From the Principal’s Desk With only five weeks of school remaining for 2019, the focus is on the many end of year activities and planning for 2020. Our last K-6 Assembly was held today with a number of school medals presented and a very entertaining Stage 3 item. Next week our Kindergarten students will present a nativity play at our annual Christmas church service at St Brigid’s. This will be followed by a Thank You Morning Tea for the many volunteers throughout the year who support and enhance the learning of our students. We value the contributions of these wonderful people and are extremely grateful. Finally don’t forget the P&C Sport Forum next Tuesday evening commencing at 6:30pm in the school library. All things sport will be discussed. Enjoy your week! Debbie Pritchard Principal Correction of date There is an error in the Term 4 Parents Calendar that was sent home to recently. The Department’s Revised Enrolment Policy What has changed? – Part 1: the enrolment cap The enrolment cap is the number of students that can be enrolled at a school based on the school’s permanent accommodation. The enrolment cap tells us whether the school may or may not have the capacity to accept non-local enrolments. It is not a target or limit on the number of local enrolments a school can take. Each school with a local intake area will have a cap set by the department from Term 4 2019. This applies to all the schools in Dubbo. To discuss this further, please feel free to make an appointment to meet with the Principal of your local school. Christmas Church Service The annual Christmas Church Service will be held on Wednesday 27 November at St Brigid’s Church at Brisbane Street, at 10am. Kindergarten students will be performing at the service. All parents and carers are welcome to attend. Thank you Morning Tea A morning tea will held at school following the Church Service. All scripture teachers and parent helpers are invited. An invitation will be sent out in the next few days. Awards The cut off for redemption of school awards for 2019 is Friday 29 November. Any gold or silver awards awaiting presentation and any that are earned up to that date will be given out at K-2 and 3-6 assemblies. Any medals earned this year after 20 November will be held over for presentation next year. Year 6 and leaving students can continue to bring their awards in until the last week of term. Dubbo Public School App Just a reminder to parents that the Dubbo Public School app has not been available to use since 30 June 2019 as the platform that supports our school app closed from that date. We have some exciting things planned around communication with our parents but they won't be happening until early next year. So, in the meantime, you can access the school newsletter, calendar and canteen menu through the school's website at dubbo-p.schools.nsw.edu.au or on the Dubbo Public School P & C Facebook page. Absences can either be phoned through on 6882 2399 or emailed to the school at [email protected].

Library News Please return library books!

Library borrowing will stop for the year AT THE END OF

THIS WEEK so that all library books make it back to the

library before our library stocktake in Week 9.

I have sent home lists of books that children need to return

to the library. Please have a look for these at home at

home. Check for the DUBBO PUBLIC SCHOOL barcode

inside the back cover or on the back of the book. Children

can return their books to the library before and after

school as well as at lunchtimes - you don't need to wait

until your library lesson day. Thank you to all those families

who have already returned library books.

Lost Books

Sometimes library books get lost, despite your best efforts.

If that is the case, please send a note in for Mrs Veugen

with your child (or call the office) to let us know. We don't

charge families for lost books, but we do need to know the

details so we can clear the system. Thank you for your

assistance with this.

Dream Cricket. They participated in games, like Sticky Wicket,

to brush up on their cricketing skills with the help of the Rotary

Club and students from St Johns High School. All the children

had a great time and enjoyed a delicious barbeque cooked by The

Girls Academy, Dubbo College. Dubbo College Senior Campus

students provided some fantastic lunchtime entertainment.
