Marcus Wijnalda Voorwoord
Hartelijk welkom

Dr. Gil Barzilay Ph.D Dipl.CM (I.A.TCM, ETCMA)
Lecture
Evidence based acupuncture
abroad in Denmark, Poland, Ireland, Finland, USA, Austria and Germany thus far. Gil is part of the International Community of Chinese Medicine (ICCM) and Evidence Based Acupuncture (EBA). He writes regularly research reviews & newsletters (Facebook: drgiltcm). Gil has a B.Sc (Honors) from Imperial College, University of London, a Ph.D from Oxford University in Cancer Research and a European Medical Biology Organization (EMBO) Post-Doctoral fellowship at the Weizmann Institute. He has 11 peer-reviewed publications.
About the lecture
When it comes to validating the claims of Chinese Medicine, there are generally two schools of thought. One states that the time-honored tradition of Chinese Medicine is itself a testament to its efficacy. The other states that scientific evidence is necessary for Chinese Medicine to be accepted into the mainstream Western Medicine establishments.
Thanks to advances in technology and the design of clinical trials, research supports benefits we see in the clinic with both acupuncture and herbal medicine, and in addition also provides insight as to how.
In this talk, Gil will review the research landscape in acupuncture and will highlight key studies in chronic diseases (such as pain, migraine etc) that every therapist should know when communicating with patients and health professionals. Participants will understand why Evidence Based Acupuncture is important and how it serves as a real tool for therapists in our day-to-day practice.
Gil has a Diploma in Chinese Medicine (Dipl. CM, I.A.TCM) with distinction from Broshim College of Integrative Medicine, where he studied both Acupuncture and
Chinese Herbal Medicine. In addition, he completed “Chinese & Macrobiotics Nutrition (TEF Method)” with Eyal Shpringer and is currently finishing 2-years Kiiko
Matsumoto-Style Japanese Acupuncture.
Gil works in “Refuot”, Tel Aviv, one of the Israel’s leading CAM clinics. He teaches “Research in Chinese Medicine”
for 3rd and 4th Year students in Broshim, as well as

Lecture
Three step acpuncture Introductionwith Dr Tan’s
Balance Method
Treatment of knee pain using Dr Tan’sBalance Method
Adi Fromm is the Director of the School of Chinese Medicine at Reidman College, Israel’s largest school of
Chinese Medicine. He is responsible for all academic and pedagogical aspects of the four-year program.
Adi is the former director of the Integrative Medicine Department at Assaf Ha Rofeh Medical Center (Shiräm),
the first Department of Complementary Medicine
founded in a hospital in Israel.Adi continues to teach the internship of orthopedics and internal medicine at the hospital.Adi is an official representative of Dr. Tan in Israel and is a bearer of his Gold Certificate and recently published together with Guy Polak »The Book of Balance Method«.Adi is the coauthor of a study on the effects of acupuncture for the treatment of acute back and neck pain in the ER and the coauthor of a study on the effects of acupuncture on the treatment of I.B.S at Assaf Ha Rofeh Medical Center.
Pain in general and knee pain in particular is one of the main reasons for seeking medical attention. More than 50% of referrals to a family doctor and about 75% of referrals to Chinese medicine are due to a complaint about pain. About a quarter of these referrals is due to knee pain. We believe that today no matter what path you will choose to walk in the future of your Chinese medicine career , you should know how to treat pain disorders and specifically knee pain.
This lecture is the result of many years of treatment and tremendous experience in this field by the founders of the Israeli Tan Center. It is a summary of our work in the orthopedic department of Assaf Ha Rofeh Hospital and in our clinics, actually the first department was the knee outpatient department we started working with the Balance Method . In the lecture, we will briefly review the principles of the Balance Method. We will make a distinction between the different mechanisms leading to knee pain, providing diagnostic emphasis and providing the best of our protocols, including the new developments of the Israeli Tan Center in the treatment of the most common knee pain.We are confident that the treatments you will learn here can be successfully implemented on the very next morning in your clinics and you will see the wonders of the Balance Method in your patients’ smiles.
For more info about the lecture, please read the information on the page of Guy Polak, he is doing part 2 of the Dr. Tan Lecture.

Treatment of back pain using Dr Tan’s Balance Method
2013-2018 Chairman of the Israeli Association for Traditional Chinese Medicine. 2006-2017 Head of Chinese Medicine at The Integrative Medicine Department , Assaf Ha Rofeh Medical Center.Certified by Dr. Richard Tan in the Balance Method and bearer of his Gold Certificate Together with Adi Fromm, Guy recently published »The Book of Balance Method«..
Guy is the coauthor of a study on the effects of acupuncture on the treatment of acute back and neck pain in the Emergency Room at Assaf Ha Rofeh. He also directs retrospective studies and researches within the orthopedic department, with an emphasis on the effects of Balance Method acupuncture on orthopedic patients during hospitalization.Guy was born in 1977, lives in Tel Aviv, is married to Noa and is the father of Harel and Tomer.
About the lecture
Dr Tan’s Balance Method is one of the most famous acupuncture schools in the West. The method was invented by Dr Tan while observing the world of acupuncture as it is today in the West and the difficult challenges it poses to therapists.
The first challenge – the herbalization of acupuncture. A process that began in the twentieth century in which the language of herbal medicine began to be used for acupuncture. A process that became more acute when it came to the West where an attempt was made to “validate” acupuncture points in the semi-pharmacological style. So we see the study of acupuncture in the format of point prescription or the format of Point functions. In our lecture we will attempt to return the therapeutic idea of acupuncture to meridian-based acupuncture rather than point-based acupuncture.

In the lecture, we will briefly review the principles of the Balance Method. We will make a distinction between the different mechanisms leading to back pain, providing diagnostic emphasis and providing the best of our protocols, including the new developments of the Israeli Tan Center in the treatment of the most common back pain.
The second challenge – in looking at acupuncture treatment, we find it difficult to distinguish who is a Chinese medicine practitioner and who handles needles for physiotherapy. Often the treatments look exactly the same (local acupuncture in patient-sensitive areas). The difference between a Chinese medicine practitioner and a physiotherapist is not found in the technique, the type of needle, or the depth of the acupuncture. No expression creates the difference. The difference is in the root. A practitioner of Chinese medicine must be connected to the roots of Chinese medicine and to the principles written in the ancient texts. We will connect our work to the history of Chinese medicine, understand why there are so many different working techniques and schools of thought, and how the Balance Method draws all its insights from the foundation of Chinese medicine.
The third challenge – the life of the therapist in the 21st century. The training process of therapists today is fundamentally different from the procedure used in Chinese history. Taking our complex medicine and turn it into a set of simple principles that can be implemented quickly and have great clinical results, while allowing the therapist an orderly process of study and deepening. This may be why we fell in love with the balancing method.
We are confident that the treatments you will learn here can be successfully implemented on the very next morning in your clinics and you will see the wonders of the Balance Method in your patients’ smiles.

Jörg Schürpf shiatsu Switzerland
Lecture & workshop
How can the quality of listening hands help a patient to cope more
effi ciently with lifestyle disease?
Jörg Schürpf is the founder of the Shen Shiatsu Academy where therapists can learn to deepen their understanding of how to promote health through listening touch, rather than to fight against disease.
As an international lecturer, he loves to share his passion about how to develop the Art of Listening Hands being an extension of the Stillness in our Heart.
About the lecture & workshop
Our hands are extremely versatile and able to make things, to create, to reach out, to connect, to soothe, to dance and to touch. We can actually train our hands to become the instruments of our embodied compassion.
During the lecture we are going to explore how we can develop the different qualities of listening touch and how this can positively impact the patient suffering from lifestyle disease. Self-awareness is the key of mastering the Art of Listening Hands and will also be part of the lecture and the workshop.
The workshop is an opportunity to actually experience the gentle power of listening hands and how they allow us to connect deeply to the patient’s innermost and often unexpressed needs.
Land like a butterfly, merge with the tissue, the fluids or the energy & listen, listen, listen to the body’s innate intelligence. And, suddenly, your hands will simply know what is needed to restore free flow of information and energy.

Workshop
Introductie workshop Zhineng Qigong
Anne Hering beoefent sinds 1999 Zhineng Qigong.
