5) March 26 - All work will be graded and feedback will be provided by teachers and administra- tors. If work is incomplete or not complete DHS teachers and staff may provide two additional days for students to complete revisions. It is imperative that all DHS students check their Schoology gradebook to see if they need to complete any revisions. March 28 - Due date for any revised student work that was requested by teacher. March 29 - Grades officially posted for any revised assignments. Last week was the MASC conference for Student Councils across the state. Our DHS STUCO was well represented at the conference with fourteen students attending. DHS Junior Berna- dette Farmer was elected MASC Secretary (one of three statewide officer positions) for the 2019-2020 school year. We are all very proud of Miss Farmer for this achievement. Our DHS STUCO were also recognized as a Gold Council of Excellence and received a Top Ten Project award for the voter forum they ran with our AP Government class last fall. Our STUCO leaders bring so much to our school and community and I am very grateful to them and our outstand- ing advisors, for their hard work and leadership. Please join me in congratulating our DHS students who participated in the Plymouth County Civics Bee. Sponsored by the Plymouth League of Women’s Voters, our DHS team (Melissa Linsdell, Elizabeth Linsdell, Teddy Stahl , Olivia Stock and Meagan Burns) placed second. I would also like to thank Ms. Levine who is one of our DHS Social Studies teachers, for her work in coordinating this experience for our students. Our Winter Cheerleading team has moved onto New Englands this weekend after their third place finish Saturday in the state competition and our Boys’ Hockey Team has advanced to the State Championship Game at the TD Garden on Sunday. I would encourage everyone to visit our Athletic Department Website to get the most up to date information on all of our Spring Sport tryouts which begin next Monday. Important Course Selection Dates:AP applications due – March 15th

Students make course selection on portal – March 26-April 3 -grade 8 April 4 - April 12 - grades 9-11Paying for current AP courses – 2018/2019

The AP payment link for the upcoming AP exams (for courses currently taking this year) will be opening today, 2/25. The link will remain open through March 22nd. At that time, the link will close and re-open

March 25th with a late fee attached to each payment. https://unipaygold.unibank.com/CustomerInfo.aspxPlease note- you are REQUIRED to take your AP exams to receive the AP designation and weight on your transcript. Failure to pay or take the exam will result in a loss of AP credit.

Registration for the Summer session of Drivers Education opens on Monday, March 18th. The Summer session will be held from Monday - Friday, June 17 - 21. Class runs from 8 am - 2:30 p.m. in DHS Room 116. The tuition for the program is $675 which includes 30 hours of classroom instruction, 18 hours on the road and a mandatory parent’s class. Registration forms may be picked up in the DHS guidance office or at the Before and After Dark office in the Alden School. Students must be 15 years 9 months of age by June 17th to be eligible for the class. Enrollment is limited to 33 students, with Duxbury residents given first priority through May 31st. DUXBURY TROUPE #355 HAS MOVED ON TO THE SEMI-FINAL ROUIND!

Duxbury, MA - In a post-apocalyptic future, a power hungry military leader with the assistance of her wife plot to usurp the throne from the current king. Murder, magic and more will captivate you over the course of this 40 minute adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic “Macbeth”. As Duxbury High School’s entry in the Massachusetts High School Festival, the play will be one of 112 performed during the preliminary rounds that day at 14 schools across the state.

The Festival is the premier event of the Massachusetts EducationalTheater Guild. Winners of the preliminaries continue to semi-finalsMarch 16th. Finals will be in March 28-30. The top two schools there

will represent the state at the New England Drama Festival in April 15-17 at Cranston High School West. Tickets are $12 cash or check at the

door and entitle the bearer to see any and all plays that day. Once each play begins, anyone arriving must wait until the next play to enter the auditorium.
