DUKE CANNON WAS FOUNDED ON VETERANS DAY 2011 AS A BRAND MOVEMENT. THAT IS, WE WANTED TO CREATE A BRAND THAT RESONATED SO STRONGLY WITH MEN (AND WOMEN WHO BUY FOR THEM) THAT YOU ARE EITHER GOING TO LOVE IT OR HATE IT.

WE WONDERED WHY MEN WERE USING BODY WASH AND THEIR GIRLFRIEND’S LOOFAH INSTEAD OF BAR SOAP. DUKE CANNON’S BRICKS OF SOAP ARE INSPIRED BY THE SOAP USED BY KOREAN WAR GIs. IN FACT, THEY’RE MADE IN THE SAME MEMPHIS, TN FACTORY THE GOVERNMENT CONTRACTED TO MAKE THE ORIGINAL.

IN 2011, WE RE-INTRODUCED IT TO FILL THE VOID OF RELEVANT, AFFORDABLE GIFTS FOR EVERYDAY MEN.

How does Duke Cannon soap compare to the soap used by Korean War GIs? The original soap used by GIs was a full pound brick of soap. A full f*cking pound! We originally tried to re‐create that soap and call it “The Pounder”, but it was so big I couldn’t get my hands around it, and I have really big hands. We had to scale the brick back for everyday, civilian use. We kept the mil‐spec formula as a base and improved on it by adding steel cut grains for texture (which are obviously for exfolia on, but most guys aren’t si ng around talking about exfolia on) and other modifica ons.
