What a great July it has been! Many of our members put on hundreds of miles on a beautiful Independence Day and then we had two great events in the Bikini Bike Wash and the 6th Annual Sethtastic Motorcycle Run. The Bikini Bike Wash is always a fun event and Dan and Shelly at Knuckleheads always welcome DuKane A.B.A.T.E. there as they are HUGE supporters of A.B.A.T.E. Many motorcycles found their way there to get cleaned up by the DuKane Santa Girls and as I always do, I recommend that any time you are in the area, stop and support Knuckleheads Tavern. It was a great Saturday of biker camaraderie and another great event put on by your DuKane Event Officer Chris Newman! Then on July 24th we had the 6th Annual Sethtastic Motorcycle Run to bring awareness to suicide in teens and young adults. DuKane A.B.A.T.E. has always been a supporter of this run and it was another great success. 75 miles of riding backroads without putting our feet down and fully escorted and blocked by the Kane County Sheriffs Department and local Police Departments with an awesome after party at Schmidts Towne Tap. The music by The Funcles was great and we got to celebrate Linda Olesons (Open Roads Chapter) birthday with her. I cannot wait til next July! But now August is right around the corner, and it is the 35th Annual DuKane A.B.A.T.E. Toy and Food Run Season! 35 YEARS!!! Your DuKane Secretary Amy Nelson is already out busting her ass raising money from sponsors to help children in need this coming holiday season. If you have never done the DuKane A.B.A.T.E. Toy and Food Run, you have missed out. It is a fully escorted and blocked motorcycle parade that leaves Knuckleheads Tavern and Schmidts Towne Tap in Elburn and ends at the Sycamore Speedway for a HUGE after party with live music, vendors, vintage motorcycle games, a burnout competition, and more. And the best part is that we collect toys and food for children in need. So, not only do you get a great day on the motorcycle with a huge party, but you get to do good for the community. Make sure you have Sunday October 10th on your calendars and join us!

We are continuing the work with Kane County Madam Chair Corinne Pierog on bringing an off-road motorcycle/ATV park to Kane County. There are discussions happening with many moving pieces, but Corinne is not backing down from her wanting to work with DuKane A.B.A.T.E. to bring this to the county. She knows that it is a need, and that Kane County would be a great centrally located area to bring it to. I cannot thank her enough for keeping her promise and working towards making this dream a reality. We will keep you posted as we go forward. To all of those heading to Sturgis Bike Week, ride safe and make sure T-CLOCK is part of your traveling plans. Keep your eyes open for those pesky texting motorists on the roads and enjoy the week! Tune in each week at 8pm on Wednesdays for This Week in A.B.A.T.E. on the A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois Facebook Page. Get Out – Ride Safe – Ride Free Chris Hansen DuKane A.B.A.T.E. Sethtastic Times Were Had for a Great Cause!

What a month it has been! Great weather and many great adventures were had. Several DuKane ABATE Members participated in the Project Seth Run last weekend. This is an event that DuKane strongly supports. It was a great day and a most excellent ride. Schmidt's Towne Tap and Fox River Harley Davidson were most gracious hosts as always. This is the finest fully escorted ride and route of the year! I thank you all who gathered for out Bikini Bike wash! It was an awesome time hanging out with so many people having good clean fun. Thank you Dan from Knuckleheads Tavern for all of your help making this event happen and always being an avid supporter of DuKane ABATE. Kudos to our DuKane ABATE Santa Girls, who did a fantastic job of getting all of the hard work done. John Bloch, Hejhog, Nathan and I participated in the Freedom Run in June. It was very sobering to visit the Middle Eastern Conflicts Memorial Wall in Marseilles. Please join us by supporting the Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run. The following weekend John Bloch and I spent the weekend at the Illinois ABATE State Party! And what a party it was! A good time was had by all, the torrential rains dampened no one’s spirits. Be sure to make it next year. Planning for our DuKane ABATE 35th Annual Toy and Food run is underway! Calling on all volunteers. Please contact Chris Newman at [email protected] or 630-302-4445 and confirm that you will be available this year. Lots of fun is planned. In addition to collecting a massive quantity of toys, fine music, legendary burnout contest, 50/50 raffle, and good company, this year we are having a Motorcycle Rodeo! Yes, that is right - How slow can you go? Last one to the line wins in the slow race. There will also be a Barrel Roll and the biker favorite couples Weenie Bite! Save the date – October 10th – see you there! Follow DuKane ABATE on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to keep up with what is happening. Go Forth And Ride! – Chris
